This album concept is honestly so fucking genius. Play a character so you can make completely different music without being crucified for it and then killing off the character so you can go to a different sound on the next album without appearing inconsistent. Love.

it actually gets a bit shoddy (imho) at some point. they spend too much time on radioactive and fear and loathing and power and control that they barely have time for anything else. i mean.. maybe it's intentional but the ending looks rushed. i DO know that like the last seconds or do is meant to be rushed but still
I think that is because part 8-10 of Electra Heart doesn't have much action, so they just rushed it so it wouldn't be boring. However, I do think they could have spent less time on Radioactive and more on HTBAH

also if you pay attention the heart on her cheek gets smaller as the story goes on. On the first mv, you can clearly see it's a heart, but in lies and in this video it's so small, looks more like a dot. that's 'cause electra is dying and fading away

+Stephen Trash, it kind of is the death of Electra Heart. The organ music in the interlude suggests a death. Usually, those are only played at churches for weddings or funerals, and since there sure as hell is no groom... Furthermore, when Marina released this video, she had tweeted earlier that day, "Goodbye Electra Heart", thus suggesting that Electra Heart is over. The sequence of the previous videos also suggests this, as it is a memory sequence- this is especially big in the fact that it references the saying "your life flashes before your eyes". That saying means that you're effectively dying, because the brain replays all the memories in the 7 minutes before absolute physical death. Finally, she released a poster online that said explicitly "The Death of Electra Heart: Coming August 8, 2013", as well as talk she made during FROOT era of her "killing off" Electra Heart via sleeping pills. It really IS the death of Electra Heart.
I know but it's.... sad :( I loved Electra heart. and I like to think it's an only metaphorical suicide, like Electra finally went away to let Marina back in, and she comes back during performances. Marina even has the heart on her cheek when she performs during the Electra heart parts of her recent concerts

My theory of electra heart. It's long but well thought out. This is just the story I've come up with. I could be way off. Part 1 (Fear and Loathing): Electra wants to change herself after most breakups. She's tired of always being scared and sad all the time. Part 2 (Radioactive): Electra changes everything from her style to the way she acts toward the breakup. Instead of loathing, she trashes her ex boyfriends house and competley leaves everything behind and leaves town. Part 3 (The Archetypes): She changes her identity and becomes the girlfriend of a rich man. If you listen to the background, the robotic voice focuses on identiy and becoming your "real self". It also says "housewife" and Electra is dressed in really rich clothing. Part 4 (Primadonna): The rich man she's seeing becomes obsessed with her and eventually proposes to marry her. When they get married her husband spoils her with gifts. Electra continues the act of a self obsessed "primadonna girl". In the song she also talks about being difficult. Part 5 (Su-barbie-a): Electra, being the difficult girl she says she is, starts arguing with the man a lot. In the video, you can hear arguing between a man and a woman in the background. Also, if you listen closely to the voice it talks a lot about barbies. Barbies are usually controlled by other people. I think the voice is the man convincing her which dresses to wear and how to look, etc. The man was controlling Electra. Part 6 (Power & Control): She's tired of being controlled by the man. In the video it's a constant battle between the man and electra heart. She says at the end of the video, "All my life i've been controlled. You can't have peace without a war." I think this was a warning that she was leaving him and she's gonna make his life terrible. Part 7 (HTBAH): After the two argue on and off, Electra wants to make the man feel terrible like he's done to her. She has many affairs with different guys. The video explains how to be a heartbreaker. I don't think she meant to the guys she just met, but to the man that has been controlling her for a long time. She also changes her hair back to black and dresses like she used to. Part 8 (E.V.O.L): After a long time of going back and fourth constantly hurting each other, their love gets "fucked up" by the "drop of evil". The man went behind her back and also did the same thing with a different girl that he ends up marrying. The both of them together and their mistakes ruined the relationship they had together. Part 9 (State Of Dreaming): Electra realizes that her whole life has been a lie. She was only pretending to be someone she's not. She's in a state of dreaming that doesn't end. She goes back to acting like how she orginially did before all of the blonde hair and "primadonna" attitude. Part 10 (Lies): The man and Electra still secretly see each other behind his wife's back. Electra can't do anything about it because she is still in love with the man. When she started acting like her usual self, he left her for another woman. She used to put up an act and she offers to put the act on again. "I'm not the type that you like. Why don't we just pretend?" In the video it also says "You only ever touch me in the dark..." "And only in the evening could you give yourself to me, cause the night is your woman and she'll set you free". This explains that Electra and the man still have an affair "in the dark" behind her back. He goes home to woman at night "cause the night is your woman". She wan'ts it to be perfect. She say's she wants to believe it's all been worth the fight, but she won't ever get him back again. Part 11 (Electra Heart): She's Electra Heart, "only living in the dark". She's tired of being the other woman because that's all she will ever be. She also says in the video "Can we go back, go back to the start?" asking if they could be how they used to be, together. She talks about her other options too "You could always pray that the sickness, it could go away". This means she could always hope that she'd get over him and stopped being depressed about him all the time. Another option she brings up is "Would you give your, would you give your life?". At the end of the video when she whipes the heart off of her cheek it obviously symbolizes that she killed herself.

I'm officially old, I want to go back to the early 2010s with music. Stuff like Lana and Marina and Chelsea were so important with their albums then that I just was content to have a relationship with their music. It was just this whole epic...thing. I don't know if anyone or anything will strike me the same way ever again in popular music. Lana was the first person since Tori Amos who I felt that way about. That's almost two decades of having lukewarm feelings about new music.

Four years later, I rewatch this and finally get that this video isn't just a compilation of all her Electra Heart videos, the video is supposed to be symbolic of Electra's life flashing before her eyes (as it supposedly does before you die). Well played, Marina.

As the newspaper article, shared by Marina, said also in Teen Idle she expresses her suicidal tendencies, in Valley of the Dolls (as we know from the book, sleeping pills/basically drugs were regarded as DOLLS) she expresses her feelings of emptiness and identity crisis, saying she’s already mentally dying like a shooting star and alludes suicide using dolls, then we have Fear and Loathing that ends the album (I’m not counting deluxe tracks) and the last lyrics she sings about death, like, you can’t interpret it any other way. Then we hear birds and her granny’s voice singing in Greek somewhere where Electra got after her death. She’s reflecting on her life in the entire song, recognizing how destructive life she’s had and she’s tired of it. Putting it as part 1, Marina already told us the faith of Electra, which is brilliant. Let’s not forget Living Dead (I’m from Europe and had it on my cd (also the demo is so much better, I was disappointed with overproduction, I just like her harmonies in the background, nice touch demo lacks) in the song she literally says what her life’s like and how she actually feels. There’s no room for interpretation, song’s literal. It’s a very important one, so I don’t understand why the US had it scrapped.

I know this album is now old and over, but I still wanna talk about it! I do not think Fear & Loathing is meant to be a second or alternate ending at all (but it is up to how the person wants to interpret it, I just want to share my thoughts!). In Fear & Loathing, we see her putting on make up, while the rest of her looks a mess. She wants to stop living in bitterness. She's lived many different lives, trying to be different people - but I do not think she wants to stop. She does not want to be herself, or she'd live in fear & loathing. We see her cut her hair, which takes us to Radioactive. Radioactive, we can see she's attempting to bleach or dye her hair blonde, and it is still short from when she cut it. She wants to be a "bottle blonde," now. We see her put on the blonde wig, because that's who she wants to be & she hasn't gotten her hair to that state just yet. She's trying to pretend that whatever heartache she just went through won't phase her too much, because SHE wants to be the heart breaker now. She's radioactive. Archetypes: In Archetypes, she still is not Electra Heart yet. She's thinking of different archetypes that she could be. Housewife, beauty queen, home wrecker or an idle "Idol" teen. At the end when it says, "Electra Heart... are you for real?" I think it's supposed to signify that Electra Heart can be anyone she wants. She can be anyone she wants. Primadonna: She's now Electra Heart, as we can see this is the first video with the heart on her cheek. Her first archetype. Su-barbie-a: Kinda of a creepy video, as she does not show her face the entire time. I think this is supposed to mean she is faceless, because she can be whoever she wants. She's playing around with the idea of a housewife. I think it is also reminiscent of America's 50s era. Women were expected to be beautiful and domestic. Power & Control: This is when she realizes she can use power to be in charge of a relationship. She says in the song she's been controlled her whole life, and I think she means in relationships. She's done with that. How to be a Heartbreaker: She's lost the blonde, and is probably a little more cynical about love than before in Radioactive. She's created a list of rules on how to be a heartbreaker. She wants to be in control of guys. She does not want to be played ever again, so she's the player this time. E.V.O.L: She's definitely very cynical about love now. She's realized how evil love really is. How it can change people, or "fuck up two beautiful people." I'd also like to point out the lyrics, "how I'd love to be your suicide blonde." while she has black hair again. I wish I knew the symbolism here. It shows us images of her as the homewrecker, housewife, and a beauty queen. I think this means she's starting to reflect on her archetypes. The State of Dreaming: This is a turning point for Electra Heart, I think. She admits she's been living lies, in a state of dreaming. I think this song is pretty reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. Everyone quotes Marilyn Monroe, but her death was not as glamorous as her life and sayings. Electra Heart knows she's dreaming, but she's too scared to come back to reality. "If only you knew my dear, how I live my life in fear. If only you knew my dear, how I know my time is near." She knows her death is coming. She almost does not want to wake up from her state of dreaming. She just wanted a wonderful life. Lies: She's becoming back to herself again. The heart is small, because Electra Heart is fading. She knows her archetypes and life cannot change how she feels. She feels heartbroken. A relationship devastated her, and she's ruined. She's not wearing as much make up as Electra Heart would. We can see it's about evening in the video, and it goes into night time as she moves into the forest. I think the banquet is supposed to be a symbol of how she never married, even though she really wanted to. I think that's what it means anyway. She knows her time has come, and she's leaving the house for the forest. There's a cool scene in the forest where she walks behind a tree, but she never crosses the other side, and I think that is the moment she dies. Electra Heart: This song is supposed to be a long suicide note. "I'm Electra Heart, only living in the dark." The lights of revelation are blinding her, because she's been in the dark for so long. "Can we go back, go back to the start. Where the Holy Father made his mark." She wants to go back to Fear & Loathing, right before her fate was set into motion. She wishes she was never Electra Heart. I wish I knew how to interpret that smirk of hers in the forest! "For forgiveness, you could always pray. That the sickness, it could go away." I think the sickness is supposed to mean how she lives her life in lies. That's my interpretation anyways... hope you like it.

I'm pretty sure she's just going over stereotypes many women get trapped in thanks to what the media says women should do, and when a girl is wounded she is easy to trick. She's definitely not encouraging what her character says is right to do. I'd take it as both an explanation for what's wrong with younger romantic lives as well as depicting some of the mindsets that practice it.
Okay, so my friend and I are hardcore Diamonds, and I came up with this theory from the videos and lyrics that he added on to and I'll try to explain it as best as I can! Part 1: Fear and Loathing is Electra getting rid of who she once was. Perhaps it was after a breakup or something? This is not the first time, either. (been many people different times). Part 2: Radioactive is Electra meeting a new man who she feels like she's on top of the world with. Together, they are toxic and destructive (when you're around me, I'm radioactive) but again, she feels amazing with him. Also, she tries blonde. Perhaps her boyfriend enjoys it. Part 3: The Archetypes. Electra actually dyes her hair blonde and actually becomes Electra Heart, and is showing the world who she has become. Also, she is revealing that she and the man are now married (housewife). Part 4: Primadonna. Electra is sure of who she is now, and she gets into a whole "I don't need anyone but myself" place. She feels like the queen of the world. Part 5: SU-BARBIE-A, Electra's husband doesn't appreciate her telling him he's unneeded, and so they begin to argue constantly, as evidenced by the arguing in the background. Part 6: Power and Control. Electra's marriage is beginning to fall apart, and they both begin cheating on each other. It becomes a literal power play for both of them. Part 7: How To Be a Heartbreaker, Electra is now divorced from her husband and is now fooling around with several new men. Also, she removed the blonde from her hair, going back to her natural dark hair. Part 8: E.V.O.L, Electra begins to realise that she is a little heartbroken and "fucked up" after divorcing her husband. The fun with new boys has run dry. Part 9: State of Dreaming, Electra realises that she ruined her own life by being narcissistic and unappreciative. She realises that she's been "living in a make-believe land" where she didn't need anyone but herself. Part 10: Lies. Electra gets her husband back. Sort of. He doesn't love her anymore, and she's completely heartbroken. Their relationship now is purely sexual, and she knows it will never be mended. Part 11: Electra Heart. Electra's life has fizzed out, and after ruining her marriage and losing her husband and all the happiness she ever had, Electra kills herself. Also: There are so many marriage metaphors everywhere! And perhaps her husband had a girlfriend or wife when he and Electra first met in Radioactive, and thats where "Homewrecker" comes in. Thanks for reading this mess haha, hope it made sense! xx
this era was iconic and genius! it paved the way for so many artists debuting in around 2015-2018. marina also ruled tumblr, which is funny because tumblr was actually part of her inspiration! electra heart will always hold a special place in my heart!

Maybe Radioactive and Fear and Loathing were what she was like BEFORE she turned herself into Electra and changed her views and opinions. When she became a Primadonna girl, she lost all of her previous traits, and ultimately became Electra Heart. But idk
i think fear and loathing was her transition from marina into electra and she adopted the heart sign after as her new symbol, so that she could be a new person and that represented her new love. ( she stated she was more bitter at the time of TFJ and was a lot more loving after she made EH so maybe thats a symbolization of her love growing but slowly dying as she progressed through and realized it was all fake and she was living a lie, stated in the song "state of dreaming")
When this album was released, I was only 10 years old and I only listened to Primadonna: the popular song I've been listening to Marina full-time for 2 years now and I'm kinda sad that this masterpiece wasn't introduced to me earlier.
The first line in State of Dreaming is referencing that stupid Marilyn Monroe quote that so many people like. It makes sense that Electra Heart makes you think of her... they both had problems that killed them.

The Platinum Blonde release is testament of the tenacity of Electra Heart's haunting. This track in particular best portrays her true nature: lamenting about her pain and regrets, yet beckoning you to play the album from the beginning again, so she can come back to life, so she can do it all over again, in an impossible quest to satiate her neverending greed...
I wouldn't say that. There are tons of footage from the music videos of the beggining of this era but only a few seconds of the last music videos. They could've edited it better so they put equal amounts of footage from every music video.

I love the evolution of Marina to Electra to Marina again. And I love how Froot starts with Happy. I feel like it explains a little what went on with her self and where she's finding herself now. I can't express enough how much I love the depth and meaning of Marinas music. I could go on for hours, in fact I usually do.
Marina didn't want to be in fear and loathing about identities but Electra Heart was so radioactive she wanted to explore women archetypes because she thought, through others we become ourselves. Electra Heart was a Primadonna and wanted everything to fill the void of loneliness so she lives in Su- Barbie-ia where it was all about beauty. She then gained power and control by becoming a heartbreaker because she thought if she broke everyone else's heart she wouldn't be the one that got hurt. However she knew love is evil but she was living in a state of dreaming. Electra Heart then realised she was falling deeper in the void because of all the lies she was telling herself. She couldn't find away out of the void she created so Electra killed herself. She watched her life flash before her eyes then her heart disappeared and that was the end of Electra Heart. Welcome to the life of Electra Heart.

i think i found out the story behind electra heart?? idk heres the parts of the story and the song corresponding to it: Part 2: Radioactive - Marina wants an alter ego to play around with love. In Radioactive, she is figuring out what her alternate personality should be. Part 5: Su-Barbie-A - She finally comes to the decision of Electra Heart. This image is based of a Barbie Doll. Part 4: Primadonna & Part 6: Power and Control - Marina gains control over her lovers and they pamper her with care, money and love. Part 7: How to be a Heartbreaker - Marina is in the swing of things and is skipping from one relationship to another. Part 8: E.V.O.L - She unexpectedly gets pregnant and has no clue as to who the father is. She regrets ever wanting to play with love. Part 9: State of Dreaming - She tries to forget the situation by drinking and partying her pain away. Part 3: The Archetypes - She knows the direction that her life is going to end up in: Idle Teen to a Home-wrecker, to a Beauty Queen, and finally a Housewife, and deeply regrets her choice of becoming Electra Heart. My theory of electra heart. It's long but well thought out. This is just the story I've come up with. I could be way off.
Part 1 (Fear and Loathing): Electra wants to change herself after most breakups. She's tired of always being scared and sad all the time.
Part 2 (Radioactive): Electra changes everything from her style to the way she acts toward the breakup. Instead of loathing, she trashes her ex boyfriends house and competley leaves everything behind and leaves town.
Part 3 (The Archetypes): She changes her identity and becomes the girlfriend of a rich man. If you listen to the background, the robotic voice focuses on identiy and becoming your "real self". It also says "housewife" and Electra is dressed in really rich clothing.
Part 4 (Primadonna): The rich man she's seeing becomes obsessed with her and eventually proposes to marry her. When they get married her husband spoils her with gifts. Electra continues the act of a self obsessed "primadonna girl". In the song she also talks about being difficult.
Part 5 (Su-barbie-a): Electra, being the difficult girl she says she is, starts arguing with the man a lot. In the video, you can hear arguing between a man and a woman in the background. Also, if you listen closely to the voice it talks a lot about barbies. Barbies are usually controlled by other people. I think the voice is the man convincing her which dresses to wear and how to look, etc. The man was controlling Electra.
Part 6 (Power & Control): She's tired of being controlled by the man. In the video it's a constant battle between the man and electra heart. She says at the end of the video, "All my life i've been controlled. You can't have peace without a war." I think this was a warning that she was leaving him and she's gonna make his life terrible.
Part 7 (HTBAH): After the two argue on and off, Electra wants to make the man feel terrible like he's done to her. She has many affairs with different guys. The video explains how to be a heartbreaker. I don't think she meant to the guys she just met, but to the man that has been controlling her for a long time. She also changes her hair back to black and dresses like she used to.
Part 8 (E.V.O.L): After a long time of going back and fourth constantly hurting each other, their love gets "fucked up" by the "drop of evil". The man went behind her back and also did the same thing with a different girl that he ends up marrying. The both of them together and their mistakes ruined the relationship they had together.
Part 9 (State Of Dreaming): Electra realizes that her whole life has been a lie. She was only pretending to be someone she's not. She's in a state of dreaming that doesn't end. She goes back to acting like how she orginially did before all of the blonde hair and "primadonna" attitude.
Part 10 (Lies): The man and Electra still secretly see each other behind his wife's back. Electra can't do anything about it because she is still in love with the man. When she started acting like her usual self, he left her for another woman. She used to put up an act and she offers to put the act on again. "I'm not the type that you like. Why don't we just pretend?" In the video it also says "You only ever touch me in the dark..." "And only in the evening could you give yourself to me, cause the night is your woman and she'll set you free". This explains that Electra and the man still have an affair "in the dark" behind her back. He goes home to woman at night "cause the night is your woman". She wan'ts it to be perfect. She say's she wants to believe it's all been worth the fight, but she won't ever get him back again.
Part 11 (Electra Heart): She's Electra Heart, "only living in the dark". She's tired of being the other woman because that's all she will ever be. She also says in the video "Can we go back, go back to the start?" asking if they could be how they used to be, together. She talks about her other options too "You could always pray that the sickness, it could go away". This means she could always hope that she'd get over him and stopped being depressed about him all the time. Another option she brings up is "Would you give your, would you give your life?". At the end of the video when she whipes the heart off of her cheek it obviously symbolizes that she killed herself.

As the newspaper article, shared by Marina, said also in Teen Idle she expresses her suicidal tendencies, in Valley of the Dolls (as we know from the book, sleeping pills/basically drugs were regarded as DOLLS) she expresses her feelings of emptiness and identity crisis, saying she’s already mentally dying like a shooting star and alludes suicide using dolls, then we have Fear and Loathing that ends the album (I’m not counting deluxe tracks) and the last lyrics she sings about death, like, you can’t interpret it any other way. Then we hear birds and her granny’s voice singing in Greek somewhere where Electra got after her death. She’s reflecting on her life in the entire song, recognizing how destructive life she’s had and she’s tired of it. Putting it as part 1, Marina already told us the faith of Electra, which is brilliant.
Let’s not forget Living Dead (I’m from Europe and had it on my cd (also the demo is so much better, I was disappointed with overproduction, I just like her harmonies in the background, nice touch demo lacks) in the song she literally says what her life’s like and how she actually feels. There’s no room for interpretation, song’s literal. It’s a very important one, so I don’t understand why the US had it scrapped.

I know this album is now old and over, but I still wanna talk about it! I do not think Fear & Loathing is meant to be a second or alternate ending at all (but it is up to how the person wants to interpret it, I just want to share my thoughts!). In Fear & Loathing, we see her putting on make up, while the rest of her looks a mess. She wants to stop living in bitterness. She's lived many different lives, trying to be different people - but I do not think she wants to stop. She does not want to be herself, or she'd live in fear & loathing. We see her cut her hair, which takes us to Radioactive. Radioactive, we can see she's attempting to bleach or dye her hair blonde, and it is still short from when she cut it. She wants to be a "bottle blonde," now. We see her put on the blonde wig, because that's who she wants to be & she hasn't gotten her hair to that state just yet. She's trying to pretend that whatever heartache she just went through won't phase her too much, because SHE wants to be the heart breaker now. She's radioactive.
Archetypes: In Archetypes, she still is not Electra Heart yet. She's thinking of different archetypes that she could be. Housewife, beauty queen, home wrecker or an idle "Idol" teen. At the end when it says, "Electra Heart... are you for real?" I think it's supposed to signify that Electra Heart can be anyone she wants. She can be anyone she wants.
Primadonna: She's now Electra Heart, as we can see this is the first video with the heart on her cheek. Her first archetype.
Su-barbie-a: Kinda of a creepy video, as she does not show her face the entire time. I think this is supposed to mean she is faceless, because she can be whoever she wants. She's playing around with the idea of a housewife. I think it is also reminiscent of America's 50s era. Women were expected to be beautiful and domestic.
Power & Control: This is when she realizes she can use power to be in charge of a relationship. She says in the song she's been controlled her whole life, and I think she means in relationships. She's done with that.
How to be a Heartbreaker: She's lost the blonde, and is probably a little more cynical about love than before in Radioactive. She's created a list of rules on how to be a heartbreaker. She wants to be in control of guys. She does not want to be played ever again, so she's the player this time.
E.V.O.L: She's definitely very cynical about love now. She's realized how evil love really is. How it can change people, or "fuck up two beautiful people." I'd also like to point out the lyrics, "how I'd love to be your suicide blonde." while she has black hair again. I wish I knew the symbolism here. It shows us images of her as the homewrecker, housewife, and a beauty queen. I think this means she's starting to reflect on her archetypes.
The State of Dreaming: This is a turning point for Electra Heart, I think. She admits she's been living lies, in a state of dreaming. I think this song is pretty reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe. Everyone quotes Marilyn Monroe, but her death was not as glamorous as her life and sayings. Electra Heart knows she's dreaming, but she's too scared to come back to reality. "If only you knew my dear, how I live my life in fear. If only you knew my dear, how I know my time is near." She knows her death is coming. She almost does not want to wake up from her state of dreaming. She just wanted a wonderful life.
Lies: She's becoming back to herself again. The heart is small, because Electra Heart is fading. She knows her archetypes and life cannot change how she feels. She feels heartbroken. A relationship devastated her, and she's ruined. She's not wearing as much make up as Electra Heart would. We can see it's about evening in the video, and it goes into night time as she moves into the forest. I think the banquet is supposed to be a symbol of how she never married, even though she really wanted to. I think that's what it means anyway. She knows her time has come, and she's leaving the house for the forest. There's a cool scene in the forest where she walks behind a tree, but she never crosses the other side, and I think that is the moment she dies.
Electra Heart: This song is supposed to be a long suicide note. "I'm Electra Heart, only living in the dark." The lights of revelation are blinding her, because she's been in the dark for so long. "Can we go back, go back to the start. Where the Holy Father made his mark." She wants to go back to Fear & Loathing, right before her fate was set into motion. She wishes she was never Electra Heart. I wish I knew how to interpret that smirk of hers in the forest! "For forgiveness, you could always pray. That the sickness, it could go away." I think the sickness is supposed to mean how she lives her life in lies.

Okay, so my friend and I are hardcore Diamonds, and I came up with this theory from the videos and lyrics that he added on to and I'll try to explain it as best as I can!
Part 1: Fear and Loathing is Electra getting rid of who she once was. Perhaps it was after a breakup or something? This is not the first time, either. (been many people different times).
Part 2: Radioactive is Electra meeting a new man who she feels like she's on top of the world with. Together, they are toxic and destructive (when you're around me, I'm radioactive) but again, she feels amazing with him. Also, she tries blonde. Perhaps her boyfriend enjoys it.
Part 3: The Archetypes. Electra actually dyes her hair blonde and actually becomes Electra Heart, and is showing the world who she has become. Also, she is revealing that she and the man are now married (housewife).
Part 4: Primadonna. Electra is sure of who she is now, and she gets into a whole "I don't need anyone but myself" place. She feels like the queen of the world.
Part 5: SU-BARBIE-A, Electra's husband doesn't appreciate her telling him he's unneeded, and so they begin to argue constantly, as evidenced by the arguing in the background.
Part 6: Power and Control. Electra's marriage is beginning to fall apart, and they both begin cheating on each other. It becomes a literal power play for both of them.
Part 7: How To Be a Heartbreaker, Electra is now divorced from her husband and is now fooling around with several new men. Also, she removed the blonde from her hair, going back to her natural dark hair.
Part 8: E.V.O.L, Electra begins to realise that she is a little heartbroken and "fucked up" after divorcing her husband. The fun with new boys has run dry.
Part 9: State of Dreaming, Electra realises that she ruined her own life by being narcissistic and unappreciative. She realises that she's been "living in a make-believe land" where she didn't need anyone but herself.
Part 10: Lies. Electra gets her husband back. Sort of. He doesn't love her anymore, and she's completely heartbroken. Their relationship now is purely sexual, and she knows it will never be mended.
Part 11: Electra Heart. Electra's life has fizzed out, and after ruining her marriage and losing her husband and all the happiness she ever had, Electra kills herself.
Also: There are so many marriage metaphors everywhere! And perhaps her husband had a girlfriend or wife when he and Electra first met in Radioactive, and thats where "Homewrecker" comes in.

i think fear and loathing was her transition from marina into electra and she adopted the heart sign after as her new symbol, so that she could be a new person and that represented her new love. ( she stated she was more bitter at the time of TFJ and was a lot more loving after she made EH so maybe thats a symbolization of her love growing but slowly dying as she progressed through and realized it was all fake and she was living a lie, stated in the song "state of dreaming")

This is what i love about Marina her album wasn't just songs, they were songs that told the story of electra heart throughout her life.

I love how Marina sings, like she's cocky and sarcastic, kinda like she's laughing at some inside joke.

I wouldn't say that. There are tons of footage from the music videos of the beggining of this era but only a few seconds of the last music videos. They could've edited it better so they put equal amounts of footage from every music video.

I love the evolution of Marina to Electra to Marina again. And I love how Froot starts with Happy. I feel like it explains a little what went on with her self and where she's finding herself now. I can't express enough how much I love the depth and meaning of Marinas music. I could go on for hours, in fact I usually do.

Marina didn't want to be in fear and loathing about identities but Electra Heart was so radioactive she wanted to explore women archetypes because she thought, through others we become ourselves. Electra Heart was a Primadonna and wanted everything to fill the void of loneliness so she lives in Su- Barbie-ia where it was all about beauty. She then gained power and control by becoming a heartbreaker because she thought if she broke everyone else's heart she wouldn't be the one that got hurt. However she knew love is evil but she was living in a state of dreaming. Electra Heart then realised she was falling deeper in the void because of all the lies she was telling herself. She couldn't find away out of the void she created so Electra killed herself. She watched her life flash before her eyes then her heart disappeared and that was the end of Electra Heart.
Welcome to the life of Electra Heart.
Now she sleeps in the valley of the dolls.

i think i found out the story behind electra heart?? idk heres the parts of the story and the song corresponding to it:
Part 2: Radioactive - Marina wants an alter ego to play around with love. In Radioactive, she is figuring out what her alternate personality should be.
Part 5: Su-Barbie-A - She finally comes to the decision of Electra Heart. This image is based of a Barbie Doll.
Part 4: Primadonna & Part 6: Power and Control - Marina gains control over her lovers and they pamper her with care, money and love.
Part 7: How to be a Heartbreaker - Marina is in the swing of things and is skipping from one relationship to another.
Part 8: E.V.O.L - She unexpectedly gets pregnant and has no clue as to who the father is. She regrets ever wanting to play with love.
Part 9: State of Dreaming - She tries to forget the situation by drinking and partying her pain away.
Part 3: The Archetypes - She knows the direction that her life is going to end up in: Idle Teen to a Home-wrecker, to a Beauty Queen, and finally a Housewife, and deeply regrets her choice of becoming Electra Heart. Nonetheless, she tries to find the father of her baby and is determined to start a new life.
Part 10: Lies - When she finally finds the father, he refuses to help her raise the baby. Shortly after, Marina suffers a miscarriage.
Part 11: Electra Heart/ Part 1: Fear and Loathing - There are two endings to Electra Heart's story:
- Fear and Loathing - Marina changes her ways and carries on with a new life.
- Electra Heart - She commits suicide.

It is so incredible to look back, directly into her eyes now, from the 20's perspective. The blooming explosion of maturity and perfection was foretold. A self-fulfilling prophecy, since the beginning, for sure. It was MARINA all along!
