If you ever feel like the anime is dragging out, don't forget that the manga's quicker paced and has no filler. You can find which chapters the episodes correspond to either on wikipedia or on the One Piece wiki.
And there I was just wrapping up another reaction channel’s LA One Piece reactions and y’all post this. Thanks! Considering the wait until Seasons 2 reactions like this, catching up on the manga and following the cast’s social (especially Emily’s 😍) are making the wait easier. I was a big OP fan as a kid but fell off 10 years ago but the LA has reignited my love for it and I’m glad the show has introduced so many to the Straw Hats
As someone who had One Piece on their watch list and watched the Live Action first I was hooked!! I thought it was so fun & it finally got me to watch the anime. Oda had a huge part in production and as a viewer I can see his influence.
We never saw the fight between zoro and number 7 it was referenced and freaking the GOAT was like oh here's what he looks like drew him up and said put him in the show.
Glad to see you guys checking this out! Rick, gotta let you know that they reveal something in the middle of the season that *is* canon, but isn’t revealed until episode 300-something in the anime. Also, part of the reason why Zoro looks so good in his fights is that his actor, Mackenkyu, is a real life martial artist. His father is martial arts legend Sonny Chiba, and 99%of the time it’s him doing his own stunts. In fact he was so fast that he actually had to slow down so that the other stuntmen could keep up with him. Hell, this is not even the first time he’s done a live action anime adaptation where he plays a swordsman. He’s in the Ruroni Kenshin live action too.
Damn so fast? It took me 10 yrs to catch up to op since I always took breaks in between. I am so happy the new remake is coming out in a few years this will attract new fans and will consent the show from 1000 + to 300-400 episodes
As a long time anime fan I’ve often criticized and made fun of One Piece…I have to admit. This show was so charming and fun it made me start the anime 😂 But oh gods I just can’t watch that many episodes, so I’ve been reading it! I currently have volumes 1-12! I’m planning to actually schedule it out and try to finish it in about a year (probably more) I hate to say it, but they’re right One Piece is amazing
Inaki plays his own version of Luffy, but he's still clearly Luffy. You can substitute pretty much any actor/character pair into this statement, and this is the most impressive thing about the live action, to me.
As someone who has read the Manga and watched the anime myself, I was delighted that they leaned in to this 1000%. There's no real way to do One Piece halfway, it's very much a all or nothing show. One can tell that Mr. Oda had his hands fully on this project.
i said this while watching it with a friend but i have never seen anyone as well cast as that mountain bandit it looks like they found like one of oda's friends that the character was modeled off its fantastic
One Piece Live Action is what got me into One Piece! I was definitely too critical about it when I was younger but watching this OP series with my friends and having a fun time watching, or crying, really made realize I never gave it a fair chance. I know you're probably done with it by now, but I hope you guys had a blast watching it too I AM SUPER HYPED for the One Piece season 2 AND AND remake by WIT and maybe that'd be a better anime reaction series depending on how they adapt it
The den den mushi are weird, but not a difficult thing to adapt to live action. They are telepathic snails that act like phones. As long as you don't overthink it they were something that could always be in live action, so I was very happy they were actual snails (who thankfully still look very weird) and not actual phones that look like snails. The best part for me is that I can't quite tell if they are practical or cgi effects.
Hardcore Critiques in the Reaction Community like Badd Medicine have all given this a 5 out of 5!!! This is a masterpiece of a show and I'm so sad the rest of Blind Wave isn't here to see it :( it's a rare thing indeed
With Nami she was looking for a marine thats her height so she could steal their clothes. The guy was too tall for her so she wouldn’t fit in his clothes
RICK!!!! So glad to see him in the reaction! It will be interesting to see the different perspectives from Aaron and Calvin watching the new OP anime, Rick seeing the live action and experienced much of the manga and original anime, and Eric only being caught up on the live action.
One Piece, LET'S GO! Blind Wave finally joins the fleet of Straw Hat Pirates fans! I can't wait for the 2nd season of the One Piece Live Action and The One Piece Anime Remake!
Why would you fangirl, each scene is inferior to the original, so if you were that obsessed wouldn't you be more so frustrated at every scene, I know I was.
@@-tom-8720 proud of you, folk will see your comment and go "people like *this guy* think the Live Action is worse than the Anime...", and that'll probably give them a better opinion of the Live Action.
3:37 Funny considering the narrator played Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean 4. 4:04 If you finished Impel Down arc, this woman will give you a Real scare. I was like "Thank goodness, she wasn't smoking a cigar."🤣 I'm surprised Rick didn't put 2 + 2 together.
The hardest part of this insanity is Luffy. You can find someone that can fight with swords, you can find someone that can fight with staves, but finding someone likeable? Thats hard. They nailed everything.
I genuinely never thought they’d react to this. I had never watched one piece out of fear of it being so long, and this show brought me into it because of how much I loved this version. I am now currently at Long Long Island in the Manga and Drum Island in the anime, and I still look back fondly on this adaptation for being very fun and faithful and getting me interested in such an awesome story. I love all the cast too, especially Iñaki. Also the manga is my favorite version of the story, followed by the live action, then the anime. (Although I’m sure the anime becomes even more exciting than it is where I’m at from what I heard)
Absolutely, I'm surprised you prefer the Live Action over the Anime, did you watch the anime from ep 1, because I can't understand not enjoying, the better dialouge, more complex plot and better portrayal of key scenes.
I’m glad you decided to do this and meet me in the middle, all of you should be here but I understand why you’d split it for content reasons and I’ll take what I can get!!
I wish all blind wave members react to this show, so we can have more non-fan and fans view points, they create this live action for the people who are not a fan of anime.
If you've seen Rurouni Kenshin then you've most likely already seen Mackenyu (Zoro) fight, he played Enishi in The Final. It's been revealed that the stuntmen for the live action couldn't keep up with him, he was too fast, so they had to dial down the action a bit. I really hope they hire better choreographers and stuntmen down the line to really show off what he's capable of because he can do A LOT. Really glad you're enjoying it so far!
Fun fact, the death scene of roger seems to be inspired by a real pirate, called olivier levasseur aka "la buse" who lived in the 1600s. He was sentenced to death on reunion island. It's a local legend here, they said that with a rope around his neck, he throwed a mysterious cryptogram to the crowd while shouting "find my treasure he who can". To this day his legendary treasure is still lost, though people tried to find it and it's estimated around 4 billions euros today. A "fake" grave build for his memory is still located in a cemetary on reunion island :))
The original Luffy is such an insane, comical, cartoonishly manic character that his personality seems almost impossible to accurately translate into live action. I feel like it wouldn’t have felt believable on an actual person. This version of Luffy feels a lot more realistic and human while still managing to read as Luffy. I think they did a great job with him!
No you don't. Times it by 5 for just this season in the original then you know why people love early one piece. Unironically times it by like 24 or 25; then you know why people love One Piece overall.
Got caught up to the anime/manga in August of 2021 and can confidently say that this is the best piece of fiction I’ve ever consumed. One piece is not the longest running Anime, Thats Sazae-san which is nearing 8000 episodes, One piece is not even in the top 5 i believe
I think that's what a good adaptation does. Gets you into the original and you can enjoy both!
Vincent Reagan (Garp) is such an underrated actor in my opinion
also an absolute handsome fella
REAL
I loved him in 300!
I remember him being an older brother to Joseph Gilgun in "Lockout". Good actor.
@@yevtushenka I also remember him being an buck in Joan of arc the messenger
They managed to balance casting, costume ,set design and camera work so well to built a campy cartoony feel to the world
They really did. They used the fantastical and grounded it just enough, that it feels real.
This is one of the best live action adaptations of anything I've ever seen. There's still some changes here and there, but regardless, It's almost perfect. I'll admit when they broke the curse, I cried a little.
They did a great job with this.
Speed Racer and Alita: Battle Angel would like a word.
@@sillygoose7646 Those are good but didn't broke the curse
They're already replacing this show 😅😅😅
@@roflcakes7224Because it only has 8 eps lol
as someone who hasnt watched the anime, i'm ~ half way through the live action, and I think its done a great job of not only introducing me to the world and the characters, but also convincing me why I SHOULD watch the anime.
My jaw literally dropped when I reloaded my feed and this vid showed up. It’s unfortunate that this is not a whole crew reaction but I know Eric and Rick will enjoy this!🔥
They already replacing it 😅😅😅
@@roflcakes7224bc they finished it 🤨
@@roflcakes7224because they’ve finished it on patreon
As a person who had never watched any anime I loved this show it has actually made me more interested in anime
I love how OPLA Zoro thinks that a bad haircut is worse than death lmao
I am commenting before watching, but I have one word for this: FINALLY!!! Seriously, I was begining to think Blind Wave wasn't going to react to this, which was making me sad, because you are the guys I most have been wanting to see react to this!
Edit: You are going to have to bring Calvin and Aaron up to date with this too.
I’m about to finish the Impel Down arc in the anime. I started watching the anime (my first anime actually) because of the live action. Best show ever :)
Impel Down is soooo good!!
That's great to hear 😁
Get the whole crew to watch this
Wait for the remake for the rest of them
This is amazing, and I am sitting here watching with a big smile on my face. What a series to get the ol' Rick x Eric combo back for!
wish it was the whole crew watching this but i’m glad to see rick back! also just extremely excited for this ride, i love this show and i hope you enjoy it too

- Here are a few Easter eggs like:
- At the very start of the series on the map we can see the Oro Jackson, Momoo, a Sea king, a bird that looks like the South Bird, & Tequila Wolf
- The woman that ran in front of the execution platform is wearing a Criminal fashion brand
- In the restaurant Food Foo there is a barrel that says “Mikio Itoo” a reference to Oda’s earliest Easter egg of a wanted man
- Notice that Alvida has mirrors on her ship when in fact that in an SBS Oda stated that there were none on the Miss Love Duck
- The Barrel that Luffy gets into has a name on the lid which is called Gyoru which is a named citizen / fishmonger of Windmill Village
- The matches that Zoro used are called The Beast of Baldimore which is a reference to what Franky was called on Katakuri Island
- Sixis island was actually an island that was first introduced in Ace’s novel where Ace was shipwrecked onto at the start of his journey where he meets his 1st mat Masked Douce & where he ate the Flame-Flame Fruit
- Wanted Posters in Shells Town: Buggy, Alvida, Foxy, Jango, Bellamy, & Cavendish
- 77th Division that Nami said she was part of an actual known branch lead by Pudding Pudding
These are great notes. Even though my heart breaks when people don’t reference Ian McShane for his most iconic role (Deadwood)
No Reagan notes?
Bro, you cool
Zorro's actor being Sonny Chiba's son you just know they gotta give him some good martial arts parts to do!
i love this adaptation! i knew about one piece before but never watched it. and then i saw the first episode of the live action and then stopped and went and i saw the first 100 episodes of the anime and then came back to finish the live action and now i'm continuing with the anime :)
If you ever feel like the anime is dragging out, don't forget that the manga's quicker paced and has no filler.
You can find which chapters the episodes correspond to either on wikipedia or on the One Piece wiki.
21:59 the way they do the bounty introductions is so cool, one of the best ideas in the live action.
The live action was so cool, it turned me into a fan of the anime.
She said the marine guy in the bar was too tall as she wanted to steal a uniform and needed someone her size.
It was my first one piece experience and now ive watched the whole anime
Damn so fast? It took me 10 yrs to catch up to op since I always took breaks in between. I am so happy the new remake is coming out in a few years this will attract new fans and will consent the show from 1000 + to 300-400 episodes
@@gamingparadise3390 It was like crack. lol.
@@TheJediOtakudid you pick up the manga where the anime had ended after that?
As a long time anime fan I’ve often criticized and made fun of One Piece…I have to admit. This show was so charming and fun it made me start the anime 😂
But oh gods I just can’t watch that many episodes, so I’ve been reading it! I currently have volumes 1-12! I’m planning to actually schedule it out and try to finish it in about a year (probably more) I hate to say it, but they’re right One Piece is amazing
Nice! 😂
Inaki plays his own version of Luffy, but he's still clearly Luffy. You can substitute pretty much any actor/character pair into this statement, and this is the most impressive thing about the live action, to me.
It is SO good to see Rick back! Not ever fully gone of course but we still missed seeing you at the table man!
As someone who has read the Manga and watched the anime myself, I was delighted that they leaned in to this 1000%. There's no real way to do One Piece halfway, it's very much a all or nothing show.
One can tell that Mr. Oda had his hands fully on this project.
As someone who has never watched or read the anime/manga, i really enjoyed this show.
Vincent Regan would be the perfect recast for Ray Stevenson in Star Wars
i've been looking for One Piece LA reactions lately, this came at the right time!
i said this while watching it with a friend but i have never seen anyone as well cast as that mountain bandit it looks like they found like one of oda's friends that the character was modeled off its fantastic
One Piece Live Action is what got me into One Piece! I was definitely too critical about it when I was younger but watching this OP series with my friends and having a fun time watching, or crying, really made realize I never gave it a fair chance.
I know you're probably done with it by now, but I hope you guys had a blast watching it too
I AM SUPER HYPED for the One Piece season 2 AND AND remake by WIT and maybe that'd be a better anime reaction series depending on how they adapt it
The den den mushi are weird, but not a difficult thing to adapt to live action. They are telepathic snails that act like phones. As long as you don't overthink it they were something that could always be in live action, so I was very happy they were actual snails (who thankfully still look very weird) and not actual phones that look like snails. The best part for me is that I can't quite tell if they are practical or cgi effects.
Their practical, expect for the megaphone is CG I think.
22:17 Just know this Eric: Buggy is played by Deke from Agents of SHIELD.
I didn't know that wow
He literally said that that's the ONE THING that he knew. Watch the discussion.
Nami told the one marine he was too tall because she was looking for one that was close to her size so she could steal his uniform.
We want whole crew on this!
RICK!!!! So glad to see him in the reaction! It will be interesting to see the different perspectives from Aaron and Calvin watching the new OP anime, Rick seeing the live action and experienced much of the manga and original anime, and Eric only being caught up on the live action.
I wish I was living in the future so I could see y'all react to every ep lolol
glad I voted on the poll for this!!!!!!
They just made another poll to replace this show because it is too short
Oh man, I can't wait for you guys to see the next episode. 😂
One Piece, LET'S GO! Blind Wave finally joins the fleet of Straw Hat Pirates fans!
I can't wait for the 2nd season of the One Piece Live Action and The One Piece Anime Remake!
FINALLY!!! Been waiting for you guys to finally get to One Piece
AH!
I just wanna fangirl about every scene
IT'S SO GOOD
Why would you fangirl, each scene is inferior to the original, so if you were that obsessed wouldn't you be more so frustrated at every scene, I know I was.
@@-tom-8720 proud of you, folk will see your comment and go "people like *this guy* think the Live Action is worse than the Anime...", and that'll probably give them a better opinion of the Live Action.
I'm so glad I get to relive this live action series again with you guys! It's really good and I hope y'all like it
3:37 Funny considering the narrator played Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean 4.
The father of the actor playing Zoro is a famous martial artist.
Yes! Eric x Rick makes this super exciting.
Need the other two tho!!!!!
I am so so happy to see this reaction love getting Rick's opinion!
I’m glad you decided to do this and meet me in the middle, all of you should be here but I understand why you’d split it for content reasons and I’ll take what I can get!!
oh no rick being up to water 7 is such a bad place to be for that one spoiler in the live action, hes SO close to seeing the reveal in the anime xD
IVE BEEN BAMBOOZLED BY YALL BEFORE, is this for real!?? 🤣🤣🤣
I'd never seen One Piece before. I had no trouble getting into this.
finally!!! i've been waiting for you to react to One Piece LIVE ACTION. i loved it so much. looking forward for the rest of the episodes.
its nice to see rick slowly coming back, he has been missed.
One Piece Brotherhood is gonna be dope. Very optimistic for that one (I kind of hope the keep the OST though)
The entire crew should definitely be there for the remake! That would be such a missed opportunity if they aren't...
Holy shiiiiiii this is such a surprise!!!
Love this live action adaptation! Don’t know anything about the anime, but after watching this I knew why a lot of people love One Piece.
The way this story makes you go from crying to laughing in the flip of a page is truly second to none. As a man in his 20s this show taught me how to feel emotion like a kid again and I will forever be grateful for that.
Wow you guys FINALLY watch One Piece live action. About freaking time. Just wish there was more of you guys reacting.
21:19 Rick's "Good!" and Eric's concerned face just sent me XDDD
Welcome back Rick! 💜
I am new to one piece, and the only thing I know about one piece was some characters because of my sister. I really enjoy the live action( I did not watch the anime). I'm interested in finding out what happens next.
Who knows, based off the 1st season looks like they are going to cut/change anything and everything. So even us hardcores couldn't even guess.
I remember liking your OPLA trailer reaction..glad you are doing this now...I have actually exhausted my OPLA reaction watchalongs..33 times since release..
The best live action anime adaption ever!
I'm so glad you two are watching this! The combination of OP veteran Rick and new watcher Eric will be so interesting to see! This is going to be a great coming weeks!
How is rick a Veteran lol, he's barely seen a third of the series lol
I think you should all watch the remake tbh it would be very interesting.
Wow I was not expecting this. What a great way to finish my weekends!
i’ve been waiting for this one😭
The once a year One Piece thing is such a good bit.
I enjoyed this live action so much it ignited a fire in me to restart watching the One Piece anime from the beginning even though me and my wife were already in the 800's. She said I was crazy.
