    • @BxPolymath
      @BxPolymath  3 года назад

      The Hangaround phase varies from club to club, but in my club, we need to see the initiative to make events/rides and reach out to the members. Once he’s coming around often, and he has expressed interest in the club, then that person can be made a handaround after voting on it.

    Good info. I have a coworker who is one of the big four MCs. Great guy. Does a great job! He gives me great riding advice. We are friends, but we don’t hang out all the time. We treat each other with the highest respect. According to your advice, I can “announce” to him that I am interested in the club? I can sense that he wants me to ask about joining the club. I have actually already told him that I would like to invite him over to my house soon and talk about his club over a a nice shot of good bourbon. What do you suggest? I don’t know for sure if club life is for me because I am a family man with a wife and children. But I think if I get to the “hang around” phase, I can see for myself if it is for me.

    • @BxPolymath
      @BxPolymath  3 года назад +2

      100%. You let him know that you are interested and he will know whether you’d be a good fit or not. I call this the screening process. Members know what to look for in hangarounds/prospects so if you aren’t a good fit, then he will tell you straight up. Also, just know that whatever club you are looking into, you HAVE to commit to the time needed for it. This may mean that some weekends instead of hanging with family, you are with the club. You have to be ready for that

      @@BxPolymath Thank you! If anything will stop me, it’s the fact that I love spending time with my wife & son. My biological father was a prospect for one of the BIG FOUR. He left me before I was born. I was raised by my step father. My biological father never gave a damn about me. I can’t imagine not being there for my son during a major game, Jiujitsu match or a major accomplishment. My wife needs me too, but she has her Vegas trips with her girlfriends. I have very few friends and long for the brotherhood and camaraderie that MCs have. I would talk to my wife about this. She has often told me she wishes I had more friends and guys nights out like she has nights with her girlfriends. One thing is I am a new rider and I don’t own a Harley. I bought a nice looking Honda bike for 3k because I could not afford the Harley I want. But another year, I will have saved money and will be ready to have a badass Harley!! Should I still approach my friend/coworker about learning more about his MC? 81!!! I am an Army and Marine Corps Vet!! Miss the brotherhood that I had! I practice on my motorcycle everyday. May I introduce you to the concept of no cellular calls while driving and why? Because there is no difference between a conference on video while driving and talking to someone on the phone in my opinion... And if you research that, focus on the 'why'.

      @morningstarx5340 3 года назад +1

      Why tho

    • @raybois
      @raybois 3 года назад

      @@morningstarx5340 Very simple and easy answer and since you're too lazy to go check it yourself, I'll tell you: Despite the popular belief, the brain simply can't control two things at the same time. So in reality, what you do when phoning and driving is quickly alternating back and forth between the two activities. This happens fast but the brain gets tired of it quickly and the time between the switch gets longer and longer. The accidents happen during the switching time, during the second while it's doing nothing. During that time, it's not driving nor phoning. All of this is happening very quickly; but the actual cause of the accident simply happens faster. And you can't react while your brain is in between two activities.

    • @morningstarx5340
      @morningstarx5340 3 года назад +2

      @@raybois I'm not asking why you shouldn't make calls while driving, I'm asking why you posted this in the comments. There is a huge difference between speaking to a video and talking on the phone, and its obvious: you don't ever have to focus on reactions to feedback from a person on the the other end of a video because said person doesn't exist. You don't have to focus on listening in order to provide a response. Your brain doesnt have to solve that part of the equation. Seems like a pretty big point to take into consideration. Does it divert some of your brain power towards something other than riding the bike? Yea, probably about as much as if you were thinking about something other than driving while you're behind the wheel in my estimation. To say that there is no difference between what he is doing and being on the phone is just easily reputable at the level of common sense.
