  • Fix the Windows path issue that prevents vboxmanage from working the same on Windows as it does on Linux or macOS. By adding a single line to the system path, you can avoid having to navigate to the install directory of virtualbox to run the vboxmanage command.

      I'm glad you found it useful. My original inspiration for this channel was bringing "extra" information to students in an approachable way. The channel has taken on a life of its own since it's start when I was teaching.
      I'm happy you found this useful.

      Glad it helped. I really wish Oracle would fix the install process so it is more consistent across platforms.

      This should really work in any version of Windows until Oracle decides to fix their installation procedure.

      I'm sorry it didn't work for you. I have used this exact method on multiple Windows machines without any issue reproducing it from machine to machine.
      Perhaps you should head over to the VirtualBox forums and detail how you installed VirtualBox, give details of your computer (OS version, etc), and the instructions you followed, they might be able to help you.

    i'm using ubuntu on windows 10 and i'm trying to run vagrant but it doesn't work, i can't use the command ''vagrant init'', an error happens: The executable 'cmd.exe' Vagrant is trying to run was not
    found in the PATH variable. This is an error. Please verify
    this software is installed and on the path.

      I have never run into such an issue. I also don't have a Windows 10 machine where I can easily test this behavior.
      You probably want to look in the halp area from Hashicorp or maybe Reddit or Spiceworks.

    Great tutorial, is this also possible to do this in CLI?

    • @Practical-IT
      @Practical-IT  Год назад

      There very likely is, I just have not done it that way. You would want to look up how to add to the existing system path.

    Thank you, how can i run the virtualbox servers from the cmd?

    • @Practical-IT
      @Practical-IT  Год назад +1

      You would do this with vboxmanage. Check out this resource from the VirtualBox User Manual
      www.virtualbox.org/manual/UserManual.html#vboxmanage-startvm
      I do not currently have a video that specifically deals with running VMs from the command line, but I have added it to my topics list for 2023.
