I hand-on-heart was at Pinewood Studios in the audience for this taping of "The Golden Child" & had no idea that we would witness the death of Denholm!! On the night Matt Berry was sooo nervous playing Douglas that he messed up his lines a ton & there was a lot of giggling by the cast during the vibrate scenes 😂😂

The bit in the church with Roy and the phone is hands down one of the funniest things I've seen. Had me in stitches. 😂
I believe the actor playing Denholm had other commitments and had to leave. On the flip side, we get the tremendous Matt Berry instead. Swings and roundabouts!

Matt Berry is tremendous, but not in this. Not his fault, apart from deciding to take the role. This series was a bad introduction to Matt Berry for me! If only Chris Morris had stayed!

At the time of The IT Crowd's original run, I was already a massive fan of Chris Morris, from his previous work on shows like The Day Today and Brass Eye. However, I felt he was always underwhelming in this role and never really matched the vibe of the show. When Matt Berry took over, I felt it was a far better fit and preferred his performances in this role far more.

I think his first appearance in this episode was a bit weird and I wasn't a fan. But after a few more episodes he became my favorite

Don't mourn the loss too much, Matt Berry is a class act and brightens up the rest of the episodes no end.
One of the best intros to a character I have seen in a long time.
Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade were both in Garth Marenghi's Darkplace before this. That's a 6 episode free-to-watch gem of a piss-take on badly made TV shows and bad horror writers. The creators have allowed it to be uploaded complete on YT on multiple channels, so there is a very low likelihood of them doing copyright nuisance to you if you decide to react to it.
Definitely a show to check out. The more I watch it, the funnier it gets!
For me, the best episode of the I.T. crowd. Both actors playing the managers were very funny. Pity you had to cut the old boss 'stepping down'.

It's just occurred to me that this episode heavily features death which will seem remote to you compared to myself who was middle-aged when I first saw it. There's a theory of comedy that says we laugh at what scares or unsettles us. You seem fairly clever. If you give it some thought you may agree. Anyway, it's all subjective of course.
Matt Berry's managed to establish himself as a credible singer-songwriter and composer too . take a listen folks .
Matt Berry is hilarious in this show. He is also in What we do In the Shadows, and he is awesome in that too
What I like about today's reaction was they think Denholm was the best in the series... they don't know his son properly yet 🤣 matt berry makes this show!
Personally, I’m not a fan of the character. In small doses I enjoy what he adds but sometimes I find him just stupid.
This is a quality episode, Douglas is my fav character but there's no beating the staff night out ep

When the Chris Morris character committed suicide, it was a reference to Robert Maxwell of Mirror group Newspaper. His daughter, Ghislaine Maxwell is probably well known to everyone watching for other reasons.

Denholm's exit from the series was, is and always be one of the funniest things ever, and you cut it from you edit?
RUclips is ridiculously censorious nowadays, they might have skipped it because it was a suicide.
It might be because of the suicide nature of it and RUclipss strictness, but it might just be to make sure the best reaction parts are kept for patreon. I'm really glad they didn't do this with the last episodes best bits as that would have been a war crime 😄

I believe his father returns in the later episode where him and Douglas have a chat in what looks to be vision of the gates of heaven that’s all I’ll say don’t want to spoil it any further.

I believe Chris Morris (Denholm) had to be written out of the series so he could work on his comedy movie about suicide bombers, 'Four Lions' now there's a damn good movie worth reacting to.

I hated Matt Berry when he appeared. I knew all the regular characters, and suddenly some annoying stranger had appeared and was taking up screen time. In time I found him a much more amusing character than Denholm.
Been waiting for you to get to this ep. Turning point in the series. Matt Berry is so good. Check him out in the American remake of what we do in the shadows of you haven't already

Guys there was no cliffhanger, it’s just an ending. You should get our stuff by now! It’s just a good, funny pay off. That’s it, you’re not supposed to read anything in to it.
And in that vein, Richmond and Heat magazine last ep - you weren’t supposed to infer from that he was gay.
It's not possible the predict the exact date, but with the data available about people's lives these days, we can predict to within 5 years.

Good episode, Douglas is a really funny Boss as you will find out in later episodes.
If you want to react to an even funnier series than The IT Crowd, check out a UK comedy show called "Facejacker".
Basically it features the now famous comedian/film actor Kayan Novak, disguising himself as various eccentric characters and comedy trolling the public.
To get a feel of the show, good clip to start on might be.
"Dufrais At The Baseball Game | Facejacker " (the 8.47 minute clip) or "Brian Babonde Takes A Painting Class | Facejacker ".
Facejacker is the funniest show I have seen this century, nothing has topped it.

This is probably my fave episode, tho hard to pick. The funeral especially is very funny, very far from my actual experience of Christiam funerals.
Also im fairly sure that in the church of england (im assuming this is anglican) all vicars are priests.
It is often outsourced nowadays so it's not unrealistic to get rid of the it department.
I love how their new boss is just Donald Trump if he dedicated his life to just being a stupid rich guy instead of an aspiring dictator.
