  • And what can we learn from all of this? That's the topic of the video. Steve Vai is extremely good, and I'm looking at his learning journey. We all probably know about his 10 hour guitar workout, but there's more to it than that. I hope you enjoy!

    There's a digital display back there, don't let it reach 88 miles per hour or you will travel through time, and I want to hear what you have to say till the end of the video.

    Yep there is a lot of practice involved, yep he has big hands, that help too, but there are thousands of young players practicing obsessively and they don’t get that level, there is a theory, Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, basically there are 8 of them, one is the musical Intelligence, yep almost everyone can do music, a small percentage can be good and only a few between thousands can reach the guitar god status as Vai, a rare combination of insanity practice and musical talent (intelligence).

      Yeah, a day. Then never pick up guitar ever again. I tried practicing guitar for around 8 hours. My palm felt so stiff and painful the next day 😂

    I feel that 99% of youtube guitarist can play OTHER guitarist music. But can't play their own. They can't just play. Not play anything particular. Improvisation is not an ability of these players.

      Now I have the opposite problem. Lol. I can improvise, but I don't know how to play awesome solos or shred yet. 🤣

    Steve Vai has super long skinny fingers. Anyone and I mean anyone with super long skinny fingers will be good at guitar in no time. This is just facts. I have observed this phenomenon I would say at least 20 times in real life..... If you want to see someone who truly climbed out of mud blood sweat and tears to be good at guitar, look at people with short fingers or short stubby fingers.

    • @ripjaffurs
      @ripjaffurs 24 дня назад +4

      Not rly man. Look at guys like EVH or SRV who had short stubby fingers . Guitar skill is attributed to nothing besides consistent practice. Your skill will be directly proportional to how much time you put into it.

    U described deliberate practice but didn't say it 🤔

    • @LEOsoulMonarch
      @LEOsoulMonarch 21 день назад

      Well to man's credit, he did more than just describe deliberate practice. He detailed it.
      I've learned a good bit from this vid. And as a mostly self taught guitarist, the things he said in this video can help me define and focus on what's important, which I think is his overarching message here. I can't tell you how many times I've hit a wall trying to figure out where to go next to get to what I want. But sometimes the issue was that what I wanted wasn't fleshed out as much as it needed to be.
      So man's helped me personally.

    But is he actually good? Sure he is technically impressive but sonically pleasing... Not in the least. Overrated guitar felacio that most people find repulsive.

    • @LEOsoulMonarch

      Wait wait wait, my brotha in Christ.......before you draw that conclusion, I have a question:
      Did you listen to Ego Death, Building the Church, For the Love of God, and Teeth of the Hydra?
      I think those might change ur mind.
      Also, I will admit that I can give credibility to the "playing flashy isn't everything" viewpoint; it's possible to say a bunch of stuff without really telling a story with it. But Vai can do more than that, from what I've heard. He's capable of using his virtuosity strategically.
      So yes, I would have to say he's actually good. In this respect, and many more.
