    Step 1. Go to work

      4h is not "that much". 6h a day of PLAYING is by far standard for anyone who wanna be/is a professional/tries to be. u can easily get 10-12h of "guitar work" if u put in there the filming+ editing+recording+ research etc.
      If its strict playing, usually u wont play more than 6-8h, but i can speak only for myself and a very close friend. We def had many days of 8h+ of playing. Its like any other "job" or prepping for a job. Yall been to uni ? u study all the time u awake-sleep-back to it. This no diff

      @castleanthrax1833 7 месяцев назад

      @@cechichanWhy are you quoting "that much"?
      The op never implied it was an excess amount. All they were saying is you don't need to practice for 5 hours a day to get better, or even to get good at all.
      After a certain amount of playing, you aren't improving your muscle memory or building on your knowledge. The human brain can only assimilate so much knowledge, and it's the same with muscle memory. You can play for 12 hours but it doesn't mean you'll be getting 4 times better than someone who plays for 3.

    I don't get to practice everyday as I don't get chance, but I've tried to be a bit more structured and I've found myself playing stuff I found difficult with a lot more ease, I work a lot on pull offs, hammer ons are so easy but it's the pull offs and instead of playing say 1234 I play 4321 playing the descending stuff is far more difficult so I concentrate on that, if you can play it descending anything else will come a lot easier, or at least that's what I found works for me

Sorry just wanted to rant since this video kinda made me see differently a bit more, thx :)

    Ive been seeing people say that they don't have energy or something to practice guitar this much. It honestly shouldn't be a chore. If you're not enjoying it for that long then maybe consider a new instrument, bc i believe you shouldn't do it if its not fun. I play guitar, and I don't set a timer for how long a day I should play. I just play all the time, whenever I get a free chance. Because I love it. I get lost in playing and end up playing for hours even though it only seems like 20 mins have gone by. So don't push yourself if you don't really want to. Ur choice, just a suggestion!

    Some years back I was subject to procrastination on the guitar : either I let the guitar in its corner for almost the full day and only finally played it at the end of the day, or (5-10 days later) I got over my lazyness and grabbed the thing for several hours in a row but not knowing where I was going... (and ended up more wore out than necessary !).
    Trying to solve this problem I now play SHORTER 3 or 4 or 5 sessions in the day EVERYDAY. That's how I found that during my procrastination period in fact the most difficult thing to do was move my ass and grab the guit. I think it is the key point that allows me to go forward.

    I'm working fulltime, have a girlfriend and love playing video games. I started playing guitar one year ago and I committed to play at least one hour everyday. Sometimes I get two hours, but wish I had much more time.

      Same here..I've found having an acoustic around me all the time helps a lot. Very easy to just pick up for 10-15 minutes through the day

    I’m getting a new guitar 1st electric guitar ever can’t wait to begin learning how to play this instrument. Seems like I can take some of the things I learned from the piano into my guitar learning journey 🤔

    The guy in the video has a signature orange amp. It does sound very good for the bluesy stuff

    I should learn more licks and riffs. Currently working on the sextuplet pattern at the end of the intro to Rock You Like a Hurricane.

    my bad habit is multitrack recorders. Portastudios, Not DAWs! I like to record a drum machine first and then start layering instrument parts to see what I can come up with ( and make my own self written tunes) Its a good way to flush 6 to 12 hours down the drain, and not get very much sleep. I play electric guitar plus 20 other music instruments, (I don't play drums) and I have to make time for all of those instrumentst (not easy) either to practice them individually, record tracks with them, or play them along with youtube backing tracks. Not playing in any bands at this time.
