Whats happening with the SC today is frightening! The future of our country is in big trouble because of this current SCOTUS 😔
So true
My 15 yo asked me about pizzagate...she and all her friends saw it online and she was horrified. We had a discussion about media literacy that day. And about how Republicans lie about disgusting things like this to scare people into voting for them.
In addition to that, republicans do a lot of projecting. Seems to be everything they accuse anyone or group of doing, their the ones doing it.
And someone could have been injured or killed when that nut went to the pizza shop with a gun
I love the usernmae.
Yes that is SO TRUE!!!!!❤
I had always believed that the Supreme Court would follow the law. I didn't have to agree with their decision, but I hoped that they followed the law and not a political party. I no longer believe that, and changes need to be done for the court. Absolute power corrupts absolutely....Justice C Thomas. I could understand maybe once or twice with the Supreme Court benefit of doubt. Thomas should be removed just for all the monetary gains he received.
No, because you want Biden to replace him with another liberal diversity hire before he retires under Trump. Not gonna happen. Keep crying.
This is absurd. How did they not follow the law?
@@scottharrison8701 They allowed on the ballot someone who in very clear language in the constitution is forbidden from holding office, and now they are taking serious arguments that the president should be immune to ANY prosecution, effectively creating a dictator. THAT'S absurd
The judges are corrupt they twist the words of the constitution to suit their feelings, it's just the conservative judges.@scottharrison8701
Not to mention the obvious conflict of interest. Is he really so arrogant to believe he shouldn't recuse?
All judges who overturned Roe swore under oath that they wouldn't. Isn't that perjury?
It should be, and at the very least collusion and corruption. They lied to lawmakers and the American people straight to their faces.
I Think so😢
Get over it!,It was the correct legal decision. Why doesn't Bidumb and his minions try to reverse it? Bidumb ignores the SCOTUS. How you like the communism blue wave now?
They lied.. And, they knew they were lying.
These judges now in the Supreme Court are rogue judges.
These judges have no moral compass.
I love how he explains the justices should not be basing rule of law on their own morals of right and wrong. It needs to be based on the LAW not how they FEEL about the law.
If anyone would be following the law, Hilary and Biden would be in jail
...I grew up believing that is the ONLY way a judge ruled...BASED on LAW....wthell has happened????
@@sharontrujillo You grew up..? What did you expect to happen, the world to grow down?
EXCELLENT COMMENTARY!!!
That’s how law is supposed to work! TFG happened!
As a black man I will support the guy with 81 years behind him over the guy with 91 criminal charges in front of him.
Couldn’t have put it better myself 👏
How offended were you at his thinking he could court the black vote with his mug shot and spray painted sneakers?
Funny how this is the exact same profile photo as the other account called Blacks4Trump. You have a twin?
I'll take the guy with the fake charges
Thank you sir. I, as a woman will support the same man as I have a 6 year old granddaughter who should NOT have fewer rights than I have had. 🩵
Justice Stephen Breyer is alert, intelligent and takes matters very seriously. Unfortunately he is a dying breed.
I hope the latest appointed justice will be like him.
The judiciary is one of the biggest reasons to vote blue.
It was an absolutely refreshing interview. We need people like him running for office. We need more people like him in general.
@@natesboredindeed, he was compassionate, delightful, down to earth
Unfortunately, Breyer seems to believe the fantasy that there is not a corrupt antidemocratic majority in SCOTUS.
SCOTUS has proven very well that their independence is not deserved and they need a deep investigation into their actions and behind-the-scene relationships with influencers, esp. Justices Thomas and Alito.
*Now if we could only get the sitting justices to listen to Justice Breyer's reason and DO THE RIGHT THING instead of ruling only to serve their political party (rather than applying the rule of law) as they have been doing recently. Thank you Ari, great interview!*
Justice Breyer is a wonderful guest. Thanks Ari.

It was a privilege to listen to Justice Breyer. Thank you!
My thoughts exactly❤
He's brilliant! So level-headed and calm, too. Wish we could clone him.
No@@bo2.4u6
Wonderful and delightful interview with a great man! I would certainly think that Clarence Thomas has NOT served with good behavior, as Justice Breyer says are the terms of their continued service on the Court. Time for him to be investigated and be GONE.

As a European, American politics always surprises me.
Like, one side appoints well-spoken, highly regarded justices who could easily go teach at a prestigious university for an easy life, and then the other side nominates people whose most memorable quote is "i like beer"
As an American, nobody cares about Europe. Your entire continent is full of weak queefs.
That’s what we call over here, @American exceptionalism!” 🙄 In layman’s terms, the right to be illogical and senseless, where ignorance and anti-intellectualism is something about which we brag! It really exists in no other country that I know of, it’s simply astounding!
Remember that it was trump who nominate the judge that said "I like beer"
@@oliviaturner7388 Yeah, in effect or in essence, but in their thoughts and feelings I think few would assert they're being illogical and senseless, tho' many would be proud to say they're anti-intellectual. That's a key part of hypernationalist, fascist movements, which like prejudice and discrimination, are found in every country, every people. Yet the world does get better over time, at least a little bit (for those who can see how much more it could be).
The difference between Democrats and Republicans. A good justice ignores the politics.
Such a pleasure to hear considerate discourse in these very bad mannered times. Thanks Ari.
The only reason to overturn any settled case is to prevent proven ongoing harm, based on actual science or stats. These Justices overturned a law that prevented the deaths of women, for no reason but personal religious ones, therefore, unconstitutional ones, as it will lead to more women dying for no reason.
OMG I LOVE THIS JUDGE BREYER ❤🇨🇦
This is a GOOD Supreme Court Justice; one who retired when he thought it was time. Too bad all the sitting justices who should have been removed for lying in confirmation hearings (both Kavanaugh and Coney-Barrett) or for lying AND being completely BOUGHT (Justice Clarence Thomas and his "MAGA influencer" traitorous wife) are still there corrupting our SCOTUS and all it's rulings. At this point, I also think Chief Justice Roberts (and his wife) have "erred" in taking some unethical payments and liberties as well when he should be keeping the others in line. *We need to CLEAN OUT the SCOTUS!*
Overturning ROE was the extreme Catholic judges. Especially, Alito he's hated Roe since when it became law because of his religion. He is following the rules of the Catholic Church not his job of being a judge for the US.
Not everyone in this country is Catholic or religious and should not have to follow what the religious believe. It's unfair that the majority judges are making decisions for the minority and themselves instead of letting people choose for their own health. The religious SC judges are punishing women who don't follow the Catholic religion.
Excellent episode. I sure do wish we had more Justice Bryers! I always had such a respect for the Supreme Court; I was proud to take my 9yr old son to see it. Now I am completely disgusted with the Supreme Court Justices, and so are both of my grown sons.
Thank you both very much
💙💙👍👍💙💙
We need more Justice Breyers❤
❤I agree😊
Ain’t it the truth❤
He must be pretty bad then

Your indoctrination is complete!
It's so refreshing to hear an intelligent discussion between two people who aren't yelling at each other.
Great interview. What a brilliant, humble, servant!
Thanks Justice Breyer.
This man is SHARP as a tack!! What an outstanding lesson in the law and The Supreme Court and Democracy..
Samuel Chase was impeached and removed from his position as a Supreme Court Justice.
Congress has the power to impeach and remove them.
Folks start writing your Congressional Representatives and tell them to start the process of impeachment to those Justices that are failing to uphold the law regarding Presidential immunity.

Superb interview of an exceptional man! I have watched 6 interviews with Justice Breyer, & you elicited the most information! Thank you, Ari!
I listened to his Confirmation Hearings in the 90's and figured he'd be a pro-pollution obfuscating corporate hack
I heard his First Interviews: during his Confirmation Hearings. Breyer was and still is an Obfuscator. Corporate Pollution: "Maybe..." He's a Hack, too, even if he has a bit more empathy than the Fabulous Five now [ABC gets a pass so far]
Justice Breyer is an adorable smart human being. Fantastic to listen to him and to watch him. B.R.

Term limits for SC Judges now.
Yes like yesterday!

Good luck, term limits haven't even been implemented yet for senators and congressman. 🤣

I absolutely loved this interview! He was funny and a good man.
SCOTUS judges should not be chosen by Presidents, they should have been extremely good at their jobs to warrant being placed in such a position, and there should be a length of time/age limit. Politics should not be in the process of election.
“Politics and the court. No judge decides a case on the basis of the temperature of the day, but every judge is affected by the climate of the season.” Paul Froyne, Law Professor, Harvard
The attempted handshake in front of the judge and just deserves jail time, until the end of the trial. That's blatant witness intimidation.
He's also paying for her attorneys
Excellent interview, Ari.
Thank you both for the education just gave us all! ❤
Impeachment for ethic or criminal violations for SC Judges now.
If people really want to see that, they have to give Democrats a supermajority in the Senate and House.
Yes 💯!
So impeach anyone you disagree with?
Thomas, his wife was an insurrectionist.
@@josefeibl8230 That is NOT what anyone is saying, what is being said is; SCROTUS is not judging based on the Constitution; overturning Roe and the decision on Colorado ballot case are the perfect example. How can you read the 14th amendment and think otherwise. I know it's anybodies guess right now, I do have a sinking feeling that SCROTUS will make the wrong call on Presidential immunity. The corruption in the court is so blatant and overwhelming, how can anyone trust them.
That was great! Thank you both!
Excellent point what are the values? What are the values of the US Constitution? It appears to me that a few justices do not have the values required to be a justice representing the government of the US. Shameful, just as shameful those who appointed them.
Hillary was telling us how she voted against Samuel Alito as he wants a theocracy and he wants it based on his own religion!

We took our country for granted. 2016 had the lowest voter turnout in decades.

Judge Stephen Breyer, thank you for the pragmatic review of our Constitution and legal history and process. Great listen (Audible)!
Justice Breyer is such a wonderful person. So well reasoned.
Great interview! Great Judge!
The SCOTUS problem is not that it suffers from an intellectually faulty way of deciding cases. The problem is that it is a _corrupt_ court: from financial graft and hearing cases with which they have a connection, to actively intervening in an election to deny the electorate a decision before they cast their vote.
Yea they just make up whatever bs would support their decision. Half the time its not even coherent (I'm looking at Alitos opinion on overturning Roe). They know it doesn't fool anyone. They don't care. They are corrupt and love the power of ruining millions of Americans lives. It makes them feel superior and tbh, the way our system is now, they are.
Somehow they have personally evoked the strongest sense of hate ive ever had. There's something about murderers sitting on a bench acting holier than thou that particular grinds my gears. Murderers who opened the door to forcing babies to be born who cannot survive and will suffer. I put that at their feet because they knew exactly what would happen. Barrett was apparently not paying attention given how shocked she sounded about Idahos depravity. I wish the rest of us had the luxury of burying our head that far in the sand while getting to decide whatever we want for other people.
Enlightening conversation! I will watch again!
Thank you, Ari and Justice Breyer, for this great interview👏👏👏👏👏
Tell me of any WH staff members that thought any questionable action that Trump contemplated would not end well?,so why should he get immunity?

Justice Breyer is brilliant and surprisingly humorous. Very interesting insights. Too bad Breyer retired when he did.
Term limits are one thing but important imo to review the confirmation process and an enforceable code of conduct for judges. It's so important that people in these roles are impartial and not corrupt

Wonderful and inspiring.
Giving anyone a job in such an important role as the Supreme Court for life is totally ridiculous. There must be a certain length of tenure with the possibility of renewal depending on their actions and they ought to be elected by the government, the people.
Trump only wants loyalty. Not competence.
