There's just something about this guy that I really enjoy. He's relaxed, gives fair reviews, is informative, and he makes corny jokes which I appreciate. Keep the vids coming, I can't tell you how many items I've bought without any hesitation after watching your reviews 👍
Rickey Koga he’s a dad, he can’t help the dad jokes.
He has a cool personality and seems like the type of guy who’d be a great neighbor. Hell if I lived in Vegas I’d probably be more like that too!
@@GeddyRC va0
im not a dad yet and i love 🌽 ny jokes tbh 😂
He's just legit. That's the main appeal for me
He isn't screaming, he isn't blaring generic royalty free music, he isn't trying to sell me things every second of the video. He's just making videos, and I can appreciate that.
Most of these cutters just make you think - Why use these "gadgets", when knife is faster and easier.
I think much of the time the cutting gadgets are for people with one hand or don’t have good dexterity. I love this channel but idk why he doesn’t explain that many of the stupid products are really just meant for a specific person
Folks with disabilities and dexterity issues are a good demographic for these gadgets. That includes older folks and people with arthritis
Ok binging with babish watcher
The best item that i've every bought is a super sharp paring knife. I remember slicing my fingers just trying to get it out of the packet.I use it for everything now.. I can understand some kitchen gadgets though because i have a hard time opening cans and jars, due to arthritis.
Honestly for the most part, I agree. BUT..... I have a gadget that I LOVE. It is so basic but I love it, it is a strawberry slicer (though you can use it on more). It resembles the old egg slicer. I honestly use it all the time and it hasn't dulled yet in 2 years!
I wonder how many people out there have cupboards full of gadgets that they have used once or twice.
Dude, when i rented a room from my uncle, i talked him out of buying all kinds of shit that i know he would only use like once, maybe twice a year. I had to after he bought a snow cone maker...in winter... and then used it the day it arrived and sat up on a shelf all summer long without any use. I don't live with him anymore, but the last thing i talked him out of is a fucking hotdog roller, like the ones they have in gas stations that would have taken up over half his counter in his kitchen. The dude already only ate hotdogs like twice every two months, wouldn't use the stove or the microwave to cook them, and would only cook them outside on the grill.
I have a few oddball items in my kitchen but they get rotation on a weekly (at most monthly) basis. I have a tool that's made for washing rice, that's it. It sort of looks like a fancy mixing spoon, except it has an agitator on one end and a strainer tool along the handle. I cook a lot of rice (am Japanese) and use it often. I guess weird tool use just might depend on your lifestyle or cultural background.
One for sure: James Freakin White!
Alton Brown would be disappointed of these single-taskers.
I’ve got a few in my cupboard lol. I was having a sort out in my kitchen yesterday and I found four that I had forgot about. Lol
I have literally no interest in buying these products... I love this channel.
Come for the reviews, stay for James.
Same for me, he has a good voice. He has changed the channel a lot since his wife was in some of the videos.
I would never buy the stuff he shows, but i still see every video he makes, and enjoying them a lot 👻👋🏻🔆
I want those spoons that don't touch the counter - nothing else. He didn't review, but showed them. What were they called?
@@VirtanenDK I didn’t realize his wife was ever in the videos. What happened there, is he still married? I think I just assumed he was a single/divorced or widowed or something. It doesn’t matter either way, if it isn’t public knowledge I don’t need to know.
What you mean some of them products are cool 😎
"Oh no! I got a drippy spoon!" Exactly what the inventor of the Kitchen Utensil Rest thought before the lightbulb went on. 😁
The chef wizard is just a 'jack of all trades, master of none.'
Me reading text on the Unilid: "Not a toy"
You: *bongos*
I don't know why but those lids remind me of the swimming caps we had to wear in the swimming pools when I was a young child. 😁
Kitty Truitt: Love it!
applying it reminds me of putting a fitted sheet on a mattress
I just liked "Hi-yah!" It's the little things that make you happy.
Don't own one, but the way you'd clean a zip slicer is with a bottle cleaning brush.
That's what I was saying, when he said it was hard to clean! 😁
Sized more for slicing boiled eggs
Bottle scrubbers are good for lots of things
i feel like maybe the zip slicer would be good for strawberries
They should come with the brush. If it doesn't that's a complaint
I would love that unilid in more of a square shape. In a family where we have a bunch of Tupperware but no tops, it would be perfect 😂
Circles that flimsy may square off.
Try silocone lid. Square and circle are mixed.
Aren’t Tupperwares round??
Some are round, square, or rectangle.
@@jack-of-all-trades1420 thank you! I just searched them up and they're exactly what I need
James, thanks for making quarantine better with your constant videos.🙌🏾🙌🏾
A lot of “as seen tv” products are made for people with disabilities, like the grape slicer. They market them to everyone though as they make more money that way
Except that this slicer doesn't work. See my previous comment to see a cost free, easy way to cut these fruits.
Why would you want grapes cut?
@@G_Robb If you have small children, whole grapes are a choking hazard and its recommended to cut them up.
@@beverlyf6603 Ok, learned something new. Thanks! Good thing my two kids didn't really like grapes when they were small.
This is true!
11:08 I love how he couldn't resist to turn it into a drumming session. Cuz I would've done the same, so for me, that's a very thorough review, showing irresistible drumming potential and all.
I remember in the old Chef Wizard commercial where they showed it getting items out of jars like pickles and olives.
I use the utensil rest for my brushes when I am painting!
We had chef wizards when I was younger, then again I’m in my twenties to I’m still pretty young. The metal portion was so weak that we gave up and used tongs, I only picked it up for vary fragile things like fried eggs or cheese ravioli
Omg, I totally forgot we had those too growing up in the nineties....whatever happened to ours lol
I can’t believe they still sell that Chef Wizard. It’s quite junky and doesn’t last long. Just a junk drawer filler.
Utensil rest, I could use that for paint brushes more than cooking spoons!
No Ned! Just a candy dish! $90!
Great idea, Danielle!
When I see a product on tv in a commercial or in a store I sometimes take a chance & buy but the ones I’m unsure about I look him up & he does a review for me. I’m reviewing while he is & I’m glad he’s here to help us. He’s awesome at doing this too.
I actually have the 4-slot utensil rest in my kitchen. I grew up with everyone having one in their kitchen so I needed one, and I like it. Much easier to clean that a ceramic one like my mom has, and I like that we can put multiple utensils in one area instead of having them all over the counter.
For the grapes, sandwich them in between two small flat plates and run a knife through the middle. Your top hand would be on the plate so the cutting risk is low.
Most of these "easy gadgets" are intended for people with some kind of disability and still want to maintain their independence.
Who cuts grapes anyway?
@@johnv6806 a lot of people do it for babies to help prevent choking
@@johnv6806 Hi! My Mother-in-law cut grapes for several of her recipes. “The Waldorf Astoria chicken salad”, the “Green Jell-O Thing”, and this other salad with lettuce and stuff I can't remember what it's called.
I wish when I had the opportunity I would have asked her to teach me how to cook, and gotten copies of her recipes. Foolish youth, thinking she'd be around forever.
May she rest in peace, 1927-1998.
Grapes, cherry tomatoes, olives... You can also use 2 lids from cottage cheese/sour cream/deli containers.
Unilid is absolutely perfect and exactly what I've been looking for so I dont have to use clingfilm!
Also I'm pretty sure most cans so not to cover the can once opened and to emptying into a non metallic container.
Cans oxidise very quickly once opened
I have the lids in a bigger set and love them! Round and square ones with no dials I the middle. I just got the zip slicer. Excited to try it!
I have a different brand and I basically use it for dog can food or small can of salsa, the bigger ones I’ve barely use, mine don’t have a dial in the middle. The small ones I use a lot while camping and they’ve stayed put in the cooler therefore there’s no contamination from dog food etc. leaking watery gunk all over the cooler.
Thanks for answering my question, sir! Appreciate the answer completely as a content creator myself. Great video as always, looking forward to the next one!
I have never in my life cut a Grape in half for any reason. So that tool makes no sense to me.
agreed. the point of a grape or a cherry tomato is that it is bite sized.
For toddlers you got to cut the grapes in half.
I cut grapes in slices for mixed green salads, chicken salad, fruit salad, some Mediterranean savory dishes, a pork chop that’s made with some fruits...it’s definitely a thing.
I would never do anything but cut them with a knife though.
Bailey was still looking for that lizard. Great video...again.
Haha yeah, every day.
That's a big beautiful wall there! I like the tree too...
enjoy the reviews of stuff I wouldn't think would work at all.
Spleens,huh 🌚
My husband and I really enjoy and appreciate your videos, they're a very interesting mix of informative and entertaining! I was happy to see you mention Amazon sellers buying in bulk at ultra cheap prices from overseas just to mark up and resell on Amazon. More people should be aware of how common that tactic is.
I don’t know why, but I drop everything I’m doing, as soon as I get a Freakin Reviews notification!
The Chef Wizard: Jack of all trades, master of none.
Thank you for brightening my day and always bringing a smile to my face.
I enjoy relaxing and watching your reviews. I find them very helpful.
And, you always seem to do or say something that makes me laugh, and for that, I thank you.
Also, I like the Q & A. Very nice closure to the video. Thanks!
I love your reviews! We appreciate you ❤
A can size lid, that’s something I would grab for. I feel a can size should be in every pack they sell.
you know what I just realized - cat food lids will probably fit regular sized cans
@@evademonique -- I've seen cat food lids that fit more than one size can.
You shouldn't store food in aluminum cans. Most are plastic lined so it's ok, but it's not a good practice.
@@joa8593 dont cans oxidise when opened?
Are the poach pods very different than a silicone cupcake mold? I feel like if you already own some of those, they could be dual purpose.
Also, canned goods are still fine for a reasonable amount of time past their best by date as long as there is no dents, bulging, or rusting going on.
A lot of these "as seen on tv" items are actually originally designed for the disabled and elderly. But if that was their only market it would be hard to break even, let alone turn a profit.
The zip slice, poacher cups, and chef wizard reviewed in this video all stick out to me as being for people with troubles using traditional utensils.
I thought he made up the “Teriyaki Madness” logo to avoid any blowback from Panda Express ...then I looked it up
I'm never this early. I love your reviews. Your opinion keeps me from throwing money away. THANK YOU!
You're not technically supposed to leave leftovers in open cans... something about leeching chemicals or toxicity.
Reaction between the metal of the can and the acidity in the food. Many cans are now lined to prevent this from happening.
The poach pods are a decent option for cooking eggs in the microwave (although you must cover them loosely) if you have limited cooking facilities and pans. I came across them while staying with a friend as we were both moving between countries and most of our belongings were packed up. It wasn’t haute cuisine, but it made a nice change for breakfasts.
Great review! I got those resealable bottle top things for cans years ago; never could get one on a can lol
The chef wizard has been around for years! No clue how it has lasted! The lids aren’t new either, I have a set that do not have the plastic disc on top!
I happen to enjoy your reviews! Keep up the great work!
Man you’re such a genuine and great RUclips creator keep up the great content
For cutting grapes and cherry tomatoes and whatever, it's a lot easier to just put the grapes etc. between two plates (the one on top turned upside down), and then run a chef knife between them. Perfectly cut in half, and there they already are on the plate too.
Another great video...thanks for doing these! I love kitchen gadgets and I have a friend who also loves them too. So glad that you're getting outside and enjoying the nice weather. Stay safe and keep these great videos coming!
The video quality looks amazing! Always love watching your reviews ☺️
The small lid in the 3-pack is probably for large tomato-size cans
With the utensil holder I'd be worried about cross contamination the most. I still prefer to use those silicon spoon rests, even though it takes up more space.
I really enjoy your reviews so just letting you know you are appreciated and your time spent on making them is not wasted at all! 👍🏻
I totally get the comments section on items. What its rating most of the time is the seller and its grouped "kitchen" items they sell.
Also those reviews I have found ratings proven to be fake reviews made by the company itself to boost their selling.
The reviews are likely "bought". They contact people to "buy" stuff (you buy, they pay you back) with the expectation you review them. I've done a few, luckily I pick products I know I like, and can honestly review well - I get pinged for beauty, and I stick to nail polish and the like.
Jo Luffman how do you get contacted by these companies??
There's an app that checks for those kinds of reviews. "Check Meta Reviews"
Jacob Pedersen I don't know. I had an email, and since they wanted to use Paypal, I decided to bite. After all, I could return Amazon stuff or chargeback if I had to.
Hey James! Love the channel and the thorough reviews! Have you ever thought about reviewing the Magic Mesh magnetic screen? I still see the advertisement from time to time.
When I moved cross country three years ago,I threw out dozens of kitchen items
18:23 them tomatoes are or were still good quite a lot of tinned foods last WAY past their expiration dates and in times like these having food that last quite a while is a great thing.
Zip slicer could butterfly cut a hot dog. Or a hot dog cut.
or other hot dog shaped items
I have a fake one... i know what I'm doing tomorrow 🤪
Freakin’ Reviews I love the content you put out, keep up the great work stay safe from the quarantine.
What I like about the utensil rest is you could use it, wash it, shake it off, and then use it to let your now clean utensils dry
I need the poach pod! TFS 😊
Your backyard looks like an awesome Zoom background!
Hey I didn't know you were from Jacksonville. I've always been intrigued by as seen on TV products about as long as I can remember and been watching your channel for a while now. Reppin the 904! Can I get a DUUUUUUUVAAAAAAAAL!! :P
So glad someone else posted a big DUUUUVAAALLL, i was about to hahaha
I bought a few of the gadgets and pans you rated - and they rock like you had said they did! Thanks for this - keep up the great work!!!!
Just started watching your page... absolutely love it!!! Keep up the great content!
Re: Lid Covers - Don't leave food in Cans!!!
Dangerous, I can't believe how many ppl do that.
Why not?

I love my lids. I took a permanent marker & ran it over the days of the week . It definitely helped.
Do they stretch out over time? I was wondering about that when he was reviewing them, they actually seem useful =)
Firsona I’ve had them for 6 months, I put them through the dishwasher every time & so far they are as good as they were from day 1. It took me a couple of try’s to get them on correctly, it’s better to practice with something that doesn’t contain liquid, I was afraid I’d splash it. But once you get the hang of it there’s no problem
It looks like they'd stack better if they were "burped"? Seems to have a lot of air trapped in them.
Jeandiata Smith How do you burp them? Just curious. Thanks.
Also meant to tell you how much I enjoy your videos and they have even ,occasionally, saved me money. Thank you.
I love your kitchen related item reviews. Makes for good dinner watching.
James I like the glasses!’ You look very handsome!!😎
Your always very entertaining. I like that! Keep it up my friend!!😃✌️
John Lennon style
I have the utensil rest I love it. I wish I’d gotten an 8 slotter. Silicone, easy to clean.
I once accidentally used a can of tomatoes that were expired by over 6 years. They were fine.
Amazon appears to be better now. I've had 2 deliveries come before the estimated time this week. One 1-2 days and one standard. Headphones and an Xbox controller so nothing essential.
For real, you would make a great writer. You're naturally communicative, and that's what it takes to be a writer.
I actually bought two items based on your reviews: the round collapsible stool and the thin wallet. The wallet was the biggest surprise. At first I was put off by the card holding position, but now I like it. The stool is something I use every day at the stable. It's very handy and it's compact size is great. I wish it was a little taller, though. Thanks for the reviews!
Got here 37 min in! Feels weird to see his videos at 1.7k views 😂😂😂
I actually love your shades. I would wear those as I like things are odd-ball/different.
I like the kitchen videos cause you always see some cameos from other kitchen gadgets. Which is nice to know most of aren't just one and done and tossed in storage.
I was interested to hear how you moved here. Thanks for spending the time you do making these, and remaining productively busy during the new swing of things. Always enjoy your consistently good reviews and banter. Thanks!
NOTE: Airtight =/= Watertight
Air is a hell of a lot harder to contain than water!
ok
"That's what she said" 1:10 😆
"You have to have massive grapes to not have them move around in there". Couldnt agree more.
Definitely getting some poach pods. I just don't poach enough eggs to be extremely skilled at it. Don't apologize for sitting outside. I was supposed to be in Vegas last weekend for my husband's soccer tournament, and your backyard is the closest I'll probably get this year.
I love these little gadget reviews! I'm a sucker for stuff like that!
I wonder how well those silicone bowl covers hold up in the freezer, like if you made a batch of lasagna and wanted to freeze it, would they protect the food from freezer burn?
I suggest that Bailey make an appearance in the next video!
I'll see what I can do!
I enjoy watching your reviews to see the gadgets in action. When demonstrating the unilid you are demonstrating its water-tightness not its air-tightness but still a great video. :)
I love your channel... I love your reviews... You have a great personality, it's calming and soothing to me. Also really enjoy watching when your kids review with you and let's not forget Bailey :)
I'm guessing we won't be seeing another Wish episode for a long time lol
I sure hope not...makes a difference to know that most of those cheap items were knockoffs from regular items, with “stealing” the tech, etc. I used to look at them with amusement, not any more.
Got here early (3 minutes after upload), what comments am I supposed to read?
Your videos are always great. Thanks for making them!
Poach pods: I can see how those could come in handy. I'm not great at making poached eggs the "traditional" way, but for the rare times that I do make them, I have an old-school egg poacher that is basically a tray that holds two aluminum cups (for the eggs) above a pan of water, and covered with a lid. The result is quite similar to the poach pods.
Got here at 2 mins, never gotten that early!
Quarantine has been rough hey? Haha
@@PantonePapi I'm actually at work LMFAO just got here and opened RUclips 😂
7 views, 7 likes. RUclips's not drunk today!
I've had a chef wizard for years, i use it in my rv trailer.... yes it is very limited but it worked when i wanted it for.. wisk it was flat vs the typically rounded wisk, and salad tongs. Saved space most important in a trailer.
I watch this every night so I can fall asleep. I've done this for about 2 months now. I can't sleep without his voice and I can't stay wake if I listen to him
Minor criticism on the Uni-Lid review: As a review channel I kind of expect you to get the big pack for a proper review instead of grabbing the small one and only testing half the available lids. Aside from that: Nice video, as always :)
You can get the idea from testing just one. No one wants to spend 10 minutes watching every size being tested. Would get repetitive.
You just like saying “ jostle” a lot, don’t you?
You have a really great channel, straight forward reviews without the extra boring fluff.
Most of these items people use them once or twice and then forgot about them.
Great review!
Those pan-fried ravioli aren't "pirogi" in the slightest. Somebody lied to you.
Sweet, I'll try that tube next time I need to cut grapes... Which is never. Grapes fit into your mouth perfectly.
Talking about the chef wizard, This is why professions like mechanics and machinist have a tool specifically for every job because multi use tools are never really great at any one task. They simply can preform the task half assed.
More great reviews! :) The spoon rest thing & lids are probably the only ones I would try too. Tyfs! Stay safe. Should be opened up by now, right?
AFAIK "As seen on TV" kitchen gadgets fall into 3 categories, useful, "a solution looking for a problem" and "doesn't work at all".
15:01 love from Poland 🇵🇱❤️ didn't expect to see my classic national dish on here 😂
Btw I love the way you pronounce "pierogi"
I have the chef wizard and love it, it is good at getting into the corner of a pan when you are whisking thick gravy or pudding. To pick things you have to get them up higher onto the whisk. I use it for every thing like picking up frying hot dogs or chicken. I love your videos.Thank you..
I know you're probably sick of reviewing pillows. But I just saw an advertisement for an actively cooled pillow. It's called Moona. I think it works similarly to the bedjet but I'm not sure. Would love to see you try it
