The lane keep assist on this vehicle works very well,. This is not an autonomous driving vehicle such as a Tesla. I've driven Nissans, lexus, gm and Honda's. G70s is definitely the best, although Honda's does work very well also.
That comment made no sense. When you lease a vehicle depreciation is already included. Who purchases a new vehicle, just to get rid of it in a couple of years? You need to get a better argument. @@genesisg7022 So when you buy a car, you don't consider resale value? If you buy this car and try to sell it 6+ years later you're going to get next to nothing for it even with low miles. For some reason Genesis/Hyundai have worse resale value even compared to German manufacturers
@@RARA-ri6fl I currently own 3 vehicles. I purchased all of them new. We have only one more vehicle to purchase, that is the Genesis Gv70, it will replace our 2006 Hyundai Tucson. By the time we trade it in, (unless we decide to keep it and use it for trips to Home Depot, or sell it to our youngest son) we will have had it a minimum of 15 years. I do believe we've gotten our money's worth out of it. I totally understand why resale value is an issue for some people, just not my wife and I.
Guess they changed the drive mode cycle. When I had my 2019 G70 3.3, it only saves the drive mode if you leave it on Eco mode (I think Smart mode too?). Other modes like sport and custom, itll go back to normal after you turn off your car. Beautiful car though, probably gonna get this 2020 model, used, after my current lease car ends in 2 years. The new G70 renders doesn't seem to be as good as this generation G70.

Matt Maran Motoring they don’t vent from the wheel well, they vent from the engine bay. How functional they are is up for debate. I won’t argue with you on needing to turn everything off, I would prefer a manual gate on mine. I have quite a few issues with mine actually, as a long term owner
I've had my eyes on a 2.0T Sport with manual since spring of '18. With the lease on my '18 Mazda 6 with manual ending in May '21 (love Mazda, but the G70 wasnt out at that time and I had to buy a vehicle prior to my fleet vehicle being returned the following month), I was hoping to maybe pick up one up this fall/winter. However, due to the inability to find a manual (new), along with the redesign of the G70 (and not having a manual), I opted on reserving the Ford Bronco. Interesting change of fate...
Wow those are completely different vehicles. I’m also seduced by the Bronco but not sure it’s a good idea for my daily city commute. BTW, I’m looking forward to the Mazda6 redesign with the rumored inline 6. But I doubt it will come with a manual.
@@namyu5379 With the departure of manuals in sedans and coupes, along with the Bronco coming with a manual, I decided to go that direction. Looking forward to that as well!
The reviews seem to be great but the true gauge of how good it is is sales #’s. In one year I have seen two on the road. Clearly this car is not hitting the target.
Sorry dude you're just completely off base here. People don't buy genesis products because they buy mercedes and BMW. Same reason people don't buy Cadillac. The Cadillac ats and cts were widely regarded as superior to their contemporaries for years. Yet nobody bought them. This genesis is not superior in some ways, but certainly for the price it is.
IDK sharp throttle response. Being more sensitive doesn't mean sharp. They used mapping that causes the power to come on sooner with less pedal travel, but the flip side is mashing the pedal to the floor has smaller increases in power, since it maxed out at 50% pedal travel anyway. I wouldn't call that sharp. Is that engine durable? It's still a Hyundai product. In that price range, IDK. I hear that Hyundai gives ppl a hard time about warranty repairs, which makes the 10 years warranty moot. At least the Lexus IS350 F sport lets you bounce off the rev limiter and shift how you want. I'm not excited about a Hyundai in-house trans. Do some research before talking nonsense. It's RWD biased. It will fish tail no problem. It's fun. Better than all these FWD biased BS vehicles out there. So I'll give it that.
Looked at these vs. the compatible priced 330i and A5 Sportback in April. Features wise this wins easily. Dealerships are still Hyundai and I know that’s not a deal breaker, it needs to be mentioned. Interior still isn’t as roomy as a 330i or the A5 and quality, while nice, isn’t either. Tech is very Hyundai and it’s just a hard pill to swallow knowing it’s the size of an Elantra with the same tech for twice price. Ended up with the A5 for a couple reasons and ended up being less expensive and just a bit nicer inside. Also the resale on the A5 is the best of the bunch, having owned a 3 series and A5 before. After this is facelifted it will be much more competitive!

Leased a 2020 G70 3.3t sport(dark gray) and love it. 3 things. I wish the body was a tad more aggressive, maybe some sort of body kit would help and dropped 3/4 - 1”. Power, needs to be 425, with 450 torque. Steering wheel needs to be thicker with a flat bottom. May have to just make it happen myself. :)
The G70 Dynamic AWD has Michelin Pilot Sport Summer tires and it has none of those issues your complaining about. I know because I have 1 look it up.
There isn’t a Dynamic trim here in the States, only Elite, Prestige and Sport.
@@MattMaranMotoring In Korea, they only come with PS4 tires. Those Primacys are not suitable for this car.
My Genesis G70 came with Michelin Pilot sport 4 tires.
@@genesisg7022 So did mine. The thing handles awesome.
Very good review, Matt. I think you answered all of my remaining questions on the car. You are the first reviewer I have seen that really talks about lane keep assist and it's abilities. That is one of the important features I was looking for on long trips and based on what you report, it is not quite up to the level I was hoping for.
The lane keep assist on this vehicle works very well,. This is not an autonomous driving vehicle such as a Tesla. I've driven Nissans, lexus, gm and Honda's. G70s is definitely the best, although Honda's does work very well also.
@@samzasap2594 Thanks for your input. I'll check it out further.
I think 2020 they have surpassed the German brands.
Which do you prefer? The G70 3.3T or the Acura TLX Type S???
I think the type S is better but overpriced. Both of these cars should have come in stock.
I really wanted one of these until I saw the resale value.
That comment made no sense.
When you lease a vehicle depreciation is already included.
Who purchases a new vehicle, just to get rid of it in a couple of years?
You need to get a better argument.
If your plan is to purchase a vehicle to just get rid of it in a couple of years, have you checked on the depreciation of the German vehicles?
I guess you think that we are dumb? That you can try and slip in a stupid (it's cheap) comment, boy you're an IDIOT!
We(my wife and I) own a 2006 Hyundai Tucson SUV(currently over 150K miles on it), a 2012 Hyundai Azera (over 140k miles on it)And a 2019 Genesis G70 3.3.T. (just went over 40K miles)
We also use to own a 2007 Hyundai Accent, also purchased new ( 47k on it when sold)We sold it to our oldest son after purchasing the Genesis G70.
I hope the above information answered your question about my concerns regarding resale value.
I know that it is an issue for some people.
It's just not an issue for us.
@@genesisg7022 I never said they were bad cars or unreliable. I literally was just saying that resale is bad
@@RARA-ri6fl you sure the resale value is more worse than other competitors? I hope you are right before making this comment
Looks soooi nice
Guess they changed the drive mode cycle. When I had my 2019 G70 3.3, it only saves the drive mode if you leave it on Eco mode (I think Smart mode too?). Other modes like sport and custom, itll go back to normal after you turn off your car. Beautiful car though, probably gonna get this 2020 model, used, after my current lease car ends in 2 years. The new G70 renders doesn't seem to be as good as this generation G70.
Hyundai really needs to improve the fuel economy on this engine/trans combo. I don't know if their new engine is better, but this is just terrible.
Thanks, Matt for giving us a balanced review.
I don't know why they replaced the 5.0 V8 that used to come in this with a 3.3t when they virtually got the same gas mileage. Probably just to please the government and say that it has a turbo 😔
@@carterdavis2793 G70 never came with a 5.0 V8. Only. 2.0 four or 3.3 V6. The bigger G80 and G90 can come the the 5.0
@@carterdavis2793 This never came with a V8. I think you mean the G80. Unfortunately they axed the V8 for that as well. Only the G90 still gets that NA V8.
This car is really fun to drive, brakes and tires are quite pricy though. Just be prepared for that if you get the 3.3 t. Bonus i can actually feel the speed difference between my stinger and g70. Both cars have their own feel
In what way can you feel the difference?
Road noise seems pretty loud to me.
A smaller grill looks cleaner but also very Audi-ish
If you had to choose.... Stinger or this?
See the end of the video for my Stinger thoughts :)
Stinger.
hi Matt. nice vid. liked b4 watching b/c I knew it was going to be good
The 2022 G70s now come stock with Michelin Pilots. Go figure
Can Hyundai please in the name of Zeus bring the Azera back? Please?
That's funny. I mean in strange.
We(my wife and I) own 3 vehicles that we purchased new and still own.
2006 Hyundai Tucson SUV
2012 Hyundai Azera
2019 Genesis G70
We did own a 2007 Hyundai Accent, but we sold it to our oldest son after purchasing the Genesis G70.
I still enjoy driving my Hyundai Azera. 290 HP. Pretty fast car.
The Hyundai Azera is still being sold over seas.
You should check out the videos. It's a beautiful car.
The side boomerangs are functional and dedicated manual mode is accomplished by turning off TC and SC...smh
What function do the boomerangs serve? I looked in the wheelwell and didn’t see any connection. And just about every other car lets you do manual mode without turning off all the safety systems lol.
Matt Maran Motoring they don’t vent from the wheel well, they vent from the engine bay. How functional they are is up for debate. I won’t argue with you on needing to turn everything off, I would prefer a manual gate on mine. I have quite a few issues with mine actually, as a long term owner
Thank you for the info on the vent.
Matt Maran Motoring you’re welcome. And honestly...pretty damn good review and fun to watch!
@@sleepyjordan887 what issues you have with yours ?
Nice looking car 👍
lame for separating the interior review
Plus, all my previous cars have either been sedans and coupes, so the Bronco will be a nice change of pace.
Yeah, the 6 redesign should be pretty awesome with that inline 6. Looking forward to that as well!
Looks like an infinity
The reviews seem to be great but the true gauge of how good it is is sales #’s. In one year I have seen two on the road. Clearly this car is not hitting the target.
Sorry dude you're just completely off base here. People don't buy genesis products because they buy mercedes and BMW. Same reason people don't buy Cadillac. The Cadillac ats and cts were widely regarded as superior to their contemporaries for years. Yet nobody bought them. This genesis is not superior in some ways, but certainly for the price it is.
If only it had start from the remote
that's super synthetic fake engine noise
No digital dash or flat bottom steering wheel. I will keep my RS3
I'll keep my $20k then.
You have to shift the gear lever to manual and the pedals won't shift back to D
A "premium" car that has paint showing around the window from the interior...
Do you drive and look at that?
I guess it look ugly for selfies on instagram .
Same pedals as my 2015 genesis coupe lol
I like it but not for 50k. Kudos to Kia for still pushing out sporty sedans !
why would they put those skinny ass 225's up front on a car with this much power? That may be part of the squealing problem
Revised G70 looks amazing!

To me, the grille looks very much generic like an aftermarket grille :D
Stinger looks better.
The term sport sedan is over used like hot hatch. Looks more basic than other luxury cars, may work well to replace my moms Acura.

@@jcherestal RUclips is slow slow again
I wont buy any car with those tackon monitors
365cv from a 3.3l? lol Alfa Romeo gets 510cv from a 2.9l
Lol and which one is going to be reliable due to lower pressure in the ignition chambers....oh thats right, the Genesis...the Julia wouldn't even hold up for 5 years
Kinda looks like an Alfa Romero
they have copy a lot of europen cars for this model
Front end look like newer Infinity and back look like 2010 Mercedes
4000 lbs? No thanks
Well, it is heavy compared to a mini. But for a daily driver you need something heavy to keep bumps settled a bit.
Its similar in weight to it's competition. Thats just how much these cars weigh.
