I honestly think this is game changing for cross step awareness - usual practise on land for cross stepping has us preference the centre of the board without understanding the feel of having the rail engaged - this is huge can’t wait to try 👏
Love this video! I stated longboard dancing just before surfing and the two are such a beautiful combination.. both so mindful and never ending journey of exploring movement .. and I know it helped me learn moving my feet on a wave faster .. I'm trying not to be envious of all your fab smooth paths and roads .. slightly lacking along the coast in Ireland lol
I love your vidéos You help me so much on my cross, stepping and nose rides. I recommend your videos to everyone I know. Down here in France, Bretagne Thank you very much indeed and have a good recovery !
Great video Brian. I've used skateboards and surf skate and even though I have watched people on these longer boards before, seeing you ride and bring it back to surfing was a lightbulb moment. fair play dude. hope that old man hip heals up fast.
Nice video! My thoughts from my experience; - You can use the same board (longboard dancer deck) and just add surfskate trucks (And by this I mean real surfskate trucks, not pseudo. If not just stick with good angled longboard trucks, like the Paris here). - A very important thing are the bushings. Spend time with different duros and types (usually cone/cone works better than cone/barrel for surf feeling), it's just personal preferences and might be day and night difference (like fins do) - Take in count the flex, cambers or concaves. Longboards (in water) usually are quite the opposite in terms of flex (if they are not thin, glassed, etc). - Surfskates (with particular truck systems -not regular kp-) usually have more sense when replicating shortboard surfing. But def are worth it with longer boards.
Oh great points! I'm currently useing barrel barrel, but do want to experiment with more. I tried barrel cone and that was pretty good too, but didn't test it too much.
Noel from Surf n Show had a double hip replacement. Let him be your inspiration. Good luck in your recovery. This video is wonderful. Skating has been invaluable for my surfing as a fellow East Coast surfer.
This is great cause I have a longboard too surfboard that is and also I’ve been a mid shaper surfer for decades, but I got into Surf skating recently for two years. I bought a longboard nine at the end of 2021. I don’t use it as much and I’m really having a blast surfing my carvers surf skate And I recently purchased a loaded board just like you have but it’s called the Moby with probably the same yellow fat-free wheels you have on your board. the loaded Moby board has Paris trucks and I’m having a blast with it. I think it works good at a skate park or I can practice some moderate tracks and practice doing 180s on the other section of the skate park that has some ramps and things anyway I love it as a supplement surfing. Sometimes I have more fun surf skating when the waves are not that great.
Nice work mate, have you checked out Surfskate Love? The guy makes very long surfskates to ride. He admits he's not a surfer but maybe you could try one and give a review of how it compares to surfing? Goodluck with your recovery too, I hope you feel better and can get back in the surf soon!
Well I probably shouldn't be on a skateboard haha! But my recovery is going well and I'm feeling pretty strong. Took a small spill and rolled right on my surgical side.. it was no problem. But I do need to be careful
I haven't but they do look cool! They're not really specific 'dancing' boards so it wouldn't be as good for that, but they do look fun! Heavy tho I bet haha
Boom! I’m in! I am already practicing on the kitchen floor while cooking some spicy chicken curry… although I am concerned about skinned knees and broken hips🙈🙈🙈😆🤙
haha yes!! Well yes that's the downside is that you can hurt yourself. Personally I feel pretty safe as I'm never going that fast and have a decent amount of skating experience. But like anything else, sometimes you fall
It depends on the type of approach the surgeon has used. I got the anterior approach so I have next to no risk of dislocation. But even the other approaches, I think you just shouldn't cross your legs for the first 6months or so. But i'm not exactly sure haha! All I know is anterior means I'm all good
Oh yea those things are cool! Wouldn't be as good for the specific hobby of longboard 'dancing' tho. Hamboards are flat and the tarab 2 (board im riding) has raised edges and is smaller and lighter. Those hamboards are heavy!
@ yeah agreed a longboard specific for dancing will definitely perform the best, just thinking the hamboard like the Huntington hop you can cross step and dance some but you also get the advantage of it being a surf skate and really being able to turn so can practice bottom turns into cross steps, but yes they’re extremely heavy and a lot of hamboard’s stuff are very large boards

Yes sir exactly!! Yea I can't wait to see you on one of these. Or just rig one together with a deck you already have

oh awesome!! Yes totally agree, the two really do compliment each other. Yea we do have many options for smooth roads over here haha!
I love your vidéos You help me so much on my cross, stepping and nose rides. I recommend your videos to everyone I know. Down here in France, Bretagne
Thank you very much indeed and have a good recovery !
Oh that's awesome , thanks so much! spread the word... haha!!
Speedy recovery mate. My Achilles tendon rupture put me out of the game for 5 months. All I can say is be patient. Cheers from NZ.
Thanks Jack! Yea it's brutal.. patients is not my strong suit haha! But I'm doing well so far
Wish you a speedy recovery man!
Strengthen them joints!!!
Thanks!!

Yea bro, plus it's incredibly fun. Probably the most fun Iv'e ever had skating and iv'e skated most of my life!

Well that's encouraging! Thanks!! Yea this has been too much fun. Finally some land practice that I truly enjoy haha
@ it has become a second hobby for me as well. I see waves on land now. It is a win win.

Oh that's awesome! Yea it's super fun for sure, that's why I like it as a surf training aid. I gotta have fun or I won't train haha
Babe wake up a new longboard sessions video dropped!! 😂
I think some group skate sessions are in order during flat spells
haha yes sir! Ready when you are
@@jonathan70242 I've been kinda hooked on pumptracks these days.
They're hella fun!
Just causally dropping in major surgery mid vid…
Great work and hope you get in the water filming again soon!
haha thanks Chris! Yea no biggie right haha
Keep it up! You're inspiring!
Thanks so much! Will do

Oh nice! I'm not familiar, but i'll check it out! Thanks, can't wait to get back in the water!
You have got big ones! If I had recent surgery, like your hip replacement, I would not be on a skate board.
Well I probably shouldn't be on a skateboard haha! But my recovery is going well and I'm feeling pretty strong. Took a small spill and rolled right on my surgical side.. it was no problem. But I do need to be careful
I hurt my wrist and knee and havent been in the water for 3 months. 😢
Speedy recovery B
Isn't it the worst?? Thanks!!
Great vid, as always! What board is this?
Thanks so much!! It's a loaded tarab 2. I linked it in the description
50 years of softball and I still have my hips. But I hope your new one lasts a long time!!
Thanks bro!! I hope so too haha
Have you tried Hamboards? It would be interested toy check then out and compared them with this one.
I haven't but they do look cool! They're not really specific 'dancing' boards so it wouldn't be as good for that, but they do look fun! Heavy tho I bet haha
what length is that longboard please Longboard Sessions?
I think it's 47" ? I put the link to the board in the description
@@LongboardSessions thank you!

i thought when a person had hip replacement you’re not allowed to cross legs? risk for dislocation. correct me if i/m wrong.

A hamboard would be great for this although they are really pricey

My name is on the board yay
Yes!!! Now I just gotta hope the names stay solid through use haha! So far so good tho
Packing it on a skateboard mid cross step is a hole notha pain
You're too young for hip replacement!!! Glad it went well and hope you're in the water again soon.
Yea tell me about it! Ridiculous lol. But it's done now and I already feel way better than I did! I'll be in the water in a couple of weeks I think
