Narwhal has slowly become my favorite pen manufacturer. They are doing some really interesting things and their pens always write well, are wet and smooth. I have 4 pens and they are all a dream to write with.

Great review. I enjoyed the outdoors portion. I really like Nahvalur pens. I have six of them!

I have not tried my copy of this pen, yet. It is the same size as the Narwhal Nautilus. It has a great feel in the hand. With the Nautilus I did swap the nib with a Jowo EF nib. It works very well.
I chose the New York model as I worked in NYC for 30+ years and this pen will be added to my similar themed pens.

Been a long time fan of BPC inks, and Cold Steel was my first. Glad to see it used here on this one.
I've been eyeing the Shanghai version of this pen for a bit. Thanks for this review.

Having missed my chance to get a Narwhal Nautilus Bronze Corydoras retail, I'm just sulking about Narwhal. But, almost thou persuadest me, James!

Enjoy that NY spring, I miss the explosion of green and how quickly it all transforms the landscape!

My New York naïveté was ended when I stationed (USAF) to study for a year at Syracuse University. Until then, I thought the entire state of NY was asphalt or concrete. I had just left San Antonio and missed the lush green of my home area in rural Illinois. When I got to Syracuse, I was simply blown away by the depth of the lush green landscape. While there I rode with a friend to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown and Ithaca, though I actually think that had more to do with a church event. Nevertheless: WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STATE! I confess I am not a big city guy. I try to avoid L.A. completely (I do love San Diego), never was a Big D guy, hated Chicago, have been to NYC only 1 time in my life (1972) and have not missed it. Paradoxically, I love London! I loved my short visit to Paris. Loved living in Buenos Aires. I felt safe in and loved Tokyo. I walked around Shanghai and Beijing and loved the experiences. [Shanghai’s air qualify has deteriorated to the point that I wold now avoid it, perhaps Beijing as well. In 2000, I did no believe air quality had an impact on my walks. In other words, I am not consistent, but I discovered that outside the biggest cities in the USA, the world has held incredibly pleasant surprises. [I love the NYC Narwhal acrylic best. By now it may be sold out anyway, but the temptation is great. I too love the ink window and their piston mechanism. Fun review!

I think upstate NY is a well kept secret from most of the US. We loved living near the Adirondacks, and Cooperstown is a beautiful area. London is a favorite city of ours as well, we're itching to go back.

I absolutely love Narwhal--even more so after the shenanigans that TWSBI pulled--but they lost me on this pen. I have several of their Schuylkills and an Original and I kinda like the Nautilus and will probably get one in the not too distant future, but the Voyage simply doesn't give me enough bang for my buck. Over here on this side of the pond, it's 163€. Considering it has the same nib as my 45€ Original, I'd basically be paying 118€ for some fancy resin with diamond dust. And don't even get me started on the gaudy gold furniture. Sorry James, hard pass. Glad you like it though. Hope you got to keep it.

Hmm… you forgot to mention as a pro that it’s a piston filler. I think that’s always a plus! It’s a beautiful looking pen. NYC and Chicago are two of my favourite US cities, so which would I choose? I have such a love for the Great Lakes. As an Australian, living on the driest continent on earth, the concept of massive freshwater lakes is amazing. Chicago is like a dream emerging from the prairies. That said, I love orange and blue as a colour scheme. It is great they make their nibs in house. We all love JoWo nibs, but it’s good to find something unique out there. Anyway, love the content as always!

Good point, I definitely consider that a pro.
I haven't gotten to visit Chicago since 1990. I've been wanting to go back for a long time.

Excellent review. Lovely pen. I wonder though about Birmingham being in the north east. Maybe from the perspective of Texas but I consider Alabama to be south East

I would wonder, too. They are a Pittsburgh company. I made that same assumption the first few times I saw their brand.

I love my new Orleans and Shanghai. Even after growing up in NY I hate no loath the NYC pen so much. Sorry… it looks like the Mets and the Mets are a Long Island team. Anyone from NYC knows the Yankees are the true team of the city. I hate this pen so much.
