Hi Becky. I also live in Tx. And ❤️ it. Transplanted last April from California. I have been quilting for 30+ yrs. And love it as much as I did in the beginning. I am also a born again Christian. He is in control at all times. Praise His name. Keep up the good work. Glo
I'm a newbie to quilting and long arm quilting and "just happened" to find you on RUclips and "I Love You"! Great tips and tons of great knowledge! Thank you so much and God Bless!!!!
Lorena, I have been meaning to tell you my fix for the side clamps. I open the clam and put a strip of the soft side of velcro all across the length of each clamp. No more slipping clamp. Works great! Will post pics on your Facebook page.
Thank you, Lorena for the advice given between the features of 2 Panasonic irons. I chose the $70.00 Panasonic , cordless, steam iron that only comes in Aqua. It arrived within a week & I am in love with this choice. So very grateful to you! Carol Ann
Thank you for sharing, invaluable. I' am the shy lady nobody talks to when out and about, hence stopped going out, just never know what to say! Listening to you has made me realise why people find it difficult to talk to me, given me a lot to think about, thank you.
I used to be real shy too! Full of wisdom that no one heard! Didn't think people would listen anyway! You have something precious to share with others! That's what I found out for myself! Shy people are watchers and observers and see things others may not see! They are full of depth and I found shy people are wonderful heart listeners! Because they are so internal they see other deeply! You have a wonderful voice that others need to hear! It took me time to open up to others! Now I share too much! I am still a shy loner at times to get recharged and gain strength again! But I do like now sharing my heart and learning from others knowledge too! I really appreciate hearing your wonderful voice! And hope you continue to share it with other!
+Lorena's Quilting -- Just say anything! Hi - I like your hair!! What are you doing ? I ask this at fabric stores-- sometimes though I get weird why are talking to me looks!! I just ignore and keep bugging people! Then they share something with me and I share something with them -- then sometimes in the mist I find a friend! Just ignore weird why you talking to me looks! I have learned I have a right to say hi! I exists today on this earth to make something with it! I am present and you are in front of me for a divine purpose and I'm going to say hi first because you may need me?!! And who knows I may need you! Okay that's my weird wisdom of why I talk to everybody! Honestly I think I changed my shyness to openness is my mom tried committing suicide and I saw her hurting and in pain and didn't know what to say! And didn't say or do anything! I almost lost her! She is sick now with mental illness and she hadn't been the same since! I regret not say or doing anything!
Thank you for the pep talk. I've been to the local quilt group and found them to be distant and although I am very friendly, it just wasn't working. I'm going to take another shot at it.
Sally keep going...sometimes its just that they see you and then your gone...after going for a while you will be like a fish you put in a bag that allows the other fish and the water to acclimate to your presence. They will warm up to you. It took me a while and I have found that I have a lot to offer and after a while people will see that. Someone in that group will need what you have. Other newbees will come in and you will be the kindness to give to them because that what you wanted for yourself. Oh... take another newbee with you it helps.,.lorena
It is so wonderful to hear from you! The love of our Lord Jesus is wonderful! I will pray for you and your healing! I really appreciate you watching! Lorena
HAHAHAHAHA! you used the word 'crap' when talking about the one thing I dislike about my job! Piecing batting , yuk! Feelin your vibe girl! We must become friends!
your so cute talking. what a hoot. thanks for the video's....I was family of 6 kids. I can imagine 5, wonderful. i love my crown jewel long arm. so simple from the high end machines. we have a clear plastic ruler arm that lol snaps on an a breeze..i am so glad you found the round ruler guide, ya rulers are expensive. when i sold my last machine, the lady wanted to take the rulers and i told her no they don't go..boy! she wanted my superior bobbin tention guide too. i told her i was upgrading to a better frame, same machine...love quilting....your awesome...
I love Jamie Wallen's rulers from Quilter's Apothecary! Don't think twice about it. Just go to the website and order them. You will be so happy with them all. Those bobbins are standard for my Tin Lizzie. Love them too.
Love your honesty about quilting and life in general. Regarding your renovation, you got so much done for your money. I know it depends on the area where you live but it also involves making good decisions about what you feel is essential for your work environment. Congratulations on doing a fantastic job.
good advice here Lorena. I am semi-retired as a hairdresser. I have "dealt with people" for many years, and find I no longer enjoy heavy socialization. The older I get, the less I "need" to know others...and I don't mean that in any judgmental or ugly way. But I am a bit odd, in that I don't watch TV, I don't really watch the news, and I don't enjoying hearing about "escapades" that are immoral or hyper-expensive. Thus, it's hard for me to enjoy listening to the stories some want to share. I have never been a "joiner", unless the focus and mission is strongly held to. I did go to a crochet/knit group that met weekly, and while there were some I enjoyed - and they seemed to enjoy me as well - there's always that one who is never content...the ones who need to manipulate conversation, etc. You are correct in that learning from others can keep us from having to "re-invent the wheel". And that's why I appreciate those of you who post youtube videos. I will never be a long-arm quilter - to late in my life for that type of investment, nor do I want to start-up another business. But I'm enjoying learning about it, and the sewing/quilting tips you share. I will teach anyone who shows an interest to sew; I will help anyone who asks. Certainly, I "do for others" as the Bible says. It's just I prefer my people one-on-one... :-)
Joyce Judd I get it a crowd can hinder the joy.. I had a sewing group I was teaching and I had one lady who just wanted to complain while she watched.. I stopped doing the sew group it wasn’t any fun! I think I’m an introvert .. I recharge being alone.. noise bothers me even drains me. Even though I like human contact I think a balance is where I thrive.. too much I kind of lose strength and patience with peoples behavior.. don’t know if it makes sense.. I think it’s a good trait to be content with yourself .. I find I’m the happiest their.. I’m creative and peaceful just making things with my hands.. I really appreciate your comment and nice to know you.. I pray you are enjoying this journey in your life.. it’s now time to do what makes you happy..
red snap sells the big red clams and they don't do what those that you showed does. i was disappointed so found the big red clams are my favorite. after a time, those you showed don't grip hardly anymore. only used them 3 times to find out. lol
Love those bobbins I bought them on eBay. I love your videos I would like to learn how to free hand quilt and if I continue to look at your video it may encourage me to do something. I have Avante'
Lorena Jamie Wallen (Quilters Apothecary) has some really cool new square rulers out too with handles. Also look for Bethanne Nemesh green French curves awesome!
my machine automatically came with those. just had to buy more. , i used the clams like the ones you showed and decided i did not like them. so i went to wider clamps.
Hi Lorena. Thanks for all of the awesome tips! You said you put a drop of oil between the bobbin and magic geanie. How often do you do it? At the beginning of your quilt? Or every time you change the bobbin? Thank you so much!
Lorena's Quilting Great! Thank you for responding and for doing it so quickly!!! I bought some bobbins from eBay and even though I have the spring in my bobbin case they don't seem to work right! I'm going to try taking the spring out and only using the magic geanie.
Yes the spring and the bobbin genie pushes the bobbin out to much and create a drag! I use them without the spring and they really have helped me with my tension! I hope it works for you, ❤️💕
Lorena, thanks for your wisdom and time! Please tell me where the Longarm group is and when do you meet. What is the name of the group? i have a longarm quilting business and am interested in your group . I am in Texas.
Lorena's Quilting Lorena , are these good on a Gammill classic. It didn’t mention it under the description as one of the machines it worked on. Also do you happen to know if they still make Ruler Mate? Thanks for you’re quick reply
Lorena's Quilting yes you are. I have flatlining on the backside of my quilts. Adjusting hthe tension only helped so much. I am going to try this and see if it helps .
I am not a shy person but it took me trying to talk to at least a hundred wuilting women in the club and only after 10 years of being myself someone actually initiated a conversation with me. I really thought because I was Dutch and like my Welsh mother-in-law who thinks if you are of a different culture you are wrong, not different. Typical English thinking. It gave me many tears until I thought if I change the people that like me won't so stayed my cheerful self xxx
I'm sorry about that experience! I'm sure others in your group felt the same way! My friend said no one would talk to her! Some groups are snooty! If I'm around that I try to make my own group within the group! I try to find other goofy or shy people and connect with them!! It's hard that's why for so many years I didn't even bother! I'm an odd ball some people don't take to me either! I'm playful or loud desperate for human contact I seem need and too much for others! But I have found there is another strange bird like me out there I just need to find them! I have been connecting to two or three people and they have been awesome! Your wonderful. Sometime light is to bright for others!! But regardless they need your light! You bring vitamin D!!!
+Lorena's Quilting You bring something that's probably missing in that culture! Don't let them discourage your wonderful attributes you bring! Jesus said he was a rose among thorns! Maybe your the one that can bring a different fragrance to a community of others! Keep smiling- keep being you! Then maybe one day the will see your s wonderful rose!

I cant talk, I use a talking program and they laugh...
