I had a teacher throwaway desk at a student and pin him to the wall. Kids don't always tell their parents stuff so if the parents don't know how are they going to report it?

As for the monster itself, I guess is that the monster would have to get a whiff of him, or at the very least see him to track him down. Or at the very most, if it knows what all of them look like since it has their DNA, or since the teacher somehow knew where they all lived, then it more than likely would have hunted him anyway.
Ion what the teacher implemented into the thing's hunting abilities so a clear answer is just a debate.
