You can 100% change the dose on this machine! You use the provided allen wrench to loosen the tamping fan assembly which is very easy to do. Unscrew until you have 4 threads showing, and reassemble. My dose is now about 18 grams. Also, you can steam milk manually. Lift up the steam arm, and hold down the milk button for a few seconds; this will turn on the manual steam option.
You can also fine tune the grind in 1/10 step increments by removing the bean basket, remove the top burr, take off the retaining wire, turn the adjustment ring, then re assemble in reverse order.
do you have a video of how to steam milk manually? mine wont work ugh
Is there a way of manual tamping? (Say if I really want to practice tamping)
You should make a video how this is done 👍🏼
Thank you, didn't know I can steam milk maually til I saw your message!
your videos are always helpful mate. keep up the good work.
Awesome Review Chris. Always looking forward to your coffee vlogs.
Thanks Chris, great review! FYI - You can adjust the dosage to as low as 19g from the default 22 by disconnecting the fan and adjusting the connector with the provided allen key. I set mine to 20g. I've had the machine for a solid year now and absolutely love it!
This machine has a great warranty. You can also adjust the dosing by adjusting the tamping fan down. I purchased mine four years ago, had it repaired once under warranty. Failed after four years and Breville offered to repair for $550 or give me a 25% discount. I sent in for repair, it was unrepairable. Breville said they would send a refurbished unit if it was unrepairable. No refurbished units in stock, so they sent a new unit. We run 8 pounds of locally roasted beans a month through it. Great purchase.
You opened my eyes to how to maximize a deLongi grinder I was given for the holidays. Thanks for mentioning to always keep the hopper full!
excellent excellent review. thanks for taking the time Chris.
Sold! Thanks Chris, have debating for a bit now. I think this will fit us perfectly.
Great review mate, I’ve had the original oracle for a year now and could not be happier. Your dead right about the sort of person this machine suits.
Great review. Would be great to see you do more of them in the future. Even for commercial equipment.
Just bought this machine and still waiting for it to arrive. Ohhhhhh, I can't wait! Thanks for the info!
Did you like it🤨
Great review and great tone to it too!
Glad I found this channel and feeling good about my Breville purchase now too.
Me too glad i bought it now
@@stacyhollister7291I’m still enjoying mine after all theses years! Congrats!!
Is there a way to just use up my ground coffee in this grind unit???
Ive been waiting for this :)
You can manually steam in this machine too. I imagine it would be the same quality as the BDB.
Awesome review man thanks!
Great video, thanks for posting
I have the original oracle and this is by far the most honest and best review on RUclips. Keep up the great work!
it's an ok review, but he is incorrect about not being able to adjust the dose. above tamp fan is an adjustment sleeve that changes amount of grounds in basket
Terrific review, thanks.
RealChrisBaca
would you mind sharing a setting for froth and temperature of the milk to do latte art on oracle touch? thx
Stellar review! I have the older model and want this now.
Thanks!
You convinced me, I just ordered it!
Nice review thanks. Went for the non touch oracle myself as didn’t think the interface was worth the extra. In the UK Sage (Breville Europe) offer what they call a white glove service where they send a coffee pro to help you set it up and dial it in which is pretty cool.
that’s really good service!!
That's a really fair review. Thanks!
Loved the review - thanks a lot :)
I have owned the older Breville Dual boiler for over 2 years and love it! I personally love the ability to dial in shots and foaming my own milk. For around $1200 + the Eureka Mignon stepless grinder ($499) you can pull some amazing shots. It is hard to go out for coffee now!
Can you make a video on cleaning and descaling for this machine?
Good review. Thank you
Chris - a few questions. Which grind/brew settings would you recommend for lattes and flat whites? Also which coffee beans would you recommend for this?
Just unboxed the machine and am on my way for water and coffee beans. Thank you for explainations! I am looking forward to a great latte here. Water here is hard. So this is my big adjustment in buying water.
What a super chill, nice guy.
Hi, great video! Thank you for taking the time to make it. Please would you be able to let me know the measurement between your top cabinets and worktop? I don't think the Oracle will fit under my cabinets but it does under yours... thank you
Excellent review
Well presented. Thanks.
Review of the Breville Barista Express (most popular model on Amazon)? or the Breville Dual Boiler with a separate grinder?
so what would you recommend for equipment if I wanted to geek out at home under 5k
This is awesome. Thanks for the review. Would you recommend going with the Barista Express machine for better espresso and lattes or this one ? I don’t mind the dual boiler or the price.
I just bought this and I notice that when making an espresso shot water comes running out of the hot water spout. Is this normal?
Excellent review ! Need to get some "The Answer" beans...love to watch Chris go 100 miles an hour.
Pulled the trigger two days ago on the Oracle Touch. Think it will suit my need perfectly. Was sold by the "no hazzel & no mess" factors.
Engan hi can you tell me how you got on with the touch ? Thinking about buying one
Me too
@@stacyhollister7291 I use it everyday and has not have and trouble what so ever with it. It does all the bells and whizzes advertised to do, so can’t be more pleased. It’s clean, easy to use and most importantly, does GREAT tasting coffee. I know it’s an expensive machine, but in the end I think it was worth it. To start the day with a cafe-quality coffee is just Priceless. I have no issues spending some extra bucks on a nice coffee-machine since I do not drink much else like alcohol and stuff. I’m worth a nice coffee every morning, and so are you guys!
@@JohnG-gu5wo see reply below.
great review thanks !
What is the maximum cup height this can accommodate?
What type of fresh beans do you use that it recommends?
Great Review! Thanks :)
Great video!
Great review
Great video Chris, thanks for the detailed information 👍🏻 my question is , can it be used in a startup coffee shop?
Lama no. Buy linea mini instead.
Great review. One important note is the dosage is based on the basket. For example the stock double causes the machine to grind and tamp about 22 grams whole the single has about 12. This is a cool feature so I assume you can buy smaller 58mm baskets to get a lesser amount. It must sense when the grinds get to a certain level then tamp. I am happy as I was at first disappointed the dose couldn’t be altered, but you just need a different basket.
During extraction can I use the grinder to fill a separate portafilter so I have one ready to go?
I'm torn between this and the miele 6350. Can anyone help me decide.
Great review, thank you. I wanna buy it to my boutique and coffee shop. I am not an expert and all this tumping and measuring shots makes me nervouse. I heard once, that the most important thing in any coffee shop is getting consistant shots and Brevil seems to do that well
Hey is there a level probe on the steam boiler? I've found on machines with the boiler too full the steam becomes wet. This might be why it isn't steaming to taste.
Your opinion of the profitec 700 or rocket R58 against much more expensive units like a la marzocco gs3 or even a nuova white eagle or their black eagle machines?
Hi Chris, you mentioned in your Linea Mini review that it is able to make cafe grade cup of coffee. How does this breville compare to that? I'm asking because I am using a breville dual boiler now and wonder if I should get the linea mini. I too am looking for the cafe grade of coffee.
What machine would you recommend for someone who wants to double the dose of grounds, but also has a clean built in grind/tamper? Steamer not required. Thanks!
Chris, what are some pitchers you would recommend? I still use the one that came with my Breville Dual Boiler, but would like to upgrade. Thank you.
What did you think of the tamping? Would there be any point/benefit to WDT and re tamping once ground?
Mind doing a review of the Barista Hustle milk pitcher?
Great vid. How often do u get a bad tamp. I get them all the time almost every first tamp. And pulling 20g shots. Frustrating.
Chris, do you happen to know how this built-in grinder compares to Breville’s home grinders?
can you help me figure out the grind setting? i seem to not be able to get it right after trying for 4 month i like dark roast Brazilian beans with slight oily sheen what should the correct grinder setting be? i tried going all the way down to 5 and it barely drips, at 15 it trickles but at 22-25 barely drips again what am i doing wrong? coffee used is 2-3 weeks after roast date
Will it grind and tamp if you pour in 20g of coffee beans? Or do you need to have minimum of 22g in the hopper to work?
Wow SOO LATE at night. Great video and keep up the good work.
“They even like tamping!” Lol
Where can i get that shirt??
Does this machine change the grinder setting for each saved drink in menus ?, because it sounds like you would use the same grind value for all drinks, I was wondering if you could make like a regular cup of coffee by running water thru puck for a longer extraction ?.
Why does my Breville Espresso Pro always show a pre infuse the shot before it makes the shot? My coffee is very wet when I put it out in the knock box?
Where is your shirt from??
Hey Chris, having trouble texturing the milk with the oracle touch. auto does not completely infuse the milk with air like i could do manually w/the dual boiler. so a few seconds (like 4) after pouring, it thins out and the "spoon test" shows a very thin layer of foam with a milky shot underneath. I play with the froth from 4 to 9, but same 4 second result. manual mode sucks as the wand has 4 holes and the angle is 45 degrees. I continually get large bubbles and not infusing the milk much differently then auto mode. am I missing something here? i know this is something you address in your review but you seen to get a better texture then i'm able to. thanks!
I love your shirt man
Nice. You should post the recipe for The Answer. I wonder if the setting for the Oracle internal grinder can somewhat be transfer to the Smart Grinder Pro. Appreciate the review but I am still waiting for the one on the Acaia Lunar ;)
3:52 Never heard that before but makes sense. I single dose and still on the hunt for a good grinder for espresso. This new info makes me wonder if the slow RPM of a hand grinder like the Orphan Espresso Pharos 2.0 would be better because the extremely slow spinning burrs would create less of a popcorn action vs the fast spinning speed of a Ceado E5P.
I have a theory that for any given grinder there's an optimum rpm for "pulling" beans into the burr set. I know in the old conical only espresso days the slower RPM's were certainly more predictable (probably a number of reasons for that...
you can change the dose. you have to adjust the portafilter
People complaining about your t shirt? Really? Where whatever you want! Anyway...That was such an awesome review! Literally everything I had questions on and you didn’t drag on. Clear and to the point and funny which was a bonus. Ok you won me with this one....Subscribed.
You can chose the dose quite easily, but its not mentioned in the manual, the given accessory helps and it only takes a minute!
Is there a manual mode for the milk frothing? I want to learn how to texture milk and perfect my technique for latte art.
Yes, you can froth manually by lifting the wand up and holding your finger on the froth button.
Thank you very much my brother for this Nice video 👏🏻
6:21
How this flter broken
Is it easy to break or strong?
Explain to me my brother
I like that coffee youtubers are very serious about exclosing their relation to a certain company when they review things. It makes me take them much more seriously!
Do you think the cheaper variant, the Barista Express, could be a nice machine to start with for a beginner?
I wonder if you're getting wetter steam which is altering the texture. You should weigh in your milk before and after to see how much water is being introduced to your milk compared to a gs3 or sumthin. Wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason for the difference with the milk
But forreal, where can I get that shirt?
Awesome review! Thanks so much baca!
Also dope ass shirt! Ahaha
Your video is so great
Nice job on the review...BUT! Initially you talked about trying out stuff like other portafilters and baskets, did you try that out? I hear people claiming you can pop in a smaller basket (something like an 18 or 20g) to get a lower dose.
I guess most people buy this machine to not bother with that kind of stuff, however I do think it’s always interesting to se what a machine can do. Tweaks ’n’ all.
Peace!
I'm new to Breville, was this review made before you could change the doze that goes into the filter, or did you just not know that your able to change it from 22g, to let's say 18g. Of-course then it's fixed at 18g for every shot.
La pavoni pc16 & nuova simonelli mdx is the way to go for me... oracle looks very interesting, completely different set up
I need one
rockin a miss silvia v3 from rancilio paired with a fiorenzato f4 with home roast beans. #whirlypop probe and ht gear motor adjustable rpms. i love bean a coffee nerd!! keep up the great coffee knowledge!!
I tried for at least a year to make a design with my Oracle (non-touch screen) :(
I had that plastic part crack on my Breville Oracle (non-touch version) apparently this is a common problem seems like a design flaw - part is not strong enough. Compared to my ECM syncronika and Ceado E37s I can get a better tasting coffee on the manual set up - not all the time though and the Breville is more consistent. The Breville is easier and cleaner also easy to get the different coffees - for instance an Americano etc. As Chris says though -I enjoy toying with my settings etc. so now my son has the Breville and I use the manual set up and occasionally have awesome espresso, and sometimes pour it down the sink.
Love the review! I own one, am not a barista, and what you said confirmed a lot of my experience. Very helpful!
On milk frothing, did you ever try manual mode frothing? Lift the wand, hold down the milk froth button, and then manual froth like you might in a cafe. Might help with the quality issue you spoke of?
Fire Craft Food
this machine does not have manual milk frothing.
yes it does
Thank you for mentioning this! So you can manually froth on the Breville Oracle Touch?! What do you think & like this option in your experience? Do you use the manual option often?
Bought a Breville dual boiler & grinder pro in singapore last month. So far so good. Need to work out the grind size n after practising on 400g of coffee beans…we finally get the pressure to be at 9…which is the recommended pressure…my gal like the machine.
I notice you have the Oracle Touch underneath a cabinet. How much vertical space do you have on your countertop beneath your cabinets?
Only arounf 2 cm before the grinder part touches the top of the cabinet
Hi i just bought this machine a month ago and i really enjoy its espresso, but i noticed the steamed milk is not good as it suppose to ( it's kinda separated ). My creatista plus steam wand makes silky smooth frothed milk better than this Oracle touch . I did notice there are only two holes out of four despising steam and when i reported this to the Breville Technical support here in Malaysia they said this is normal. But Technical Service in Australia they confirm that the 4 holes should release steam. Does your Machine release steam from the 4 holes or just two like mine? if applicable can do video on this ?
Hey just read you post and i was wondering as a owner of the creatista plus nespresso machine my self is it worth going for this oracle touch, i agree with you the creatista plus make great milk froth automaticly.
Please give me any thoughts since the nespresso creatista plus is a good easy machine, i just feel that want maybee some more choice in my coffea blends. And that is why im thinking of a other machine.
Love your review. I might only be able to swing the barista touch because of budget. Perfect for me. I have seen machines 25,000 and up lol can not afford that.
It's pretty interesting, though you're right. I think the fixed dose would be a deal breaker for me. I've got a Linea Mini (and Robur) at home and I've really enjoyed the experimentation. The LM Home coffee subscription is fun because they've been pretty good about choosing a wide variety of roasts and ratios. I'm also a big single origin fan, so there's that. :)
What's the warm up time? The ~10 minutes on the Mini were one of the big factors over some of the other dual boilers and HXers that took 30 minutes.
Warm up is around 15min so it's pretty quick. Being able to set the timer and have the machine kick on by itself is a key feature. Robur at home! That thing is dominating your counter and I applaud you!
Cat and Cloud Answer is really good...i live near this shop and i love it...
Hey Chris, what settings were you using on the milk for latte art, temp and froth?
I’d like to see Chris do Breville barista touch
Were do yoy got the blue cup?
Cat and Cloud! Sean White cups.
