All the comments I see are years old so I’m adding a new. This is amazing. Love seeing guys who play like this. It makes simultaneously grateful for the opportunity to play and yet, ache to be able to play like them.

I got to see these two pick at the Midnight Jam at Merlefest years ago; they started on a Beatles' tune, then blasted into the improvisational stratosphere. At midpoint, they noodled a Beatles tune again, then returned to wailing spontaneously, and then, 20 minutes later, they ended on a Beatles tune. It was astounding, to say the least....

Insane. Thile always plays like he is having an out-of-body experience. Bryan Sutton is my favorite bluegrass guitar player, and has been since I first heard him -- but I've never heard his playing go into orbit like this. If watching this doesn't inspire a guitarist or mando player, I don't know what would...

So funny to see the scroll of the headstock broken off such an awesome mandolin. I heard he dropped it coming off stage at a show. Also, Just realized that first minute is Angeline the Baker.

They start dabbling in "Billy in the Lowground" around 4 minutes. Thile and Michael Daves play that on their new album, and Daves actually mentions in an interview that he learned a great version of the tune from Bryan Sutton. Great little connection there.

Someone once asked what tune they were sampling:
"Angeline the Baker" is the song right around :55 / 1:15. Right?
