I am Nigerian and I can tell you that all of this has its root in poverty. Troops can’t change this, sadly. People need to eat, and because of our leaders’ selfishness, hidden motives and lack of responsibility, people are turning to radical elements to liberate themselves, and those who don’t, hear stories of kidnapping and widespread violence and pray its not them. The situation is worsening by the day, and there’s a palpable tension in the air that very soon, the people will say we have had enough. I pray that when that day comes, it is without bloodshed.
History is littered with cases of people saying they've had enough of the oppressive authority of rulers and then being killed or put in camps and prisons when they try to resist it, even if that resistance is done through non-violent means. It's therefore imperative for such a movement to have the ability to defend itself with force if necessary. I would recommend The Failure of Nonviolence written by Peter Gelderloos. It is available for free on The Anarchist Library online.

NATO particularly the US and France are largely to blame for the uptick of terrorism in that region. The killing of Gaddafi led to rise of militant groups in and around Libya as well as the inflow of weapons for such groups. You can say what you want about Gaddafi but what he guaranteed in Libya was political, social and economic security. None of those exist anymore in Libya. These groups are now stronger than ever. So my question is who are the real terrorists here?
Gaddafi was the largest source of funding and weapons to terrorist groups during most of the 1990s and 1980s. It was borderline impossible some years to find a terrorist attack he didn't fund, supply, or plan... Are you pretending to be stupid, or are you like 22 or something?
Libya was a terrorist haven before NATO went to Libya in 2011. Remember the 1986 West Berlin bombing or the 1988 Pam am 103 bombing? Also, one the biggest terrorists groups in the Sahel is Boka Haram, which was founded and had their uprising in 2009 beofore NATO intervention in Libya in 2011.
It all comes back to capitalism.
History is littered with cases of people saying they've had enough of the oppressive authority of rulers and then being killed or put in camps and prisons when they try to resist it, even if that resistance is done through non-violent means.
They NEW what they were doing by killing Ghaddafi!
The main problem is something different.
Poverty, lack of education, the lingering influences of colonialism, and the decades of exploitation by outside powers. I'm guessing these have all created a fertile bed for turmoil and insurgency.
