As it happens Brighton were the team that gained the most points from VAR decisions with City and United both also above Liverpool in that regard.

The first rule of the Premier league, is to ignore the Premier league only stats, because that's a wealthy person saying ignore the poor And we never ignore the poor The top tier stats go back over a hundred years Don't let the marketing people control your thoughts
Theres only been 6 teams in the history of the Premier League that haven't been relegated. Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. Of those teams only Everton and Tottenham haven't won the league.
In the pandemic year Liverpool were about 20 points clear at the top before the pandemic even existed, so it can’t really be argued that they didn’t deserve it
Everton along with Liverpool were relegated from the old top flight in the early 1950s.but since the mid 1950s they have never been out of the top flight. They are also the two closest clubs in terms of distance, either side of Stanley park in Liverpool. Alan Shearer only managed for the last 6 games of that season as the previous manager was sacked. He went back to doing Match of the Day afterwards. He did rally Newcastle but just could not get them over the line.
Everton weren't relegated (they are, I believe the only team that never have been, although they seem to be trying to fix that these days) but Liverpool were relegated then (only a couple of years after having won the league). The club floundered for a few years until a certain Bill Shankly came along and dragged them back to the top.
One thing most people forget is that in the 2019/20 season Liverpool basically had already won the League at X-mas before Covid hit.. LFC went undefeated for the first 27 games !!!
Alan Shearer actually took over in the 08/09 season for like the last 8 games. That newcastle season was bonkers. Kevin Keegan resigned because the board signed players he didn't want, and that they'd only seen on youtube. He was then replaced by Joe Kinnear. I don't remember if this was the time he called the reporter Simon Bird a f***ing c**t or not, but he also mispronounced two of his players names. He left due to surgery needed so Shearer took over, and had no hope, and then afterwards went straight back to Match of the day as if this time in charge never happened.
Hey guys! Congratulations on hitting 100k subs your videos are fantastic! I do agree with you that there should be promotion and relegation in American sports as it gives team something to actually play for. The joys and happiness of promotion contrasted with the inevitable agony, sadness and tears of relegation. When I see American franchises supposedly ‘tanking’ their season to get a higher draft pick I always think you’re lucky to still stay in your league/division. But if you even dare to tank your season here there’d be NO higher draft pick to look forward to in a draft … but only the very heavy price of RELEGATION to endure. I believe there was a vote of owners of the USLC (US Soccer League Championship) in Colorado Springs (on the 9th and 10th of August) about if pro/rel should be introduced in the tiers below the MLS to start with. I don’t know the results of that vote but hopefully pro/rel was voted for. Keep producing great stuff guys and stay safe!
I think they did try to get Celtic and Rangers in the PL in the 90s when it was first starting up, but UEFA said no. However, they allowed a joint Belgium-Holland league so it was thought it might become a reality sometime, with the British government likely to back it as an attempt to stave off Scottish Independence, and the PL wanting to shake things up, though the two Scottish teams would be unlikely to do too well initially without a lot of work, whereas they're quite comfortable at the top of the Scottish league.
The first season the official name was the Carling Premiership, later called the. Barclaycaed Premiership then the Barclays premier league, also called the English premier league and simply the premier league. I've probably forgotten a couple of other names.
The part of the video about shearer managing a relegated Newcastle is not entirely accurate. Shearer took on 8 games at the back end of the season when we were all but relegated anyway. We had a string of bad managers throughout the season and Alan stepped in because we couldn't really find anyone else. The writing was on the wall with or without him
Wales does have it's own leagues but there are a handful of Welsh clubs in the English leagues as there are a handful of English clubs in the Welsh league most of the English clubs are from Shropshire which is just over the Welsh border
That sounded like a load of Salop****lol) but I never knew that Gillian. I knew Wales had their league biyt I never knew that some English sides were in it, ***I trust that you get that "Salop" joke:)
I feel I'll be repeating what a lot of others might have said but by the time the pandemic hit Liverpool had already gained a massive points lead over everyone else. By the time the league got postponed there was no doubt about who was going to win the league so the whole Covid/lockdown issues didn't affect the league winners at all. Actually Liverpool tended to play worse in the empty stadiums.
10:37 well not just football generally, this English football league existed for over 100 years prior to the name change to The Premier League. It was just known as the English first division before that

Every single team in England has been relegated at some point, most just before 1992 and the Premier League, so always remember the massive asterisk next to the records of clubs who claim to have never been relegated. Some teams have never been relegated in all their existence just not in England, like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic Club in Spain, Celtic and Aberdeen in Scotland, Boca Jrs and Flamengo in South America, and most of the other big European clubs from various nations.
The premier league is just a reformation of the original English league! All the teams that went into the premier league were already teams in the English Football League! It just happens to be that in 1992 all the Larger clubs would form a much more competitive League that was then called the Premier League! Something I think should be noted that changed football forever!!! The premier league became the most competitive a league in the world because the revenue from Cable and Adverts were distributed fairly amongst the entire league!!! This is much different ( EVEN TILL THIS DAY! ) to every single other league in the world! Every other league like Spain or Germany give most of their Television and Ad proceeeda to the top 3 or 4 biggest teams in their league…… This is why even till this day, the Premiere League remains the most competitive league in world football! Wellll that, and the fact that the Premier League created such a massive new precedence that the fan base for it will always be the strongest in my opinion…..
The last English manager to win the league was Howard Wilkinson for Leeds in 1991/92 season which was the season before The Premier League’s inception.
The season runs from ~ august to may, so var was introduced in the 2019/20 season, so it was running for almost half a year before the pandemic. The next season (2020/21) was affected by corona, but the league/clubs were better equipped to deal with that. There was no break in that sense.
fact about the year Newcastle got relegated when shearer was in charge, he only managed the last like 8 games, the damage was already done by that time tbh, we were shocking that season with multiple managers.
Mahrez in that Leicester season was insane, still the best First touch in football ever, and it wasnt a fluke, Vardy, Mahrez and Kante went onto being PL legends for yearssss later after that league win
Bayern Munich is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 33 national titles, including 11 consecutively since 2013, and 20 national cups, along with numerous European honours. In 2020, Bayern Munich, under the head coach Hans-Dieter Flick, won the sextuple and became the first team to win the UEFA Champions League by winning all matches.
*Furthermore the "Intercontinental Cup" in 1976 and 2001, the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013 and 2020. Plus, in Germany 10 times the DFB-/DFL-Supercup and 6 times the DFL-League-Cup. No other German team won more titles/trophies in every national or international competition.* 🔴⚽😈❤🔥
Bruv, it's called relegation :) Nice reaction boys! EDIT: also, Salah at Liverpool was not at his first season in the PL, there is actually footage of him playing for Chelsea earlier in the video.
Im a Bradford City fan, and it was great to see them plsy in the Premier league. Unfortunately, they are now languishing in the 4th division, which is now called Division 2 !!.
VAR was introduced to try a rule out mistakes by the officials that potentially changed results. The season prior to it’s introduction the League Cup final ended Manchester United 3 Southampton 2, with tv reruns showing that Southampton had a perfectly legal goal mistakenly ruled out, when the score was 0-0. I think this was the mistake that finally pushed the League into introducing VAR.
He clearly doesn't like Liverpool does he? Not one mention in the video of the treble we won in 2001 (FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup), or any mention of us winning the Champions League in 2005, or 2019. Also, In 2020, Liverpool were basically 3 matches away from sealing the title BEFORE the season was postponed by Lockdown. It was a formality by that point, but people still tried to get the season cancelled out of spite (Basically, every single United & Chelsea fan)

Bradford city qualified for the intato Cup. Because it was the original fair play cup. And yes other fans called it the micky mouse Cup. But how many English teams can Bragg about qualifying and playing in Europe. Not many.
1:25:29 so just to give some actual facts about 20/21. - man city won the league very comfortably over man utd, with no notable title race occuring. - Leicester spent most of the year 3rd but slumped to 5th and just missing out on champions league, mostly because Liverpool scraped a win against West Brom thanks to their goalkeeper scoring a last minute winner - West Ham, having avoided relegation by 6 points last year, managed to finish 6th. Their season was a right mess, they sold their most promising young star, sold their only striker, meaning they were playing an aging right mid up front, they signed someone whos career was the most memed on the internet on loan, as well as an old and slow defender who had just relegated his last two teams. suddenly it all came together and they got the most points in a season they’ve ever managed. - Spurs finish 7th and Arsenal finished 8th. This was significant as Spurs qualified for the new UEFA europa conference league, a third tier european tournament to make the europa league less congested with teams and improving the quality. Spurs, usually being champions league regulars, were believed to be guaranteed to win this tournament….. they got knocked out in the groups (first round) - relegated were sheffield united, who completely fell apart after the season before due to continuous centre back injuries. West Brom, which broke infamous relegation specialist manager Sam Allardyce’s record of not being relegated from the premier league. And lastly fulham, who were infamous for missing seemingly every penalty they got this season. in addition to the games mentioned, some other notable games were - Spurs 3-3 West Ham, west ham were 3-0 down in the 82nd minute, no team had ever been that far behind that late and not lost. - west brom 5-2 chelsea. Idk how it happened either lol. - Arsenal 0-3 Aston Villa, 4th loss in 8 games, started a run of 7 games without a win. - man city 2-5 Leicester, this type of result early in the season made people think there was no favourite this season to win the league. I think it might have been a premier league record, because at least 7/8 different teams were top of the league at some point. This season was actually very good, but it was ruined by no fans and a lack of a title fight in the second half. For example, at new years, the top 10 were split by only 7 points, which never happens halfway through a season.
The first season the official name was the Carling Premiership, later called the. Barclaycaed Premiership then the Barclays premier league, also called the English premier league and simply the premier league. I've probably forgotten a couple of other names.
Everton founder member of the football league and premier league, 5th most successful club in England in terms of league titles. An institution of English football.
it was not just the money was foreign money, the bigger issue was the large money, just buying excuses rather then using better tactics, and buying well and so on.
Amazing video , matched by the reaction. I dont know whats happening but there is a wave of US sport fans watching EU football as of late and its so great to see. I feel its a nice way to bridge a gap of why football means so much to us- plus you now have Messi to watch, literally a footballing god. Being a massive Chelsea fan at some points it was a hard watch lol but im still proud of what we achieved. I remember crying when Terry missed that Penalty- but English football you are welcome we made you better than Spain haha. I also remember where i was for all prem titles and CL wins. Good times man. Been tough as of late but we have changed the club from top to bottom. Most teams fall off because of one player or a manager change tbf but the internet has no memory haha. I want to give a shout out to a few players I feel were missed here. Bias maybe but Lampard needed more air time. He ran our midfield for years and was so consistent. Shout out to Rory Delap , man should have gone into javelin or something. His throwings were a corner and when they had a throw in your half , it was a scary time. Shout out Ashley Cole, bias again maybe but he is the best left back to ever do it for me. Shout out both Morten Gamst Pedersen and Mathew Taylor, they could only score absolute bangers. I also have to mention Cheick Tiote, was a rock for Newcastle and scored one of the best goals in one of the best games ive ever seen against Arsenal. May his soul rest in peace. Also shout out the beach ball , with the only inanimate object with a premier league goal haha.(post/bar and in dont count )

At one time there were three South London rivals all playing at Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park football stadium - Palace, Wimbledon and Charlton Athletic, due to Charlton and Wimbledon having trouble paying their rent on their own grounds. Lots of fun and smiles for the Charlton and Wimbledon fans, as traditional haters of Crystal Palace. Palace are my local team in Croydon, although I'm not a sports fan. Eventually Wimbledon called in the receivers, and proposed to sell everything and retire from history, which prompted a fan rebellion, and the creation of a fan-owned Wimbledon club, Wimbledon AFC, in which a couple of old friends of mine from church ended up in senior management positions. As for Charlton, I don't care. Wales doesn't have a lot of seperate anything from England, because they were conquered and completely subdued the first, in the 15th century. They've never been an independent country like Scotland and Ireland have been. Before Wales was conquered it was divided into several rival kingdoms, so Wales as a single administrative unit never existed prior to the English conquest. Scotland and Ireland had their own parliaments and laws prior to the Acts of Union which created the United Kingdom, and so they got distinct education systems and stuff, whereas new laws always apply to both England and Wales, or they did until the creation of the Welsh Assembly as part of Devolution under Tony Blair. You always hear newsreaders referring to "England and Wales" about crime statistics or anything else. Welsh nationalism and identity have never been as strong as Scottish and Irish nationalism. Wales is beloved, but not enough to fight about. Wales was a centre of socialism in the UK during the industrial revolution and up to today, due to all the coal mines and ironworks in Wales, so the dominant politics was class-based rather than ethnic, and Welsh workers identifying with other workers in the UK, not wanting to be divided from them.
the football championships are England and Welsh leagues, the so called Englsh cricket team are also officially called the English and Welsh cricket team and leagues.
It is unfortunate but now with most clubs being on the stock market and owned by businessmen the bottom line (how much dividend will we get) is the main criteria.

Brian's Clough Nottingham Forest winning the Old division 1 that a underdog story.
Some people did put a bet on Leicester
Theres only been 6 teams in the history of the Premier League that haven't been relegated. Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. Of those teams only Everton and Tottenham haven't won the league.
As a spurs fan…. M8 no need to remind us… we know😭
didn't Tottenham win it in '51 and '61?
@@joshy1965 premier league started in 1992, any history before that sadly doesn’t really get recognised
@@chrispalmer7893 according to history twice, 1929 to 2930 and 1950 to 1951.
@@jimbo6059 My bad, for some reason I thought it was Everton but it's Arsenal that have never been relegated
Since getting into the top division in 1919 Arsenal have Never been relegated.

Congrats on the 100k mark lads! Very well deserved.
One thing most people forget is that in the 2019/20 season Liverpool basically had already won the League at X-mas before Covid hit.. LFC went undefeated for the first 27 games !!!
MANCITY COME ON, won 1st PL title difficult and UCL difficult, we never do things easy
The Liverpool league win in 19/20 was already pretty certain before the pandemic, we would've had to lose 7 games out of the last 9 to not win it
I think they did try to get Celtic and Rangers in the PL in the 90s when it was first starting up, but UEFA said no.
I believe it was called the premiership first in the 90s before it was changed to the Premier league
The first season the official name was the Carling Premiership, later called the. Barclaycaed Premiership then the Barclays premier league, also called the English premier league and simply the premier league. I've probably forgotten a couple of other names.
98/99 was special! i was a utd fan and they won the treble (league, fa cup and champions league) its was such a great team and great time!
Aguero moment will forever be the most rememberable PL moment
I knew Wales had their league biyt I never knew that some English sides were in it,
***I trust that you get that "Salop" joke:)
fyi. The Lyric of 'Coming Home' refers to England eventing the modern game of Football. Not that we won the WC in 1966.

there is a welsh league, but typically the bigger teams like swansea cardiff and wrexham all play in english leagues for more money
Congrats on 100k subs🎉
The media has skewed what “it’s coming home” actually means
100% top and bottom of the table is all the excitement the middle is borning

After getting into the top flight of football in 1919 Arsenal have Never been relegated.
@@frankgunner8967 1913 ring any bells?
The premier league is just a reformation of the original English league! All the teams that went into the premier league were already teams in the English Football League! It just happens to be that in 1992 all the Larger clubs would form a much more competitive League that was then called the Premier League!
Something I think should be noted that changed football forever!!! The premier league became the most competitive a league in the world because the revenue from Cable and Adverts were distributed fairly amongst the entire league!!! This is much different ( EVEN TILL THIS DAY! ) to every single other league in the world! Every other league like Spain or Germany give most of their Television and Ad proceeeda to the top 3 or 4 biggest teams in their league……
This is why even till this day, the Premiere League remains the most competitive league in world football! Wellll that, and the fact that the Premier League created such a massive new precedence that the fan base for it will always be the strongest in my opinion…..
congrats on 100k lads
Its going home, but it just got lost somewhere along the way
The last English manager to win the league was Howard Wilkinson for Leeds in 1991/92 season which was the season before The Premier League’s inception.
Congratulations guys
The season runs from ~ august to may, so var was introduced in the 2019/20 season, so it was running for almost half a year before the pandemic.
The next season (2020/21) was affected by corona, but the league/clubs were better equipped to deal with that. There was no break in that sense.
Football existed before the Premier League 😊

fact about the year Newcastle got relegated when shearer was in charge, he only managed the last like 8 games, the damage was already done by that time tbh, we were shocking that season with multiple managers.
It was William McGregor of Aston Villa who started the World's first Football League 1888
its IS coming home. just taking a long scenic route to get here...
Wales has their own league. But is semi professional, Wales 3 professional teams play in the English pyramid leagues and always have done.
Mahrez in that Leicester season was insane, still the best First touch in football ever, and it wasnt a fluke, Vardy, Mahrez and Kante went onto being PL legends for yearssss later after that league win
The League that Cantona built. That first 15yrs was a glorious time to be a season ticket holder at United...... which I was 😂
Bayern Munich is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 33 national titles, including 11 consecutively since 2013, and 20 national cups, along with numerous European honours.
It’s coming home I always thought was because we hosted the euros in 1996. Footballs coming home rather than the title
I am a Swansea fan and I endorse this reaction. Them were the days 🇬🇧 🦢 🏴
Congrats guys, hope the next 100k follows rapid. 🤜🤛💯
19:08 We were! We haven’t won it since 2013 now though
Coming home on Sunday
He clearly doesn't like Liverpool does he?
Not one mention in the video of the treble we won in 2001 (FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup), or any mention of us winning the Champions League in 2005, or 2019.
Also, In 2020, Liverpool were basically 3 matches away from sealing the title BEFORE the season was postponed by Lockdown. It was a formality by that point, but people still tried to get the season cancelled out of spite (Basically, every single United & Chelsea fan)
My friend it's not a dig at Liverpool the thumbnail reads Entire History of the premier league not the history of fa cups and European cups.
100k, nice one! You still pronounced "Premier League" wrong 😅

Hey lads, Match of the day is back on the BBC saturday nights and iplayer.
- Leicester spent most of the year 3rd but slumped to 5th and just missing out on champions league, mostly because Liverpool scraped a win against West Brom thanks to their goalkeeper scoring a last minute winner
- West Ham, having avoided relegation by 6 points last year, managed to finish 6th.
Spurs, usually being champions league regulars, were believed to be guaranteed to win this tournament….. they got knocked out in the groups (first round)
- relegated were sheffield united, who completely fell apart after the season before due to continuous centre back injuries. West Brom, which broke infamous relegation specialist manager Sam Allardyce’s record of not being relegated from the premier league. And lastly fulham, who were infamous for missing seemingly every penalty they got this season.
in addition to the games mentioned, some other notable games were
- Spurs 3-3 West Ham, west ham were 3-0 down in the 82nd minute, no team had ever been that far behind that late and not lost.
I love that my team never got Deregulated

it was not just the money was foreign money, the bigger issue was the large money, just buying excuses rather then using better tactics, and buying well and so on.

United went 25 years without a title before the prem.
41 years before that as well.

It is unfortunate but now with most clubs being on the stock market and owned by businessmen the bottom line (how much dividend will we get) is the main criteria.
