I guess you totally forgot about Howard Cosell's on air remark that saw his career crumble when a commentator for Monday Night Football on September 5, 1983, Cosell made a comment about the Washington Redskins wide receiver, Alvin Garrett, in which he compared Garrett to a 'little monkey'. The fallout contributed to Cosell's decision to leave Monday Night Football following the 1983 season.
That sad situation with the Garrett comment by Cosell actually belongs in this infamous list more than a few mention here. I would have even lowered Paula Abdul's weird behaviors (rumored to be on heroin) to at least the #19 or #20 or even dishonorable mentioned list. PS Cosell was still part of ABC's MLB Baseball Coverage until the end of the 1985 season. Then when he came out with a book criticizing everyone at ABC including his long time Boss Roone Arledge, then he was fired. The Cosell departure at ABC and end of his life considering at 1 point he was among the most famous Sports Commentators on the planet should have at least been TOP 10 IMO.

And Cosell was never fired or even suspended.
I can't believe Jessica Savitch didn't make this list! In fact, I was waiting for her to come in as #1. She was one of the most visible women in television and a growing force in TV news. She went live on a news update where she slurred, stumbled, and generally gave the impression of being under the effects of illegal substances. Add to that her hot mike rants about the production staff and it was clear she was going down. Arguably the single most dramatic fall in TV news history. If you Google "when it's a women in her prime" the first results say "20's, 30's, and 40's." So what was the problem, far too many women think their emotions dictate how the world operates and reality. A women's prime is DEFINITELY her 20's and MAYBE 30's and 40's is she's lucky. That's life. Women are born with value, men half to create ours. Women can't even be honest with themselves without getting mad and unnecessarily emotional.
The Angel Cardenas one is kind of sad. You know the guy worked hard and was probably solid in his field. I can almost guarantee he was told by his bosses that he had to be more colorful/ outlandish/ and entertaining. His anxiety is palpable throughout that debacle. It's a shame he couldn't just be himself throughout his segments, probably the reason he got the job in the first place
IF that was sarcasm.. then it was poor timing and a terrible choice. (Read the room) They were having a serious discussion about a problem. It still comes off as prejudice and ignorant. She definitely was trying to make a "valid" point using sarcasm. But behind it was ignorance.

Brain Williams left MSNBC almost 2 years ago. I was waiting for Don Imus’s downfall. Remember when he called black, female basketball players from Rutgers University nappy headed hos after commenting on their looks and tattoos? He shoulda been on this list somewhere.
I could be wrong but probably the reason IMUS was not on this infamous list is this. He was primarily a Radio Talk Show Host that later in his career had his shows broadcast on National Cable TV i.e 1st C-Span and later MSNBC and Fox Business.
I'm not at all a Lara Logan fan, however, I feel it remiss not to mention she went through a horrifyingly traumatic experience reporting on the Arab Spring, and I think her inability to work through that trauma in therapy (sometimes therapy just fails--some baggage carries heavier than others) ruined her unbiased perspective, and led her into the far-right. I hope, some day, she heals.
Agree Bob. WatchMojo does a good jobs with these surveys and lists. However they do make mistakes such as Mr. Williams no longer with NBC/MSNBC. Or not at least as a "dishonorable mention" having say Howard Cosell career and soon after his life ending after a controversial use of the "Monkey" term on a NFL player during the 1983 season.
Every outlet of TV that says we don’t express the same views as this person that just got fired is a liar. They’re probably worse than what the guy who got fired said.
Why is it when it comes to these lists Don Immes's remarks towards the Rutgers women basketball team is never mentioned. I just think his remarks are more despicable then someone dropping the F bomb on live TV.
I cannot think of a single human being who would have an issue with using the word "prime" to explain that someone is in their best condition. It's extremely worrying that the moment you think of "women" and "prime" you also think of animals. No human, ever, has made that comparison but you.

I remember watching Jimmy The Greek saying those ridiculous racist lies about the physicality of Black athletes. I was a 20 something Black athlete. It sounded so crazy all i could do was laugh. I knew the moment he stopped talking he was out of a job. You can find it easy on RUclips.
He wasn't lying. During Chattel Enslavement, they would purposely sxually assault and impregnate Blck Americans to get better physical traits. It's nothing new either and has been done historically, especially in various other types of Enslavement to get certain looks/features. It is why Blck Americans are genetically predisposed to be bigger, stronger, etc. Now, his and others' jealous racism over it definitely stems from the freedom of those formerly enslaved and the end of Reconstruction, thus entering the Blck Codes and Jim Crow. It is why Blck people are hypersexualized and fetishized. You'll not find anybody more obsessed over BBC than a yt male followed pretty evenly with yt women.
Look for "Jimmy the Greek comments that got him fired" by k9buzby. He basically said that if black people move into coaching, there wouldn't be anything left for the white man.
I'm no fan of the Bush family, but I felt kind of bad for Billy Bush. Some folks, in spite of themselves, might let a nervous laugh escape when they are interviewing a (supposedly) important public figure and said figure says something that no one in the room is comfortable with (save for the asshole making the statement.) That was a case being penalized for another person's crime (a crime we now know Mr. Trump committed on multiple occasions.)
Dropping the “F” bomb on live tv , doesn’t that make the station/ network incur hefty fines from the FCC? I can remember when a local & popular anchor accidentally said the “f” word on live tv, she got suspended for 6 months
The shitty thing about the Billy Bush incident is that you could throw almost any entertainment reporter in his situation and the same thing is going to happen. Their job is the smile and nod and keep the star talking, and that’s what he was doing. Obviously Trump is a creep, but I imagine that he would not have said shit like that if people don’t encourage him by agreeing or not saying that is wrong.
I disagree. Bush was being deceptive and unethical. Trump didn't know he was being recorded and I'm sure he wouldn't have given permission for that to be released. This reminded me of that Connie chung incident. Only difference is that the media wasn't so far gone in that era, they were still able to realize that chung stepped over the line.

That's what I was thinking too. There must be some other details that we're not aware of.
Sadly there weren’t.
The person at the console (I forget what they're called), who pushes the button to change the camera back to her, should have given a countdown, 3, 2, 1. That used to be the way it was done in my short stint as a master control operator for a local TV station back in the mid 90's, before computers took over. Surely they have something similar in this "advanced" age of electronics. It sounds to me like the boss screwed up and the anchor lady got fired for it. Maybe that person didn't like her so they just switched the camera back to her without a countdown.
Billy Bush was fired, fired from a TV show! The guy who said all those things went on to be President of America. Are you kidding me?

This is why I don’t want to be famous or in the public.
I second that. I was on the local 11PM news years ago for a robbery I didn't see. "Tell us what you saw" Nothing "And how did that make you feel, like a victim?" No, I'm just hungry. Please go away.
People are so hypocritical. Let any one of us have some of our private conversations publicized and we'd ALL come under fire.
literally, anyone who says otherwise is lying
100% of people, if they had the past 5 years of their lives examined, would absolutely be utterly fucking destroyed in the public eye. It doesn't matter what you think, how you feel, how careful you've been, or how you lean one way or the other in any matter. The standards for what is and isn't appropriate is extremely blurred, inconsistent, and far more hurtful than it is helpful
Good thing Google Glasses aren't still a thing. Kids pushing their teachers buttons until she snaps, then you're on Y-Tube as crazy teacher sent for sensitivity training. The Kelly Osborn one is the best. She really thought she had a mic drop moment
And Kelly's Mom, Sharon, called what she does a "50 year long career." Her career was being married and managing Ozzie.
Calling someone a liar is not racist. Especially since that person has been proven over and over to be a consistent compulsive liar.
To me the Kelly Osborne comment highlighted the hypocrisy. She literally said the same thing numerous reporters and stars had said and still say.
Honestly, the fact Sharon Osbourne still had a job after she and several others on The Talk made jokes about a man who was sexually mutilated by his wife, going so far as to talk about how "fabulous" it was, and implying he probably deserved it. She is a horrible human being - if you can even call her that - and the fact that wasn't the end of her career is nothing short of disgusting
Now let's talk about the hags on "The View"... 🤣
Yup
Imagine being too right wing for Fox News 😂
I'm sorry, I know swearing on news TV is considered unprofessional but I absolutely DESPISE when anyone is shamed for saying curse words especially if it's on accident. I just can't believe that people care that much. Like seriously, who cares? I doubt anyone bats an eye when someone cusses on camera.
Howard how could you? The first guy to publicly address Cassius Clay as Muhammad Ali does this? I don't remember that but I'll take your word for it.
@@dicksonfranssen You can Wiki it. It was a big deal at the time.
@@americangiant1003 We had a family friend who worked for Roone Arledge and she made it clear Arledge was a reasonable man but was not to be provoked. Saying something in the heat of the moment is one thing, putting it in a book is something else. What did Cosell expect to happen? There's a few comments here expressing their undying love for Paula Abdull. She's a cheerleader who finished high school and got lucky, that's it. I wish her the best but I hope she saved some money and has a good agent, she's nothing special.
@@dicksonfranssen Great Point. There was a way for Cosell to be “honest” in his book without throwing his long time colleagues and bosses under the bus. Howard could have been much nice to Roone especially several times during the 1970s Cosell was live on the air being drunk during Monday Night Football broadcasts. And Cosell was never fired or even suspended.
Recurring theme that those that stepped up and apologized got absolutely slammed afterwards!
True, she died in a car crash only weeks later, but that's no reason to let her off the hook.
You have a good memory. That took place 40 years ago on an NBC News brief.
Well, I'm old. What can I say? @@johnmeyer3802

The Megyn Kelly one was the most ridiculous reaction to a segment I’ve ever heard. She simply stated that things used to be different, big deal. She far better off now anyway with her own podcast. She’s killing it!
Yes! Megyn Kelly most definitely landed on her feet! She has more than 1.5 million subscribers on her RUclips channel alone, and I'm sure she has many more on her Sirius XM channel.
It’s a shame that some peoples careers were ruined over a honest mistake.

It's a shame that some peoples lives were cut short over honest journalism and reporting. RIP Gary Webb.
The pen one and Fbomb one shocked me. Its such a dumb reason to fire someone.
@@RayGainbows fbomb kind of makes sense cos TV stations get fined for breaking the rules for age and that, in Britain it's called the watershed and there's an independent governing body that makes sure they stick to it. Yeah it was an accident, but she probably cost them a lot of money

I always figured the pen lady wasn't entirely fired because she was daydreaming but because of her wacky meme like reaction in front of the camera instead smoothly playing it off
At 7:21 ...so what???...she didn't know she was miked!!!! Like no one has ever said that word...Plus, It's on cable!!!! She should NOT have been fired for something that insignificant...
That's what NBC gets for picking Megyn Kelly over Tamron Hall.
@jaxjaxattaxx😂😂😂
How she made it that far in life is a mystery. An MRI of her head would confirm the doctor's findings, it's completely empty.
who?
Judging by her show on RUclips, she's just as bad now.

The Angel Cardenas one is kind of sad. You know the guy worked hard and was probably solid in his field. With regards to your last story about Brian Williams, he actually left MSNBC in November 2021. It’s almost been two years that he hasn’t been on air.
I was looking for this comment. I was gonna say, I definitely remember him retiring a couple years ago now.
In some of these, I wonder if the station was itching to find an excuse to fire the person anyway.

Brian Williams left NBC in 2022. Also you said the bachelor started in 1994 when it started in 2002. Do your research.
