I listen to his songs and they inspire me to work harder towards what I want in life , I changed from looking up to other people to hand me my success, I decided to leave my "Ejipita" ndega and look for other available opportunities to make it in Zimbabwe. Many people here are failing to understand that the fluency we are commending here is not of the queen's language because even some native speakers cannot present themselves the way he did so it is the fluency in ideas, composure, ability to answer questions appropriately, ability to clarify misconceptions around some songs assumed to be political though we know they are but for the sake of peace with the junta you need to have a sobber defence😂 which he did very well. Winky D is right. he does not need validation from artists from outside Zimbabwe to gain recognition. He is a giant in his won right; and it is incumbent upon us as Zimbabwean to put his music on the international map. Tuku did it on his won; and the international artists came to him for validation. You do you, Gaffer. We are with you.

Impressively sure footed and sufficient to the tug in the war for greatness. I hope he studies further and can be a good jab to our arts & culture. I will however, say I remain curious on his reference to annointing . It will be interesting to understand his faith cohesion with the conflict the rasta movement bares in our zmbabwean community. I got so fascinated by the way he was denying that he sings politics, opting rather for social commentary and reiterating that "people will look at things differently...its fair and fine its beyond my control." I feel that is a wise way of ensuring your safety as a musician in Zimbabwe, more so, there is a thin line between social and political life. I like how he almost always says we when responding to questions signaling how he views the Winky D brand to be not just him

There aren't many who undertastand Winky D, even among his music Fans. I think the only way to undersand him is when you listened to him talking of his amazement when he looks up to the night sky. Every intelligent person ( I mean those who are not stupid) wonders about the cosmos, about what lies above us which noone so far has given an explanation. If you are a grass hopper your world is only two dimensional, your worry is merely the availability of green grass. That is not Winky D. Trevor himself shows he does not understand him. He said he lives in a cacoon. Why ? Because he is not the type to be easily swept by the hype. This man is not a musician persea. He is somebody who, because of circumstances, found a little hole thru music to out himself. Otherwise the greater part of him is not yet in the open.

A year after this he won two international awards.1)Best Dancehall Artist 2020 Award at the African Entertainment Awards United States of America (AEAUSA) 2).Best African/ Dancehall Entertainer International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA). The best Zimbabwean dancehall reggae artist in my world. good to see the world realizing our national treasure. surely he doesn't need international collaboration to be recognized. thanks, Trevor for this interview I always come back he and there.
