When I start off as turkey I first go for Iraq and syria since they have high population and then I try and take the rest of the countries in the orient then I go for the balkans

Sometimes the Balkans start getting invaded by another player like Italy or someone in the Balkans, so if I know the Middle East is empty, I generally take one country from the Balkans and one from the Middle East
