There is always a pleasant surprise or twist that really MAKE the look. It's quite admirable when people pay attention detail. Detail is key! I hope you continue to prosper.

    By the way Violette... how did you become fluent in English? Was it from living in the United States? I have been studying Spanish and French for years but am not all the way fluent yet.

    • @violettefr
      @violettefr  7 лет назад +3

      Hi Lindsey ! So I was in an american boarding school for 3 years from when I was 9 to 12 years old. It was 50% talking in english so it was intense enough to train my brain ! Then I moved to NYC when I was 18 for a year. It helped me too a lot. But what really made the difference is that since 5 years I got to go to NYC very often for my job and the fashion industry language is english ;-)
      and it's been 2 years I live in nyc with an american boyfriend which helps a lot ;-)
      English is easier than french. French is tough so it's normal to have trouble to learn ! I feel that to be fluent you need to live to the country... being immersed ... it's amazing that you're learning though !! xoxo

    • @lindseymattson7700
      @lindseymattson7700 7 лет назад

      You're lucky you got that exposure to english at a young age! I started Spanish in school at 13, which is pretty late. I started French at 18, but like you said, it is difficult. My professor is Belgian so listening to his accent helps a lot with my comprehension, but speaking is a challenge lol. I know I would definitely need to live in Europe for a while to get completely fluent. Thanks for sharing your story! :) I major in Spanish and minor in French at school so I'm very impressed when I see people who are completely fluent in two languages. It's a big inspiration!

    Hola Violette! I heard you say in this video that you wash your hair once a week. In other of your videos (Get Ready With Me by Glossier) you comment that you have oily skin. In general, when you have oily skin, that also means that the scalp is oily too. So I'm wondering how do you take care of your hair so it does not look disgusting at the end of the week... Culturally speaking, in my country that kind of hair care is very rare especially for young people, but I recently learn that wash it every day is very unhealthy.
    I know this is not your field of expertice but I just want to know about your own experience (I also read that this is a "french way" to take care of hair, so on that side you have full authority, right? :D). If it's not much to ask, can you describe your week hair routine?
    Greetings from the south of Chile! Chao!

    Violette, i was soooo excited to see you uploaded this and I was not disappointed! Found your channel through glossier and I've binge watched your videos - you inspire me to go for minimal skin makeup, yet experiment with my eyes and lips! Such a refreshing change from all the Instagram makeup you see now a days! You seem to nail fun looks in a very French way which I love, you keep them effortless without taking away from the natural beauty! I adore you!!! ❤️ p.s - I hope you had a lovely holiday and birthday! X

    Thanks so much for this video Violette, I was admiring your hairstyle in another video,it really is a gorgeous hairstyle, Laurent is an amazing hair stylist
    My hair is long and naturally wavy/curly used to be type 3a now it is more type 2c. I have defined s shape waves , in fact it looked just like the waves he created albeit slightly thicker.
    Fringes are a big pain to me, as having a heart shaped face, I have to have them side swept and they are so difficult to maintain I usually cut up in to them and cut the ends of diagonally as trying to leave them wispy at the sides of the temples and then just grazing the brow bone, I find maintaining the same shape fringe done in the salon is really difficult.
    Merci beaucoup pour cette coiffure sans effort/ trios fois rien

    It looks good at that moment when you finish, but whose hair will hold these 1 min curls after an hour? The hairs strands barely even touch that iron. The time I would reach the last section the one had already straightened. I wish I could have loose curls somehow, which last...

    Could you do a day to night real time style video? I'd like to see you show what your handbag essentials are for both time periods and your clothing changes/additions to transition through these time periods. I'd also love a lazy Sunday video and a where to go in NY for different reasons I.e for breakfast, to get groomed, to find peace and quiet, to shop etc. Thanks!
