What a delightful film- full of humanity, gentle and sometimes slapstick humor. A real gem. Soviet films were so unknown or unrated and yet have great soul and depth- a heck of a lot better than the mindless crap coming out of Hollywood today. Thank you for posting this.
I could say the same about old Hollywood movies, they were brilliant too. It's just the current state of the film industry, in any country pretty much.
I agree that some of the many old Hollywood films were masterpieces, but even today among the independents there are masterpieces- for example, "The International' with Clive Owen, Naomi Watts, and Armin Mueller-Stahl , or The Dancer Upstairs with Javier Bardem, Juan Diego Botto and Laura Morante, or '"Amoureux de Ma Femme" with Daniel Auteil. Gerard Depardieu. Sandrine Kiberlain, and Adriana Ugarte, or, the BBC Series "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy", and "Smiley's People" - with Alex Guiness and some of the very finest British actors, or, :"Game Set Match", again with a marvelous British- and German cast, including Ian Holm, Michael Degen and Gottfried John, to name only a few. @@evgenii759

To see the difference, you don’t even need to watch modern russian cinema - you just need to compare it with the first purely "russian" films after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Да увы закончился, это жалоба у меня очень часто возникает при просмотре советского кино. Только, посмотрел, "Москва слезам не верит" и мне показалось, что время пролетело словно миг!) Запись этого фильма у меня есть, а сюда зашёл посмотреть комментарии это очень интересно и показательно, что думают люди на другом конце света, и вдвойне приятнее, что масса положительных отзывов от Америки до Китая 😊
Personally, I believe Soviet cinema to be indeed extremely underrated, although in comparison to most Hollywood movies (let alone modern chewing gum for the brain like the Marvel ones), it's way subtler, more intelligent and humane. Not arguing Hollywood does not have its masterpieces of cinema, of course it does, but the overwhelming majority of the movies it's made/making cannot really hold up to comparison. I mean, Soviet movies are also not all perfect, but the above applies to the majority of them (at least to the dozens/hundreds of them one can find on the Mosfilm RUclips channel). Not defending the Soviet Union itself, just talking about the cinema. Thank you Mosfilm!

Жили беднее, чем сейчас в России или той же Беларуси. Но работа и заработок был гарантирован любому. Кто-то жил богаче, кто-то беднее. Были убийцы, воры, грабители. Были бессеребреники. Очень старые люди говорили, что до 1917 при Царе жить было лучше (я застал людей, помнивших дореволюционные Россию в сознательно возрасте). В СССР было много хорошего, много плохого. Как везде и как всегда. Вот чего не было, так это страшного-страшного "ГУЛАГа" и ужасного-ужасного "КГБ" в жизни 99% граждан СССР.

brilliant! I saw this masterpiece when I was 16 in a cinema in Tehran and I always remebered it. also seen in the same cinema a film named Idiot ofcourse unfinished made in 1964. My mother is absolutey in love with this movie, but the only language she understands is Spanish. Is there any chance we can get it with Spanish subtitles? It would be her dream come true! She loves it so much, she's seen it once with me (I translated the English subs for her into Spanish many years ago) and ever since, she often watches with no subs at all, just because she loves the movie that much. Вот что меня в русских всегда поражало - это их странная потребность в том, чтобы нравиться каким-то абстрактным иностранцам. Думаю что Джону из Техасса абсолютно по барабану - нравятся ли русским их фильмы или нет.

there are details and subtleties missing in those subtitles. it's rather a general, quick translation, ... after watching more.. quite blunt. there is wordplay here and there, quite often, but the translation often flattens them and renders just general meaning, and cuts some secondary words/phrases too.

I love the music. I've never heard Russian music except male choirs which are nagnificent. I used to listen to Ivan Rebrov under the blankets at boarding school after lights out. I could somehow get Russian radio on a tiny transistor. This light whimsical music and lyrics seems like the French style. It's refreshing and the lyrics are delightful. Thank you
You are in. Film director Eldar Ryazanov was genious of cinema. All his films are excellent. He was #1 in soviet cinema. His films are rewatched several times.

Ну вообще Оля сама очень сильно неправа. Она замужем, он - женат. Юра изначально дал понять, что она ему не нужна. Она сама навязалась, стала преследовать и на улице, и на работе. Он поступил подло, обнародовав письма. Но он не дал ни на минуту понять, что она ему интересна. Поэтому вся их история была только в ее голове.
ВсЕм кто смотрит этот фильм в переводе. Огромный RESPECT! Этот фильм, о том как мы жили и чувствовали! этот мир. И не было ни какой ненависти! Ни к кому! ВООБЩЕ!
Так и сейчас нет. Есть непонимание, ПОЧЕМУ. Почему нас ненавидят, что мы сделали украинцам (не нацистам во власти, а простым украинцам - у нас всех полно родни там, друзей... Почему нас предали практически все бывшие советские республики, с которыми мы жили в мире и согласии? Почему нашего развала хочет запад - понятно. Ресурсы, страх перед нашей силой и наплевательством на их т.н. "ценности", неуправляемость. А вот с бывшими республиками мне совсем непонятна ситуация. Они совсем слепые, глухие, безголовые? Они не видят, что сделал Запад с Украиной? Их точно так же натравят на нас, а потом уничтожат ИХ ЖЕ нашими руками. Вот это всё непонятно. Но ненависти у большинства из них как не было, так и нет.
Just finished watching it (over 2 sessions) and it’s in equal parts, hilarious and heartwarming! I liked Andrei Myagkov in this movie more than in Irony of Fate although that is also good.

Did not know that Soviet cinema was translated into English. It is Soviet cinema, solid masterpieces that have stood the test of time. Modern Russian - films (for the most part) - one-day, looked and forgot.

Wonderfull movie. However Id translate it a little different. More freely and more fancy to catch up the movie humour to be more understandable. Plus tovarishch is not mr.or mrs. but comrade. But the film is great .Soviet films and humour r wonderfull as far as i know Russian language.Unfortunately the English subtitles cant convey Russian humour.
I love this movie. Its so funny. I only wish the English translation was better. So many funny moments are lost, but its still better then nothing. I wish all the Mosfilm movie were redone with professional dubs like they do with Netflix. Now that would've been special.

Ah, Soviet Russia. I suppose so much has changed since I was there. It is the little details of culture that bring out the humor. This was one of the 'new films' when I started Russian. Tough for beginners. No subtitles in sight. Then when I lived there, got a lot more out of it.

There was not a real picture actually. There were rich politicians and people who worked as top of governmental structures. All others were treated as garbage
Не везде так привыкли смотреть иностранные фильмы в дубляже, как у нас. Например, в Америке не очень любят дубляж - так люди больше обращают внимание на несовпадение речи и движения губ, это их сильно отвлекает (помните шутки в "Полицейской академии", когда один из главных героев изображал говорящего по-английски персонажа китайского боевика? Вот что-то в этом роде) - так что там больше принято смотреть с субтитрами.
This is a great movie. One of my favourites, if not the most favourite of the soviet era films. Still when watching it I realise that this depiction of life in that country was by far not exhausting. There has been so much suffering in soviet union.
I’m struggling here. Almlost 40 minutes in and still not much going for a motion picture to entertain viewers!! I just read the comments to grasp any hope and found good ones so.. 🤷🏻♀️ will have to return when able to watch some more. I absolutely loved the ending of the movie. I was laughing so hard my stomach started to hurt. What an amazing chemistry of our main two characters.

А представьте, если бы все вербальные шутки, игру слов и каламбуры реально было бы перевестина английский, их бы тогда вообще разрывало, читаю субтитры и понимаю, что 90 процентов шуток, к сожалению, утеряно

there are details and subtleties missing in those subtitles. it's rather a general, quick translation, ... after watching more.. quite blunt. there is wordplay here and there, quite often, but the translation often flattens them and renders just general meaning, and cuts some secondary words/phrases too.

Такая картина рассазывает о людях и отношениях, взрослых, созревших и чувственных .

I love the music. I've never heard Russian music except male choirs which are nagnificent. I used to listen to Ivan Rebrov under the blankets at boarding school after lights out. I could somehow get Russian radio on a tiny transistor. This light whimsical music and lyrics seems like the French style. It's refreshing and the lyrics are delightful. Thank you

Он поступил подло, обнародовав письма. Но он не дал ни на минуту понять, что она ему интересна.
Поэтому вся их история была только в ее голове.
Меня эта Оля просто из равновесия выводит. Так настырно,бестактно навязываться со своими чувствами ...Это финиш!
Конечно, перевод не передаёт все нюансы языка. Но, думаю, общее настроение понятно. Раз вызывает эмоции, на которые расчитывал автор.

ВсЕм кто смотрит этот фильм в переводе. Огромный RESPECT! Этот фильм, о том как мы жили и чувствовали! этот мир. И не было ни какой ненависти! Ни к кому! ВООБЩЕ!
Так и сейчас нет. Есть непонимание, ПОЧЕМУ. Почему нас ненавидят, что мы сделали украинцам (не нацистам во власти, а простым украинцам - у нас всех полно родни там, друзей... Почему нас предали практически все бывшие советские республики, с которыми мы жили в мире и согласии?
Почему нашего развала хочет запад - понятно. Ресурсы, страх перед нашей силой и наплевательством на их т.н. "ценности", неуправляемость. А вот с бывшими республиками мне совсем непонятна ситуация.
Они совсем слепые, глухие, безголовые? Они не видят, что сделал Запад с Украиной? Их точно так же натравят на нас, а потом уничтожат ИХ ЖЕ нашими руками.
Вот это всё непонятно. Но ненависти у большинства из них как не было, так и нет.

Блин. Жалко субтитры не передают все особенности богатейшей русской речи. Слова «извольте» или «где надо там и находится дверь» переведены обычно и из за этого теряется весь сарказм 😂
Тоже самое хотел сказать, в субтитрах теряется чуть ли не половина эмоций и души этого фильма
Даже к слову "мымра" не верно подобрали перевод😢

Did not know that Soviet cinema was translated into English. It is Soviet cinema, solid masterpieces that have stood the test of time. Modern Russian - films (for the most part) - one-day, looked and forgot.

Wonderfull movie. However Id translate it a little different. More freely and more fancy to catch up the movie humour to be more understandable. Plus tovarishch is not mr.or mrs. but comrade. But the film is great .Soviet films and humour r wonderfull as far as i know Russian language.Unfortunately the English subtitles cant convey Russian humour.

Хороший перевод на английский. Конечно все нюансы невозможно передать на другом языке. Учитывая это, перевод понравился. Один из самых любимых фильмов.

Ah, Soviet Russia. I suppose so much has changed since I was there. It is the little details of culture that bring out the humor. This was one of the 'new films' when I started Russian. Tough for beginners. No subtitles in sight. Then when I lived there, got a lot more out of it.

@@Андрей-г9ц8о You are so young. There were NO subtitles on Soviet films. We got them bootlegged copies because no international agreement and so no subtitles.
@@KawaiiStars Yes, I am much more fluent. Listen to most things without any subtitles. Thank God for youtube and access to Russian language films. Use it or lose it. Just was saying how Soviet life was so different from modern Russian life that new learners may not understand the humor of such films.

There was not a real picture actually. There were rich politicians and people who worked as top of governmental structures. All others were treated as garbage

Не везде так привыкли смотреть иностранные фильмы в дубляже, как у нас. Например, в Америке не очень любят дубляж - так люди больше обращают внимание на несовпадение речи и движения губ, это их сильно отвлекает (помните шутки в "Полицейской академии", когда один из главных героев изображал говорящего по-английски персонажа китайского боевика? Вот что-то в этом роде) - так что там больше принято смотреть с субтитрами.
Искренний, добрый и приятный фильм. Главная героиня великолепна. Любовь помогла ей раскрыть свою внутреннюю и внешнюю красоту. Спасибо.
As an Indian I really loved this movie, I wish I travelled to USSR for once and see its beauty❤ the rain and snow makes the scene aesthetic

This is a great movie. One of my favourites, if not the most favourite of the soviet era films. Still when watching it I realise that this depiction of life in that country was by far not exhausting. There has been so much suffering in soviet union.

I’m struggling here. Almlost 40 minutes in and still not much going for a motion picture to entertain viewers!! I just read the comments to grasp any hope and found good ones so.. 🤷🏻♀️ will have to return when able to watch some more.
