It does state on kia's website to make sure the roller tappet is in the low position before taking off fuel pump up top, otherwise the bolts on the fuel pump will break. You also want to add oil around the O ring on the fuel pump and oil on the notches of the roller tappet if replacing it before installing. Great video thanks!
@@ronaldrollins4715 yes I used the same volts that were used to hold down the high pressure fuel pump... those can be reused unless they're damaged. Torque them to proper specs
Pulled the hpfp off to change the valve cover gasket. The fuel pump is covered in wet soot. I just walnut blasted the valves. 2015 kia gdi 2.4. 95kmiles. The inlet for the fuel pump is caked. Have you seen this?
I think I have same problem on my Kia optima plug in hybrid. 2019. Still have warranty. Went to dealership and they said it’s normal engine noise, but I clearly hear the noise or rattle from the engine. Is this the same issue on my optima plug in?
So I finally got around to ordering the camshaft follower and installing it. The noise did not stop, however if I unplug the electrical connector to the pump while running the noise stops. Therefore it must be the pump itself. No? We will see when I get around to getting that part lol.
I love this guy and I love his videos but he talks too much in the beginning especially when you're in a hurry trying to find out what's wrong with your vehicle
If its not a turboed vehicle then you probably dont have a high pressure fuel pump. You will have the low pressure pump which is in the fuel tank (drop back seats, lift up carpeting and it'll be under the black metal cover)
Replaced my hpfp few months ago and then car started making the squeal. Yesterday i got the cam follower and when i replaced it, everything was fine....then today it just came right back 😑🤦♂️. Its only on cold start though and when accelerating anywhere above 3k rpm before engine is at operational temp.
You did not replace the fuel pipe that is a must and no torque specs? How many people are going to destroy their car because of your video. Very unprofessional. Fail👎
It don't matter which battery cable you take off first as far as hurting the car. If you take the positive off first just make sure to not have any thing laying there that can fall on the battery and touch the positive post and any metal on the vehicle. It will cause a flash and could harm the computer or catch fire. This video is about replacing a fuel pump and leaking fuel on the engine. As a general rule always remove your ground first on any vehicle then the positive. To put it back on connect positive first and then the ground last.

Hey Grayv, how do I get the roller tappet in the low position?
I second this how do you get it on low position?
Hey did you find out? @@innovatecoin9990
My fuel

I have to replace fuel pump or can I just replace cam follower and be ok
I replaced my cam follower and my Sonata doesnt make that annoying metal to metal noise car is quieter now... good video
Did you reuse the same bolts? And torque specs? Thanks.

@@tdbone35how do you go about torquing them to proper specs?
Thank you for this video.. I've took my car to multiple places and no one could figure out what was wrong
After replacing the high pressure fuel pump and the cam follower, does the system need to be reseted or timmed or calibrated?
I love your videos bro! They’ve helped me with all my Kia issues.

Do we need to grease the new cam shaft follower before installing?
Is this gonna be the same on Kia Sorento V6?
Can this fuel pump follower make noice only in morning during cold start and than go away or it is making rattle noise permanent?
It’s west n tear time for a new one.
I wish you continued how to put the new one- the order is important

Wow you actually walnut blasted the valves. I would love to do mine but don’t have the tools to do so. Seems like such a hastle

Does this work on the 2018 model as well?
I am looking to find the 10 mm bolts you took off, but I cannot find them anywhere.
Is it bad to erase code it's giving me a knox sensor code a friend erased code now it runs great??
I have metal noice from high pressure fuel pump after replacement of this camshaft follower. What could go wrong during the replacement?
Did you ever figure out the problem?
Does anyone have pictures of the cam itself or the lobe that rolls on the follower bearing

Is the diagnostic code P1233?
You need to change the titles to your videos, you dont show how to replace, only remove. Theres no reinstall
Same as how he removed it bro it's simple
@@bosspranks8349 nah, you gotta rotate the crank til that piston on the hpfp is at the bottom, other wise youll damage it
@MarioMartinez-kl1rq o okay but that's only if you got to change it right or should you change it anyway?
please do this for 2019!!
How much does a cam follower cost

I have a Kia Optima estate 2018 but I cannot seem to locate the low pressure fuel pump wii no I’ve goes inside the tank, can anyone help with this ?
Its under your left hand passenger seat. You need to remove your rear seats to access it.
Can I just throughly the high pressure fuel pump and reuse it? Where i live they want $1000.00 for it
They sell em online under $100
Thank u
The rebuild I just did has a double notch instead of single
Almost five dam minites into the video then he gets to the problem it's called a tappet"" not cam follower

Why don't you just say which battery terminal to disconnect in this video?!! Unsubscribed!
