- Destiny 2 Season of the Deep - Solo New Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon First Boss Fight - Solo Dungeon Boss Fight - Ecthar, The Shield of Savathun Encounter. Just a quick video showing my first clear of the newly added dungeon during Season of the Deep. Details below.
Other than completely whiffing the first phase, the rest wasn't too bad. A bit crap with other builds though, but this one works quite well.
Posting the first clear as always and I'm learning as I go, so initial runs will be sloppier than usual and take longer. Starting with Hunter for something different this time around. Solo Flawless Ghosts of the Deep and all collectibles will be up a little later today, after the initial clear.

I got up to the damage phase, then was floored by how much health this guy had. I was running Lament, and it was doing scratch damage (by which I mean 2 MILLION Health). I'm certain they gave this guy the health of a Raid boss.

then again yeah lament is not supposed to do scratch damage even during duality day1 so ig yeah guy deffo is on par with kell echo sitting at a buncha millions

Two shotguns, Tractor Cannon, Liar's Handshake, and Arc seasonal mods. This man is living his best life.

@@MAIDANNAUCHIHA he just said it haha. Everything else would be mods that help get ability and health regen back while using melee and class ability and also generate orbs of power on class ability use and punching and most likely rapid weapon kills too.
I don't know if anyone else noticed this. But when Ecthar served Oryx, he was know as the "Sword of Oryx".
Now he has been resurrectioned, he serves Savathûn as her shield.
Savathûn's always loved to dis her brother one way or another.
I remember so she turn Oryx's foster son Alak Hul the Darkblade into the Alak Hul the LightBlade and Ecthar the Sword of Oryx into Ecthar the Shield of Savathun damn that must sting

Pretty cool looking dungeon, love the armor sets too. I like getting challenged but I wish they'd increase how long damage phases are if you're playing solo. Slogging through a handful of damage phases is so tiring.
Or scale the bosses health based on the number of players. But then you get losers complaining that “solo isn’t as much of a challenge then” when failing to understand what challenge means
@@dawsongranger4940 Yeah I'm not really a big fan of making things take longer as a means of making it more "difficult". By then it's not really a challenge anymore it's just a waiting game.
@@dawsongranger4940i would love this because playing solo and working with that is challenge enough without it being a slog. I am ok with all of the ads and everything else staying the same its just that 11 million health is a bit much for one person. You know its bad when the shortest anyone has done the final boss thus far has been half an hour
Yea it’s like spire where the bosses are bullet sponges. I get that you want the bosses to still be challenging for 3 people and the whole thing about “solo is doing something designed for 3 people by yourself” but having it take so long for one person is just boring. It’s not a test of skill when it’s literally doing the same thing over and over and over and over again to chip away at the healthbar. 6 damage phases is just too many imo. I’d be cool with 4. This boss isn’t so terrible but the final boss seems lame as hell. The artificial health increase with the shields is also kind of cheap. Just why? Are there literally no other ways for them to figure out how to make things more “challenging” other than increasing boss health?
@@dawsongranger4940 Yea the only reason I dont do solo dungeons is because of how long it takes, it should take about 3 or 4 phases solo with a damage set up
Did five damage phases. Got killed randomly. Death report - 12 Million damage. I was only 2/3rds done. 8 fucking damage phases. I left the activity. Fuck that shit.

The amount of times I've tried soloing and I only need like 2 or phases left and I get bonked away so I can't melee anyone and die. It's pure pain
Never thought they'd bring Ecthar back. Just a shame he doesn't look anything like his original form, which was pretty cool.
What? His original form just looked like a normal hive knight with some extra armor. This looks way fucking cooler, hes got fins and gill looking things and it really fits the theme of the dungeon, and he is terrifying underwater.

This guy has so much freaking health. As a solar titan with witherhoard & throne cleaver, it took 8 damage phases. Almost an hour. I'm obviously doing things wrong and there's huge room for improvement, but damn... I'm not looking forward to the final boss.

@@james-andrew-adams synthos + tractor + bonk + Iterative loop for voltshot can three phase solo kill him if perfect. Saltgreppo used it in solo flawless day one

Another quite impressive run! This is what I'm used to seeing from you...and it is still awe inspiring, nonetheless.
At this point I am convinced Esoterick works for Bungie
if you want an even better strat that I've found, use synthos and tractor cannon with hammer of sol and roaring flames/sunspot aspect, run around killing everything you need with melees constantly replenishing your health and doing the encounter as you would with normal steps, then for dps use tractor cannon then pop hammer of sol and use it on the boss, while trying to stay near enemies to proc synthos. once super is used do the same thing just with your hammer melee. I dont have any good shotguns with one two punch, but it definitely would do even more damage. You also might want to kill a knight or something near you during dps with melee to replenish roaring flames. I did a decent bit more damage than eso per damage phase.

Tried soloing this. I did 10m damage like 4 different times and he always still had like 20-30% health left. Honestly I'm not even mad about his health, the biggest problem with this dungeon is that I spec'd into 3 arc resist mods with 100 resil and if I had to reload for one sec the lucent moths on the enemies I killed would bomb me and insta kill me.
it's more beneficial to use a variety of resist mods than to triple up on arc/solar/whatever mods for your chest. So like element resist, concussive dampener, maybe a melee/range resist mod. It gives better survivability
@@SJSharkByte Tried the combo of arc resist, concussive, and melee range. Was still getting almost 1 tapped by moths. Genuinely they do too much damage. Also got sent to orbit by bungie themselves when I had the last boss at like 10% HP. Guess they found out I didn't buy anything on eververse this season.

they work well for this encounter but seem kinda unnecessary for final boss and the "parkour" section is excruciatingly longer than it needs to be

Finally, using the arc exotic. So sick of content creators promoting AC and going into raids, GMs, dungeons with people running AC and consistently dying lol. Liars handshake is S tier for all content.

If only. Synthos on Solar Titan is an easy 2-3 phase with bonk hammer.
Esoterickk final boss Arbelest is 1 shot for shield. I used linear after for bait and switch. Was doing good damage. Trying solo flawless tomorrow. 👍
I personally think the health of the boss in dungeons should scale to the play count. The last 2 dungeons have had bosses with a ridiculous amount of health for a solo. I mean yes it's still very do able but come on now no one wants to have to do the mechanics 10 times.
Yea I get the whole argument of “well solo is challenging because you’re doing something meant for 3 people by yourself” but goddamn there has got to be some kind of balance. I’m ready to fall asleep by the fourth or fifth damage phase. Imo having to do the same shit over and over and over and over again to get to damage isn’t a test of skill. A test if endurance maybe but there comes a point where it’s just a boring slog of a challenge instead of something thrilling and fun. Like “ok clearly I can get to damage just fine can the encounter be over already.”

wasnt Ecthar one of the give knights that spoke to oryx in a cutscene after he destroyed the awoken? If i recall he was also involved in the exotic sword quest where you had to kill 3 knights and fight him with your sword
Ye i think he was that one knight with the glowing white eyes and special sword who talked to Oyrx in the starting mission of the Taken King expansion

Resurrecting Oryx
This is all about how Xivu tracked down oryx body in Titan and found he was dead and wanted to resurrect him. It’s also the fact that she didn’t know he was slained because of Savathun.
They were doing a ritual to resurrect Oryx and make him a Lightbearer

Wastelander M5 has both Enhanced Lead from Gold and One-two Punch.
Without Remorse has both Enhanced Threat Detector and One-two Punch.

mate can a youtuber make an actual solo dps build for this for Warlocks. I use sunbracers but man my damage is low as heck. Doing 2 million a dmg phase leaves a ton to be desired.
The feeling when you're trying to solo a dungeon and see that even the solo god himself needs almost 20mins for this fight......I guess I'm gonna be stuck on this whole 'Soloing this dungeon' thing..

Literally just happened to me and a friend and Bungie didn't even expect it I guess because it breaks the fight and you can't progress
@@ballballball238 it shouldnt break the fight, it happened to us at both bosses and each time they just respawned with a small amount of health and we had to do an additional phase

If you don't kill it, the hive guardian revives itself
It's rezs and then bugs the game to where you can't progress because Bungie

Why use liars handshake instead of Assassins Cowl? Wouldn't the invisibility and healing help alot for survivability?
Liars deals more damage, and the invisibility wasn't needed here as there's so many enemies to constantly proc it. The healing from the second hit of Liars is also nice for surviving the boss

(in case you were still confused) you don't need the deepsight to collect the underwater runes, it's only needed above ground to see which runes you need to pick up

Just done my solo clear with Lament well against him. Just make sure to have your sword charge mods on along with scavs. P.S: I also used Felwinter's helm for the weaken with the ads in the room.

You’d lose half of your damage for survivability you don’t need
gaining invisibility + full health regen while losing blinding effects on melee hits + 2/3 health regen on every second hit and 200% increased boss damage after being hit by melee damage

I was excited at first but after doing the Bosses id rather not touch this dungeon ever again
(Easy mechanics and looks cool but way way too many ads for no reason and the boss fights are horrible)
I will agree, aesthetically it looks nice and is something different but the constant ads, remembering symbols, trying to survive, no mobility in tight spaces during dps & both bosses have around 10-13mil HP makes it extra hard for no reason

Sumbracers are crazy too. Soloed him using sunbracers with lament on well. Hated the fight tbh, boss has ridiculous hp for a solo kill

Basically you look at the runes on the wall, go underwater pick up the runes corresponding to the ones chained on the wall, resurface, kill the lucent hive wizards, deposit your buff in the vestige deposits and go to kill the knight that holds the aura buff, after killing him you get a buff that allows you to break Ecthar’s shield

@@pokemonadmin99 Destiny players when they have to learn to put a buff in an objective for the 58th time. This dungeon's mechanics were easy
kill blistering knights, acquire deepsight buff in middle, look at runes on left and right wall, interact with same runes underwater (in no particular order), go up, kill lightbearer wizards, interact with all three statues (need buff from killing witches to do so), kill wellkeeper knight, damage boss, repeat. sounds complicated but got it down messing around by myself for about 5 minutes.
@@pokemonadmin99 bro, wtf its literally is just duality, you see symbols in the "surface", go to the "other side", grab said symbol, kill some enemy, dunk the symbol,kill more enemy, boss damage. The difference with duality is that in duality you used a bell, and here you go underwater
