- Now that President Biden and Donald Trump have accepted invitations to two televised debates, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell explains why the audience at home might not hear President Biden comment on any of Donald Trump’s criminal cases. Lawrence explains that President Biden is a “more careful lawyer than Richard Nixon” who nearly caused a mistrial when then-President Nixon publicly declared Charles Manson guilty of murder during the Manson trial in 1970.

There are formal rules for every kind of game or contest. However, debate is one contest that needs more formal structure and fundamental modifications that, if studied and engaged in properly, would produce not only better debaters, but superlative thinkers as well.

The moderator has to be assertive and confident enough to simply cut off Trump's mic when his time is up. Otherwise, as Lawrence O'Donnell said "good luck with that". Choose a moderator that can control the debate and don't let Trump ramble. CUT THE MIC when his time is up! Don't get run over by Trump.
All questions about the charges against Trump should be off the table. Should be policy topics only, with Trump facing breaking his gag orders and contempt of court if he wanders into talk about the court cases, witnesses, jurors, court officials, etc.
