I really like it whenever the narrator says “van Manderpootz”. I just can’t imagine the name being said any other way. It cracks me up EVERY time! Serious!
I think Weinbaum was a genius and the poor guy died way too young.
Very good short story. Entertaining. This was the first of the van Manderpootz series.
VANN! MANDER!! POOTZ!!!!!!! "Bah ... a pack of jackals eating the crumbs of ideas that drop from my feast of thoughts ..."
A very imaginative and amusing spin on the "what if" that we ask ourselves in our lifetime (i.e.what if I had chosen the other career, or moved abroad, or marrried Tom instead of Paul, etc.etc.) And with two funny characters: the rich, spoiled chronic procrastinator and the egomaniac scientist.
What a great listen. Bravo
The great Vanmanderpuets ! Lol I have heard that name in a lot of this authors stories.
I like this post Deco environment .
"that crazy market of 08-09" hehe he he.. [puts on tin hat]
i did not notice it, does he get the dates right as well?
The original What-If machine!! Manderpootz even sounds like farnsworth a bit.
This is pretty much an EXACT DESCRIPTION of The Mandela Effect...Written 75 or 80 years prior at that!
"You'd like to see it [the time machine] ? Is there anything you'd like to find out? Any choice you'd alter?"
I'd like to know what would have happened if I'd sold out my stocks in 2009 instead of '10."
Great story and reading, but what's with his pronunciation of Joanna?
Geas
Sorry Mate.
