I love the new metal version of the M&P better than the polymer. I'm glad that more gun companies are starting to make metal versions of their polymer guns.
Rear sights are totally different on the metal. Truglo makes the night sights S&W uses on the Law enforcement /military only model. Parts number is Rear-3012841, Front-3012038. Rear-$64.50 and Front-$26.99. These are the same height as the factory ones.
Been a M&P striker guy from the hop even with the horrendous stock trigger. Just couldn’t make the change to Glock work. So The Apex trigger was a godsend when those hit and I installed my first. The improvement over the stock trigger was incredible and worth every penny! Ever since it’s been an automatic addon That is until Timney got in the pistol game. Not sure if you have had the opportunity to try one but they are even a better upgrade than the apex. The flat, wide shoe is exactly what was missing from the Apex system (IMHO) It’s considered a competition trigger- therefore a bit light for duty or EDC use. If you leave the S&W reset spring in place and not use the new comp spring you will end up with about a 5.5# trigger. That may seem heavy on paper but the break on it is so clean and crisp it’s really not even noticeable. Have not tried the new S&W trigger yet - they don’t offer it on anything packaged for a 10 round state - not with a optics cut either. I don’t know who at Smith maps out what options are offered on which M&P pistols, but it’s so damn random. Cannot seem to get everything I want in one SKU The New trigger+Optics cut in a 3.6” barrel or a performance center Shield does not exist for me. It’s very frustrating
Going thru my regular guntube content and came across your video.. quickly became one of my go-tos! Primary side arm is a Beretta 92, so full size pistols are a non issue. This Smith & Western is quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.
I just picked up a m&p metal and the store had both metal and polymer in stock but when I handled both guns the metal just felt soooo much better. It feels like “more gun” if that makes senses. I purchased the metal and It’s my first m&p firearm and I am very happy with my purchase. Shoots better then all if my guns except my 1911.
I love these new metal versions. I have this as well as I just picked up the new competition metal. They're both excellent shooters. A couple of my favorites for sure
@@outboundflight4455 I ended up getting the regular metal because I liked the way it looked more. Felt very similar to the polymer. I do kind of wish I got the competition but I still have mixed feelings on it being larger.
Finally someone did what I wanted to do. I am running my compact slide with night sights on the metal frame. Put the metal slide on the compact. Trijicon supressor height sights are back ordered.
Solid review. Two things I would wish you would have covered: 1. Comparing the metal version to the polymer version with the same upgraded trigger in the newer models and then described shooting differences. 2. This is a big one: The polymer version grip is only 1.1" per S&W. The metal framed version you reviewed as well as the Competitor are both 1.3". This doesn't get talked about enough. For those with larger hands, the metal framed versions will likely feel better. For those with smaller hands -- especially if this is going to be a defensive handgun-- having proper trigger placement/reach while being able to get to the mag release is critical, and having less grip width helps quite a bit on the polymer version
It is very interesting how many of you keep advertising Apex trigger when there is much better one: Timney Alpha Trigger. With 75-years in business, Timney triggers are not just unmatched, but they are unrivaled. And they are less expensive than Apex. Timney trigger for S&W is a masterpiece of engineering.
They assume you’re going to put a light on it since you can’t shoot what you can’t see. Night sights don’t magically light up your target, so they aren’t any better than suppressor height sights. Plus, most people are switching to using a red dot, so the higher sights are geared towards that.
Two ounce difference. I put a brass backstrap on my Canik. The backstrap is two more ounces to the gun. I wonder if they will have after market brass backstraps for the M&P?
It's nice..i have mostly M&Ps...several in fact. Theyre my preference when all factors are considered. Great point about the sights. All the other "2.5s" with the new trigger are optic ready, and also include the tall sights. Minus LE versions. Weird omission of that here on the metal IMO.
S&W may assume the buyer will go with aftermarket sights. Cardboard boxes, less than ideal triggers, and standard sights make this a more affordable gun.
I hope you make more videos. I love that metal look. Thank you for the great video. Im buying the metal after Christmas. Dont use the lords name in vain.
I bought the metal. Came in that stupid box and it just sucks. With what I paid for that God, they owe ma at least a soft case. The gun rocks, but the box sucks. Good video man. Thanks
Yeah, they should definitely give you a better box so that you can toss it. Or they should give you a fabric case that you won't use because you already have a better form of transporting your firearm.
I like pistol firearms and I've always been an aluminum steel framed kind of person... I just purchased my first polymer pistol two weeks ago and honestly I'm not in love with it... I was debating on this for a long time and went with polymer because it's lighter and cheaper but deep down inside I just do not like polymer guns just a personal thing. If I could I would trade it in and get a aluminum or steel frame pistol
Just imagine driving down some desert back road and seeing this guy playing rambo and rolling around in the dirt all by himself because he thinks he’s gonna get into a protracted gunfight at any moment.
I don’t want suppressor height sights 😂 they put cheap sights on there because everyone is picky on which sights they want so if you do choose to put a red dot on you can go ahead and get some raised sights but out of the box don’t put suppressor heights on there
@@pittsmaster1064 really no difference than the polymer framed ones. The weight difference is negligible. Good pistol, but overpriced in my opinion. They should have made it steel
The metal is just better in the hand than the polymer. You're wrong about being identical, the metal slide release stick out farther. So no, you cannot use every holster you use for the polymer. But, it's easier to use your thumb to release the slide. Another great part about the metal is the front rail will never droop or sag. A common problem with polymer pistols.
No one pays MSRP, I paid $749 for mine which included shipping, tax, and transfer. The trigger is definitely a welcome upgrade but if I had one complaint with it I feel it has way too much pre-travel, I feel like it should break at the point where it hits the wall. Otherwise I love mine and the 5" Competitor is on my short list. I had a full custom Agency M&P and I thought it was snappy, the metal feels much softer and flatter to me, but nothing in the striker fired world compares to that Agency trigger

A Sig metal framed gun is 1200-1400 so I think this is reasonable.

If you had to pick one, which would you pick? Home defense/range shooting more specifically.

Not everyone cares for red dots or suppressor height sights. I prefer night sights irons.
Same. I know when I picked mine up that I was thinking geez for the price you’d think they would include night sights
Same, keep it simple.

Nothing against red dots or suppressor height sights. I agree with you I also prefer good old fashioned iron sights.
Same here
Lol. The end of the video. 😎🤘🍻. You where fighting those guns all thru the video
Since the slide stop stocks out a little more than the polymer I had to get a different holster.
Is that a S&W threaded barrel on the polymer gun, and does the threaded barrel work in the metal gun? Thanks

And the 4.25 full size 2.0 performance still has old trigger🤷♂️
my love my smith and weston
This is probably a stupid question, but I never want to get an optic for this pistol, will those screws in the optics cut get loose overtime?
do you have any thoughts on a m&p 2.0 vs p 365 x macro?
I put Meprolight Tru-Dot M&P C.O.R.E. sights on my M&P Metal and they work.
I think the Holosun EPS is low enough to cowitness with the METAL. i dont have one, try it out if you do lol
With the Appex trigger I did not hear the reset.

It’s a 9mm. You shouldn’t “slip out” of the grip. Just use some hand strength.
Please do another video of the CSX
Gun of the year by simply love mine now I have a lot of full of safe queens
Is it good for edc?
Think of it this way it does everything the plastic smith and Wesson M&P does only better
Where is the CSX video!!???
No safety on it?

It doesn't fit the save holster as the polymer version. Had to take a heat gun to my tier 1 concealed holster to make it work.
I carry my Smith and Wesson medal in a Glock 19 holster fits perfect
How is it for edc?

Sir, what caliber is that gun.

A freedomsmith trigger in a canik with springs is waaaayyy better than an apex in an M&P. Not even close.
$200? That is like one rang session. Come on man.

Lol you right😂😂
slide stop/release IS different.
Better for one main reason... the frame doesn't flex.
Call me crazy but i have the polymer and the metal one, I go to work with the polymer one and out with withe metal one😅
As pretty as it looks ... so shall it Fall......
You named the gun incorrectly 😂
