I instantly started laughing the moment I saw Bob and Bing appear in their get up's~!~ LOLOL! These days we need Bob and Bing and Dorothy more than back then!!!!!!!
This was from the last of the Road movies, “Road to Hong Kong”, which all three had starred in over a 22 year span. Dorothy Lamour only had a cameo in this movie since they had replaced her with the 29 year old Joan Collins. Why? Because Bing thought Lamour was too old (at 48) to play their love interest anymore (Bing and Bob Hope were 59 mind you). Lamour did get this cameo because Bob Hope refused to do the movie without her. I personally think she would have easily pulled off the love interest.
Yes! This is truly what actually happened! However, according to Lamour in her biography, the people who produced the movie refused their support only if Dorothy Lamour was in the picture. Bing Crosby didn't want her at all in the film. He finally agreed but to only let her do a cameo appearance in order to get the producers backing.
Lamour was a singer in Herbie Kaye's band in the 1930's. At one time, she had her own 15 minute radio show, and also sang on Rudy Vallee's show. She continued to sing during her movie career and thereafter, well into the 1970's. Lamour did all of her songs in the Road movies, although of course they were recorded in a studio and lip synced during filming.
@@donbrown1284 And please tell me, what has "Part Black" got to do with either her voice or her looks? When Betty Grable or Doris day sang, did you also put "White People" They were elegant beautiful and had gfreat vocal ability.
My stepfather loved this movie and this trio and I tagged along and got brainwashed haha
Classic. Never gets old.

R.I.P. Bing Crosby (1903-1977), Dorothy Lamour (1914-1996) and Bob Hope (1903-2003).
That is Dottie singing she often sang in their movies.

Hope’s eyes.
No need to switch the voices . Dorothy Lamour was such a beauty . I wonder is that her singing ?
As far as I know, she sang her own vocals in all of her films.
Sounds just like her voice in the other Road To movies... so, if not, they got the same person to cover her, each time.
She is a beauty...real name: Mary Leta Dorothy Slaton. And part black (Creole).
