I first watched this film as a white belt back in 2014, And the second time I watched was as a black belt in 2023. It really rekindled what I first felt doing this for the first time. Thank you Stuart for this masterpiece.
Thanks Klyde for appreciate it 🙏
That's funny, I did basically the same thing. Started in 2014 as a white belt and now in 2023 being a black belt, watched this video once more... (although I did watch it once in a while during my years as a colored belt 😉)
Third recent ‘Black belt’ here. Started my journey 2012 ----fast forward DEC 18th 2023----> now a Black Belt. Congrats to all the white belts that never quit. 🖤❤️🖤❤️
The only thing i HATE with brazilian jiu jitsu is that I did not start earlier.
im really hating this ringworm on my freaking face!
Ruben Narvaez What do that have to do with my comment?
getting ringworm is another thing that sucks from bjj.
99% of bjj practitioners are expossed to some crappy skin diseases...
OH DAMN i feel kinda stupid now. Now i got how that realates to my comment. Well you also got cauliflower ears. Started to get it on my left ear, but it was nothing big and it is gone now.
Ruben Narvaez Get antifungal cream.. problem will be gone in a week! Lamisil is powerful...
I really wish I could tell this guy how much this video increased my passion for this art....
+Jiu Jitsu Brotherhood Nic, I watched this when it came out...and after almost three years it's very refreshing it watch it every once in a while. Thank you for being an inspiration. I hope I'll have the opportunity to meet you some day.
@@JiuJitsuBrotherhood Just now seeing this! Still watch it every here and there... A purple belt now and a competitor, a huge fan of you Soul video too. Keep it going!
It's a way of life...#bjj
This video made me start jiu jitsu.
last year i was very depressed for some reasons, and i was looking for a change..
I watched this movie, i don' even remember how i found it, but i did, and i just have to say... Thank you Stuart, and thank you Nic for making this movie... first time i fell in love with a sport in my life
i am happier than i ever was
MrKosko8 whats your belt or rank now?

MrKosko8 awesome brother, I can attest to the full benefit of BJJ for mental health, there is no better environment for a person to overcome their demons. Keep it up bro...also go watch Roll 🖐🏼👊🏻
Thats awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing that man! :)
This is still the greatest Jiu Jitsu video ever filmed for RUclips so many years later. Always inspires me.
Agreed
And BJJ SCOUT DEMIAN MAIA 4 PART SET
Your never too old to start. Started this year at 39 years old, best thing ive done in a long time. Its painful, its sore, but its something ill do till I die.
+Justin Trout
Me too! Had a few injuries at the beginning, had to learn that im not twenty anymore. But now i found my way, listen better to my body, roll a little slower and cautious...and i love it :-)
I started in 2012 when I was 38 and have been on and off for 7 years. I received my purple belt in Dec 2018 and feel a new passion for it.
It's hard to find a good flow rolling partner, but when you do find one, and you guys really get on, it's beautiful man. Thank you.
Thanks for watching
I’ve watched this many times over the years. Always been my favorite video on RUclips. And it always inspired me in BJJ and in living a more grounded, aware life, but I always had it in the back of my mind that I wanted to make something as powerful and immersive as this video. Now years later I’m on my way to becoming a videographer, and this short film is always in the back of my mind. I eventually want to make something as impactful and beautiful as this. Thanks Stu
I've always had an interest in jiu jitsu. I have never practiced martial arts. I remember watching this film with Nick two years ago and I became so inspired to train jiu jitsu but never had the resources to invest in classes. Now two years later I'm watching this film after my first time rolling and after two classes of bjj. I have to say I am over joyed and proud of myself for making this happen. I am very blessed to have this opportunity. Nick is a tremendous inspiration to my training.
Black White Asian etc we are all brothers in jujitsu
Eruj Jgt for sure brother. I'm proud that I can say I train jujitsu!!!!!
Had the pleasure of rolling with Nic on Friday, very cool guy and as always, great video Stu.
Thanks man!
I watched this back in 2015 and 5 years later I got my blue belt. Very inconsistent for the first 4 years and 9 months. Life has been a challenge. And the last 4. Months have been of non stop hard work. I always go back to this partícula video for light in a dark day. Today is one. Thank you 🙏🏾
I love how this guy views it. I love the flow roll concept. It's like ground tai chi.
For a few minutes there, I actually forgot I was at work lol.
awesome! haha
I watch this video all the time, you need to do more like this. Classic combination of music, philosophy and action shots, epic! The Blackmill song is now one of my pretraining warm up songs I use to get me in the zone

Of all the sports I've played there is NOTHING else in this life quite like the perfect roll.
The back and forth chess match, technique vs technique with minimal energy spent from both parties, the roll that's simply... Perfect.

This video is so well done... I've watched it multiple times you've really grasped the concept of BJJ in my eyes. It's an art and something special and I loved hearing your point of view on it
Pj DeVo me either
When I received my training to be a yoga instructor/ teacher it was at a school that was named after the "Lila" concept . You're one of the very few ppl that I've ever heard speak on that topic . I remember when. I first heard it I thought of how it was very relatable to Jiu-jitsu,martial arts, budo etc . Great stuff as always Nic & Stuart.
beautiful video!
man this was just well made... gj again
stuart cooper keep the awesome videos coming! my favorites would be "Robson Moura Jiu jitsu has no end", "The spirit of Jiu Jitsu" and "The journey never ends" awesome work!
I honestly believe in my soul that jiujitsu conquers the divide of nations, and it surpasses all indifferences that humanity faces, and it truly is "the gentle way"
This is amazing, it's inspiring to become not just a perfect jiu jitsu fighter but the perfect martial artist. This man is one of the best philosophers i have ever seen.

thats amazing dude.Congrats.take that pride and apply to other things in life.
Great video, thanks so much. Love your brand. I got my black belt after 10 years of training 5 days a week at the age of 62. I am now 64 years old. I also love and am inspired by your words that you want to be 60 years old and still training, using almost no strength, with timing being everything. Well, those are true words. I am to stupid to quit and so is my 63 year old training partner. We can't quit because then the other will feel lonely. lol. Anyway, if I can give a snap shot into the future for those 30-year olds what it's like at 60, it sucks. We can NOT bang anymore, we can NOT use strength, nor speed, and certainly not athleticism because it does not exist. What does exist is exactly what you said, using almost no strength, with timing being everything. Usually, when the rounds start, I take a defensive position, wait for my younger partners to try and pass, try and sweep and counter everything they do. I might be a new black belt in BJJ, but if they gave rank for defense, I would be a third degree black belt in defense. No joke. its all about defending first, assessing the situation, looking for little weight shifts to take advantage of a sweep, looking for my partners to get frustrated or gassed out trying to whoop on an old black belt for which they can not so easily. Also, as soon as they get a position, no matter what rank, and I feel there is little chance of escape or reversal, I consider that a danger and tap. One time I was training with a 33 year old purple belt and he got a bicep slicer on me and of course I study the defense. However, I was lazy and did not defend in time and felt pressure on my bone and tapped. His mouth dropped, his eyes opened wide and he could not figure out why I tapped. I said at the end of the roll, "sure I might have powered out of that bicep slicer, but better to tap today and train tomorrow than have black belt pride and get hurt and be sidelined for a few weeks." He understood and now there is no fear of me tapping out and no ego because I am still training daily. So in conclusion, thanks for making this great video and love your brand. Allen
So inspiring. Thank you
Absolutely love this.
Loved this. Thank you. 😌
Thanks
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks
Amazing story man! You inspired me to go back to training. I quit BJJ because of financial reasons and was never able to go back. I hope to roll again soon. Keep training!
I put this on my ipod so I can listen to it before class. I love jiu jitsu. It has transformed my life.
Great video.
Awesome video! I'll be thinking about the fluidity of movement and his peaceful state of mind on the mat tonight at Bowie MMA.
I'm far from there, but the journey sure is fun...
BEAUTIFUL VID! OSSS!
You have no idea how long I've been looking for the name of the song Thanks a bunch.
I have no words to describe what I feel when I go up on the mat for more of a workout, so I am transported to another world, the problems disappear, Jiu Jitsu is my life. Congratulations for the video brother was sensational.
