    Yes, I AM enjoying the Time of Eve.

      I also absolutely adore how the androids are more lively than the humans. Each shot of the human world is so serious, so dull, so….robotic. 😂

      @@TestHandlePleaseIgnore Damn, I never saw the world like that. But now you say that I can’t un-see it 😂 I love little details like that it just adds so much more to a story.

    Given the state of AI rapidly progressing, Time of Eve is more relevant than ever. Great video

    I came from the Ergo Proxy video and I now have 2 more animes to watch. Thank you for these videos. I think you made some pretty convincing statements about these shows that intrigued me enough to atleast check em out. Because TOE is short I might just watch it right now.

    Whenever I make a list of good anime about humanoid robots, then I don't even need to decide to leave this out, since it doesn't even come to mind. Rightfully so. Only when I see other people pushing it, putting it on list, recommending it. It's for people who want the western sentiments about robots ("Golems"), but in Japanese animation.

    Amazing video of an incredibly underrated anime. I'm glad someone is making videos on anime that goes way too under the radar. Subscribed!
    A few things to add:
    1. If you haven't seen the audio commentary with the movie, you definitely should. I bought the Blu-ray and the commentary from Yoshiura was like watching an extra movie in itself. He gives a lot of insight and Easter eggs that adds to the purpose and intention of some of the scenes, even the smallest ones.
    2. The music in this movie really adds to the calming atmosphere of the movie and is a triumph in itself. I think it is a movie that works perfectly with its music.
    3. It's a small point but to anyone who hasn't watched this, please watch the movie instead of the 6 episode ONAs. The movie are the ONAs combined together with many wonderful new scenes added. The opening and ending scene of the movie alone to me is so memorable and cannot be found in the ONAs.
    Keep on with your good work, Matt! I'll recommend some of my favourite shows that has went under the radar - Natsu no Arashi, Magatsu Wahrheit Zuerst, ACCA and hell Patema Inverted is still great too.

    This show reminds me of va-11 hall-a, it even has androids chilling.

    • @MadMatt-TV
      @MadMatt-TV  Год назад +1

      Wow, now that you say that the similarities between the 2 are uncanny. They both are set in cyberpunk futures, both focus on small stories from multiple characters within those worlds, both are pretty chill and both take place at mundane establishments. Probs the closest we will have to an anime adaptation of Va-11 hall-a lol

      @@MadMatt-TV yeah, thats a very good observation. Also, what are your thoughts on the lilim characters in va-11 hall-a, I think they are cool.

    • @MadMatt-TV
      @MadMatt-TV  Год назад +1

      @@marcusaaronliaogo9158 I also think the Lilim characters are cool. I think science fiction stories that use AI and robots are pretty interesting. I think a lot can be explored through that topic. In Va-11 Hall-a all of the Lilim characters were interesting having their own personalities and stories that could be explored. I remember liking Miki, I think an android pop star is a cool concept and something we already are heading towards. Something that I though was kind of interesting with the Lilims was how there was never really a question about if they actually had sentience. It was kind of obvious that they do. Unlike other stories where they might play with the idea of something being classified as sentient. In Va-11 Hall-a they were just an artificial life form that was widely accepted as being alive. Which I think kind of made it a bit unique.

      To be honest I don't really have a favourite. There are many that I like and there many that have impacted me but I don't know if I could pick one out to be my overall favourite. But If I had to say one it would probably be Blue Gender. however it has been a long time since I have seen that so it might not hold up to what my memories of it are. But thanks for the comment No Gernades and what's your favourite?

    I've watched this anime. meh. it presents interesting questions, but it goes about it in a way that is too naive. it left no lasting impression on me.

    • @MadMatt-TV
      @MadMatt-TV  2 года назад +3

      That’s understandable and fair. Time of eve can come off like that within its storytelling.
      However I do disagree lol. I don’t think it was naive, I just think it was subtle. And for me that made the message a little more impactful. Because I had to look a bit deeper into everything and think about it all a bit more.
      But hey, at the end of the day art, storytelling and media is incredibly subjective. We all can like or dislike things differently.
      And thanks for watching my vid man, means a lot :)
