    Hi Lorena! I just HAD to stop and write to you. Thank you SO much for doing these videos. Every video I watch, I learn form you and I just have to tell you that I thank you to the moon and back. I am new to long arm quilting (I have used my machine 4 times) and I was getting frustrated because I am so nervous to mess up. It was such a simple thing for you to say "buy muslin and practice". It was like you gave me permission to not be perfect just starting out. All your tips have been so helpful, I just ordered thread and muslin and I cant wait to get started. Now, if I can keep my quilt from jumping on the frame while I quilt, maybe my dad's quilt won't look too bad. He is leaving in a week to travel and I want to send it with him. Thank you, Thank you, your new friend in California. :)

      Ahh thank so much.. yes I give permission to fail .. fail a lot.. but I recommend to practice 30 minutes a couple times a week.. if your a perfectionist failure kills you.. so 30 minutes walk away go back a day later and see how un horrible it is.. one little mistake .. hurt but after a while I found out I could just go and throw away the Muslim and then do another day.. I had to only practice in this manner because I would want to panic and my arms were tight my teeth grinding and I wouldn’t breath.. ever 30 minutes you will loosen up and breath and grow...

      I just got my longarm too. Did my grandson quilt. It's not the best but learned a lot along the way. I plan on practicing on cheater tops and then donate to the shelters.

    Also, the advice about muslin was very good. And the fact that you do not need to buy 50,000 new gadgets and tools to get started in Long arming. I'm finding more and more my biggest problem is me I simply need to practice. If they could sell practice in a box for $100 and I would actually be productive with that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. It would save me hours

    Lorena, does the Tension gauge gadget, work for all threads? I usually use Glide and I’m loving the pre-wounds. But sometimes I need to use another brand due to needed color. Also, if the bottom tension is good and I’m seeing a dot of bottom color on the top, it would then be loosen the top? Correct?

  • @roxannegodsey1261

    Thank you for your tips!! I just love your natural explanations and sharing your experience. And I think you are just so sweet and kind!! Could you recommend a long arm system over others? It seems overwhelming. I have a Coronet/Sweet 16 on a little buddy frame. It is just making me want something bigger. Thanks for any advise or video recommendations.

    I have a question for you and hope you remember a tool you suggested a year or 2 ago...a light bar that you laid on the quilt so you could see the stitching. I have tried a few my husband had but not good enough. If you could share that again, I'd be thankful.

    • @ToniNov25
      @ToniNov25  4 года назад +1

      Was it a yellow light that I used when quilting? I got it at lowes and it was rechargeable. I think that the light bar I was using??

    Lorena, Not a complaint, but the background music is a bit loud. Anyone who has hearing aides, will have problems hearing the speaker. Thanks, and sorry to point this out. I love the channel, but sometimes I have problems with the hearning aides and white noise in the background.
