I'm so glad ur showing the different price ranges and budgets that's possible in Bali... Balances out the travel flex Bali villa beach clubs videos that gives the impression that Bali is expensive...which might discourage others from visiting...I've been to Bali three times and traveled all over Indonesia and I love it...and I know it's very possible to travel and live in Bali/Indonesia on a modest income
Everytime you drop a video it’s always a blast..powerful,thorough and Clean keep It up
There’s so much dignity and respect to be an independent woman.I spent my 20s working and investing. Now I’m 31 and I have about 10 streams of income . Supporting my husband and kids and buying anything I want without asking anyone for moneys. Dear Jean, I love the way you explain Indonesian traditional food and the cutest expression when you eat ♥😂
Thank you Linda 🤩🙏🌻😍 we really appreciate you watching our videos and leaving us notes!
always love to see someone who visit a local market and enjoy the stuff there. I prefer to watch a video like this rather than video about a fancy restaurant. Enjoy the Bali's atmosphere both of you Jean. I can't wait to visit Bali too on another occasion.
Yang buat rindu Indonesia adalah MAKANNYA , Titik !
So happy to see you guys enjoying it
Great video 👍🏻 love how you make it very interesting and cinematographic 👍🏻😊 and you and Vitaly's personality are so humble, friendly and positive, we love that about you two 😊
Btw, the gorengan :
The purple gorengan is sweet potato (Ubi), the ball is misro - sticky rice ball with brown sugar and coconut shavings inside
Keju coklat campur means they put cheese n chocolate together in the bread, instead of half cheese and half chocolate roti bakar 😊 love your culinary vlogs, waiting for more 🙏👍🏻
Glad to see you guys how to found a 'not popular' places.. like the previous video, it's like discovery the hidden gem, and the quality of the video is really good too.. keep it up guys
Absolutely loved your vlog. Have never eaten Bali food when there, but after seeing your vlog, am totally going to try Bali street food. 😀
U must! It makes the whole bali experience outta the world! We’re so happy we left the hipster cafe scene behind us almost completely now
Just watching your vids entices me to visit Bali, so in the meantime, will live vicariously through all your delicious food vlogs.
i love Bali and Indonesian foods can't wait to visit again. Thank you for sharing all the delicious foods
It's an amazing food tour, Jean! A little bit information about the gorengan:
-The purple one is Fried Sweet Potato or Ubi Goreng in Indonesian. We have the yellow one, but this one use the purple one.
-The ball with something sweety inside is Misro. It's Sundanese acronym of Amis di Jero (literally means Sweet Inside). I guess the seller originally from Western Java, but it could be Balinese also have this kind of food. The dough is made from shredded cassava and filled with melted brown sugar.
Can't wait to see you and Vitaly go for another food tour in Bali
In Jawa Timur we called as Jemblem 😅
I'm Balinese, and the ball there we call it as 'pulung ubi' and might in other district will be different name given.
In Central Java we called it klenyem 🤣🤣🤣
The fried egg is called Telor Pantek
Thank you for visiting Bali, I hope the pandemic ends, and friends out there can visit this beautiful Bali again
I really love when you explain the taste of the food that your eat, you're so nice and look so kind. Enjoy your moment in our country💕
my country is not as modern and luxurious as yours, but seeing you so enjoy all the simplicity: the food, the vibes, and the hospitality, I'm very grateful. Enjoy Indonesia with all the simplicity that we have. I love you both. May you always be blessed and given health
10:52 that so called "egg" is actually kremesan
So the reason why that chicken is yellow is due to a marination from Indonesian spices and on of them are "kunyit" it makes the colour yellow, the marinade mixture didnt get wasted after it's done with the chicken instead it's used for "kremesan"
Kremesan itself are made by:
-egg
-tapioca flour/rice flour/flour (there's a lot of mixture recipe and each of them have different ratio)
-marinade mixture spices from the chicken
-water
All of them are mixed into liquid consistency then fried into hot oil, and it will crispified in an instant just like in this video , and theyre super delicious 🤤

10:49 it is called kremes or, in English is called crispy. It isn't an egg btw, it is a leftover chicken seasoning that mixes with cornstarch, and they fry it. So, if you buy chicken fry in Indonesia, they sometimes offer you this thing. You need to ask them if they can give you kremes in there, but sometimes you need to pay extra for that. I have a recommendation if you are in Indonesia, especially if you go to Jakarta, to get lele goreng kremes/frying catfish. It is good and they also offer for kremes sometimes.
Getting fat after coming home from Bali because the food is delicious. Bebek betutu i loved

5:26 it's called misro (read: miss ro) stands for amis di jero or in english sweet inside. Made from grated coconut, filled with palm sugar to give it a sweet taste.
There is another version, namely comro, which stands for oncom di jero, oncom is a kind of fermented soybean.

Ooh yes we must go over to Jakarta to poke around at some point. I expect the food scene there to be super exciting too no? I’ll reach out to u for recommendations before we go for sure!
@@JeanVoronkova jakarta is a melting pot of almost all ethnicities in indonesia. You can find almost all food from west indonesia to east and everything in between. Want aceh food? Want indonesian chinese food? Can, want chinese chinese food?can, want batak food? Can, want bugis food? Can, want ntt food? Can, want papua food? Can etc. Want authentic jakartan food(soto betawi, nasi uduk, nasi ulam, ketroprak and more) can! What makes jakara stands out even more, is the international cuisine. Thai, vietnamese, korean, turkish, indian, mexican, nigerian, peruvian, brazilian and so much more. Last but not least, american fast food chains, not just the obvious ones such as mcd and bk, but you can find wendys, carls junior, taco bell, popeye, a&w and what not. So yeah basically, go to jakarta please..go explore...oh and have a romantic dinner at skye bar, enjoy the view of jakarta from the 56th floor.
@@JeanVoronkova Yes, just like Carlos said, it's very diverse and the options are way too many that even I haven't even tried most of them! I'll happily recommend some of my favorite places, and who knows, maybe we can even meet up - that would be awesome! 😻
@@JeanVoronkova if you go to Jakarta, Try Kerak Telor and Soto Betawi. That's the authentic cuisine from Jakarta.
10.33 thats called kremesan or kremes here in Java. It is made of the leftover of chicken broth and tapioca starch which is deep fried.
Omg u mean there’s completely no egg in it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 we totally thought the Ibu told us it is telur!
It’s so good though hard to believe it’s just broth and starch!!!
It's coorect using egg, it use egg to make kremesan texture like that
Hi. Iam from Bali, and i know exactly what it is. Coz I eat it almost every week in warung and sometimes made it by my self. Yes, it is kremesan, but Ibu told you the right thing. It is made from egg, rice flour and tapioca...Balinese style....fried with special way, if you curious about it, just find "kremesan telur ala bali in youtube..most of warung nasi Bali serve this egg kremes...salam dari Jimbaran

The crispy egg thing is called kremes or kremesan same thing usually appears in ayam geprek or smashed chicken
Not only Bali, Indonesia has lots of culinary choices in each region that will blow your mind. They have their own uniqueness

Hey jean! Am glad i chance upon your channel. I am also from Singapore and have been wanting to quit and relocate my life since 20s. Like in your video, I just have so many fears. I watched through all your videos in one day and it gave me a lot of questions to think through as well as encouragement to draw plans into actions. Hi!! I've been to Bali a few times and here are my favorite food:
- Pork ribs. Naughty Nuri's may be the most famous, but I find Larzo's ribs to be bigger and yummier! Cheaper, too. It's located in Renon area, not very crowded at all, but I assure you it's such a hidden gem you won't regret.
- Bebek Betutu near Bali International airport, in front of Khrisna souvenir center.
- Tanamera Coffee is amazing. Ask for Sumatra beans if you need extra punch!
- Gusto Gelato has like 50+ flavors and you'll always find yourself going back to try more. My favorite flavor is chili chocolate, and strawberry with real macaron in it, yummy!
I also went to traditional market to buy snacks, unfortunately I didn't remember the name of sweet rice cakes I ate in Ubud Art Market but it was so good 💕 for some reason the seller hiked the price on me though, when my friend (a local) bought the same cake she got 5 pieces for 10k IDR, I only got 2 pieces 😬 probably local privilege lol. But still worth it!
