Ralph Steadman's illustrations for the gonzo classic "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" are as famous as Hunter S. Thompson's prose. The British cartoonist found a favorite subject in Richard Nixon, a man he personally loathed but loved to draw. Steadman has gone on to draw successive American presidents, including Barack Obama, in his distinctive ink and spatter style and the release of a new film about him is an opportunity to look back at his impressions of American leaders.

I like this technique. You don't know what to paint until you ink splatter the paper and quickly observe human and animal images with shapes that emerge.
I could see a face after the second ink splash. Pity he added the third.
I liked the remote control switch hanging from above - presumably he can photograph the work in progress, anytime. Smart!
I was thinking this just earlier. 'I wish I could paint. I'd never have to talk to anyone again.'

I can't stand these "rock n roll" artists, whether it be Ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarf, Jamie Hewlett, or even those in the field of photography like Mick Rock and David Bailey. Don't get me started on Banksy!

@@loungejay8555 well....you at least are honest about yourself. You don't hafta like any particular artists, I'm sure all of them would be indifferent entirely to your opinions anyway, but you should know, that just because you are not famous now, it doesn't mean you won't succeed someday later, if you actually work hard for it as they did, and just keep a bright relaxed patient attitude. You should do art to do art, not to get famous. That's probably how most illustrators of any stripe get by.
Why are you on this youtube channel then? just confused...life's too short to watch videos about people you "can't stand." Have a good one...
With that attitude no one will like you!
