In my family, food gets put on plates to grab when people are ready to eat. As for me, dinner is usually cooked a tad too early for me so it ends up sitting. I also used to work second shift and would come home to a plate of food already ready for me. This plate has it's uses, just might be specific.
Like if u need something like this ure probably making more toast then u will eat right away maybe like for a party or smth For that i feel like its too small and it should be square for more space efficiency
I like the butter gadget. I always slice a whole stick with a knife and leave it in its unwrapped wrapper and leave in the butter compartment but this all in one gadget will probably keep it fresher. Its totally calling my name. Lol. Thanks a lot, now I've been influenced to buy this lol.
I’ve been looking for a can opener that doesn’t require twisting my wrist. Even if it doesn’t work for small cans, I will be putting it on my wishlist!
Both my mom & I have Arthritis, the swing-a-way can opener is so effortless it makes opening a can a breeze. In my opinion, it is, & always will be the best. They haven't changed for some 50 years, & the bottle opener works great!
An electric can opener is the way to go. $25 will get you the excellent Hamilton Beach model. The lid cutting part pops off for easy washing, too. And for jar lids: a $10 Jar Key is the best invention. Zyliss makes a great tool for ring pop tops.
Always listen to your advice on new products. Bought the Bella Slim Toaster as a matter of fact and love it. And for 20 bucks its a steal. Thanks for the tip.🙂
I use paper plates for grilled cheese. Paper seems to absorb the moisture. I would be interested in the can opener if it was in the $10-15 dollar range, and opened all can sizes, but $25 is too much in my opinion. That master opener looks really handy. I have strength issues and it looks like the jar opener would be really helpful. Nice reviews as always!
The butter dish would be more suited to us over in the UK as we don't have sticks of butter just blocks so the centre wire would cut ours long ways as well as cross ways
I dont think you understand the significance of a pat of butter in the US... a 4x sized one would defeat the purpose. You can also buy big blocks of butter here too , but why
@@jamesfahy2935 😂 I work in Morrisons and a woman asked me if I had any diced onions and I said no but I can show you where the knives and the onions are 😂
You can get blocks of butter here as well but most people don't buy them preferring sticks. professional bakers and cooks usually use blocks for easier measuring out larger quantities of butter.
The characters on the butter cutter box look Japanese, and I've seen these things on several Japanese home product videos. Their butter usually comes in blocks that are twice the width of the sticks we use, so it's the perfect size. As for the plate, I have no room in my cabinets for a single-purpose kind of item.
I just use a normal bottle opener* to loosen jar lids. * the little metal kind with the pointy part on one end to punch cans, and the round end to remove bottle caps. The butter dish was cool, though. Sandwich plate, eh. Thanks!
Bailey heard the call of Bush's baked beans - So adorable. I genuinely think my mom might like that Dopener, or maybe something similar that has that two-handed can-opening crank function, plus the pull-lid lever. She gets along just fine, but grip + twisting motions are difficult due to her arthritis.
Grilled cheese sandwich hack. cut it half diagonally and then prop it up on the cut ends so it makes two little triangles. It keeps the sides off the bottom of your plate so they don’t get soggy and you don’t need anything else to do it.
I bought the master opener on your recommendation. Worked so good that I bought several more for gifts. Here's a trick: If you have a hard time twisting your wrist to use it opening a can, just hold the spinner tight and use the handle as a lever instead, almost like a ratcheting wrench. Works great.
All you need to do for the grilled cheese sandwich is to place two knives, spoons or forks on the plate under the sandwich, before or after you cut it, because all you need to do is allow some air flow under the bottom slice of bread to keep moisture from building up.
I am waiting for the machine that just allows me to say what I want and it somehow just whips it up to my liking. LOL They had one of them back in the 1970's on the TV show Space 1999! The grilled cheese did look good. The can opener looked like exercise.
Who lets a grilled cheese sit long enough to get soggy lol. The only way I see this being useful is if you're doing a bunch of grilled cheeses and don't want the first couple to get soggy before the last couple are done. But if that's the case, just use a cookie cooling rack, it's bigger to hold more sandwhiches and likely costs less lol.
I live in Sweden and i don't know anyone who cuts their butter. We get it in a tub and use a butterknife to scrape theright amount off. Only time I cut butter is if i buy a big block for baking.
I have the same master opener except in blue. Had for 15 years. I love mine it never gets dirty. Not once did I used soap and water on. Opens every can. Stick with what I have but thanks for the demo 😊
Love the ever toast plate concept! I'm completely grossed out by sweaty toast and bread; I'm always leaving toast in the toaster or propping it up on things to allow the steam to get away from the crispy toasted surface. Plus, those ridges could help contain things like olives, cherry tomatoes, pickles, and grapes.
James, just FYI, there is a special spot under the rim of a jar built in just for prying. It is at the end of the threads where they cut off. You will find a space that is a little roomier in order to fit a prise, such as a case knife or spoon handle, to lever with. Works well most of the time. 🙂
I saw the a butter slicer container at Walmart like one in video. I was like hope you do a review on this product. Glade to see its work, because I was 50/50. I was afraid the metal slicer part would break with one use or over time. Can wait to see how this holds up over time.
4:50 Honestly the butter would slice itself if you let it come up to temperature while sitting on the wires. Gravity can be a useful tool. Problem is warmed/softened butter tends to smear and stick more. 14:00 That's a jar opener for home-canning type jars (Ball Mason jars).
Any crispy food hack ? - Fry food crispy because it have low moisture. - Hot fry food steam because water don't getting out fast enough. - put it on flat surface it will become soggy because water can't escape. To prevent soggy best option is cooling rack. But anything that not flat can also work.
For toasty items i just use a plate with a slight lip and rest a corner on the lip and another on the base until it goes from hot to warm. Works well enough
To put a toasted sandwich on a plate place a piece of kitchen roll on the plate before the sandwich, when you open the butter, and it's soft is the time to put it in the butter dish then store in the fridge, the master opener is the best hand held tin opener in the world and lasts and lasts and lasts for years.
I have always used a plant for my grilled cheese sandwich and it never got wet. If you toast the bread before you melt the cheese it will stop it from getting wet. It's the butter and cheese that makes it soggy. Toasting the bread makes it less spongy. I always toast my bread first and use a little butter and cheese. Put it on a napkin for a while to soak up the extra moisture before putting it on a plate. Just like fried chicken and fries you need to drop them so they are less greasy. Oil is in the butter and cheese.
I can't find it anywhere at the moment but the company GoodCook makes a 7in1 can/bottle opener that has ALL the features of your black one, except the turn handle is on the side (vertical rotating) for ease of use
I have that “master opener” I bought from OVC years ago - it’d made by Kuhn Ricon and is excellent - wouldn’t use anything else! My hand strength has diminished as I’ve gotten older but I still dint have a problem with using it to open any can!
I bought it after watching the review on this channel. It should be noted that it cuts a safe edge which is perfectly fine as long as you don't need to use the lid to drain the can like with tuna.
You did the French butter bell review. I bought it immediately after watching your review and have loved it ever since. I think I might buy the butter gadget just in case I forget to fill the butter bell. Great review as always. Didn't see Bailey, hope she's still doing ok.
As a european, it's funny for me to see the difference between butter sizes. Here in France, butter sticks are the same size as the butter slicer you reviewed.
I have a cookie cooling rack that I'll use for hot sandwiches/ pancakes or waffles. I just let it cool enough on there to not make condensation on the plate, then serve.
I bought a rectangle shaped Nordic Ware for 7 bucks at Fred Myer and it does the same thing. It's the ribs keeping the majority of the food off the plate that does it. Do you put the yellow cutting grid aside while using the cut butter until needed?
I don't think I would use the jar opener unless I was using what is in the jar all at once. Would a bent lid close as tight as it should if you don't use it all?
If the plate was a little cheaper, I’d consider since I’m usually cooking and plating food for multiple residents at my care home. It is a bit small so I would more likely use a cooling rack. If it’s microwaveable, I might use to make bacon (personally, I prefer to use an actual oven). But it is nice for smaller batches of food, though I could actually use a microwave bacon tray where it lays flat but allows the grease to drip.
We did something like you did, in your video, with our grilled cheese sandwich 🥪 in which you used the Evertoast plate. We instead used a microwavable plate and it worked great too.
I'm a bit hooked on that butter cutting case. Having nice, even slices to freeze would be nice. Put a fork on your regular plate and place your toast on top of it. Same effect as the Ever toast and no need for extra plates that only fit one purpose.
A friend of mine introduced me to variation of a grilled cheese sandwich which includes brown sugar. All you do is add a thin layer of brown sugar on top of the cheese and cook it as you normally would. After trying this recipe, this is the ONLY way I make my grilled cheese sandwiches. I absolutely love the way it tastes with brown sugar!
I got an electric can opener for $13.99 at Walmart, and it's worked great. We'll see how long it holds up, every one of the side open can openers I've ever had is broken within a year or two.
The Dopener looks like it might be a bit easier to use if one has arthritis in their hands. It's too bad that there's problems with small cans, the jar opener doesn't work well and the ring pull has problems. The Master Opener that in in our household is a bit tough for me to turn, but easy for my spouse. Just a possible thing to consider.
The can opener seems to be better if you have mobility problems with your hands like my grandmother who is in her 90’s and has arthritis and has issues with grip especially with anything that involves using opening and closing her hands or her requires thumb involvement. The jar key seems to be less than good on it, but if you have a 99p or 99c jar key too it’s not too much of an issue.
The butter dish, with the center wire cutter would be good to at least partially cube the butter if you center the sticks of butter over it. Maybe could send the stick through again to actually cube it more going in a different direction?
A couple times during the jar opening, I was like "oooh, I really wish he was wearing safety glasses," because you know that blue thing will eventually break and bounce...Love the butter thing...I don't get the need for the evertoast plate. If I were to end up having that much trouble and trauma over grilled cheese bottoms, there are many things in my kitchen to help without buying something new - a cooling rack, a divided plate, a cup, etc. I've never had toast by itself get soggy. Maybe worth it for frozen pizza, I guess, but cooling rack works there, too.
Your wife must be thrilled to come into the kitchen and find all these products open and wonder what meal you are going to make to use them before they go bad. 🤣
You might already have these in your kitchen, but here's a cheap life hack for the first prodoct: use a few chopsticks on the plate to lift it off the plate. You can also use a small metal wire trivet like the ones made for steaming or putting in airfryers. Or you can just eat the sandwich right away if you're cooking for yourself. If I'm cooking for the family, they're already at the table with plates in hand...first come first serve. I like the butter wire slicer...although instead of plastic case I'd rather have a normal ceramic holder with flat wood bottom where you can remove the ceramic lid, and take a knife to slice a piece off as needed...unless you're making pancakes for the family to use all at once or use butter very regularly, I'd rather have the butter as one solid piece until needed to prevent oxidation which would be much quicker as smaller pieces.
Another alternative to the plate.... If you have a small slow cooker, just put the roasting rack that comes with your slow cooker on your plate under the sandwich.
If I'm making a big batch of grilled cheese sandwiches, I typically rotate the ones already done (but still too hot for little kids) so one side doesn't get soggy. That's what's worked for me for twenty years.
If your grilled cheese actually sticks around long enough to get soggy, all you need to do to prevent it is flip the sandwich over and put it on a different part of the plate every minute or two while it's still hot enough to be steaming -- typically just once or at most twice, in my experience!
Seems like if toast sweat is really an issue for you, you could easily solve the problem with any number of objects that may already be in your kitchen: a couple of chopsticks or bamboo skewers, a Mason jar ring, a sushi mat, a taco stand, an air fryer trivet, a kickstand made by sticking a toothpick in the center of the sandwich so that it sits on the plate at an angle instead of flat, or, you know, a napkin.
Putting a napkin or paper towel under your hot sandwiches works very well. And you can cut them on it too. I also use a napkin on plates for hot cookies or pastries.
My sandwich doesn't sit around long enough for it to require a special plate.
Exactly! How long does it take to eat a grilled cheese? Also I'm usually dipping my grilled cheese in soup anyway 🤭
It's for when you microwave stuff
In my family, food gets put on plates to grab when people are ready to eat. As for me, dinner is usually cooked a tad too early for me so it ends up sitting.
I also used to work second shift and would come home to a plate of food already ready for me.

grilled cheese hack - use a couple chopsticks to rest your sandwich on instead of buying a stupid plate

First time, thank you.
That's cool, the plate. I make adult grilled cheese but I was having this problem. Thanks gif the review!
The butter dish, with the center wire cutter would be good to at least partially cube the butter if you center the sticks of butter over it. Maybe could send the stick through again to actually cube it more going in a different direction?
I like the butter cutter. Simpke, cheap, and useful.
The fact you didn't flip the grilled cheese to put "cold" side on plate is the true test. That's what I do to keep it crunchy.
I really like the butter slicer 😊
A couple times during the jar opening, I was like "oooh, I really wish he was wearing safety glasses," because you know that blue thing will eventually break and bounce...Love the butter thing...I don't get the need for the evertoast plate. If I were to end up having that much trouble and trauma over grilled cheese bottoms, there are many things in my kitchen to help without buying something new - a cooling rack, a divided plate, a cup, etc. I've never had toast by itself get soggy. Maybe worth it for frozen pizza, I guess, but cooling rack works there, too.
Your wife must be thrilled to come into the kitchen and find all these products open
and wonder what meal you are going to make to use them before they go bad.
I like the butter wire slicer...although instead of plastic case I'd rather have a normal ceramic holder with flat wood bottom where you can remove the ceramic lid, and take a knife to slice a piece off as needed...unless you're making pancakes for the family to use all at once or use butter very regularly, I'd rather have the butter as one solid piece until needed to prevent oxidation which would be much quicker as smaller pieces.
lol! I have used the squiggly part of crazy straws to elevate my grilled cheese off the plate for years to keep it from getting soggy!
LOL!!! I have used thick chopsticks to elevate toast/G.C./pizza...etc for decades!!! 58 year old kitchen MacGyver here! 😅😜
I needed some good can openers!! Yay 😁
Another alternative to the plate....
If you have a small slow cooker, just put the roasting rack that comes with your slow cooker on your plate under the sandwich.
The butter one is pretty cool. Now just need one for blocks of cheese!
13:15 I think someone is going to enjoy some chili later LOL
Does the master opener work for both hands you just showed right handed. Just wondering
I've got a great replacement for the evertoast that I've been using for years. I present you the paper towel.
First he had a bad take on Kimmel and now he's reviewing kitchen gadgets on youtube...Burr's not doing good this week 🤣
