    Interesting to hear the differences of the designers' interpretations of some of the same amps. I'm old but spent decades playing and touring. I recently decided to record some material, and digital recording is new to me. I don't want to add hundreds of plugins, so I'm researching. I'd guess playing different guitars through the same sim sound different like if one was playing actual guitars through different amps, but I don't know where the digital tech world takes over for the actual physical tone of an instrument. A mahogany 50s Les Paul with humbuckers or P90s sure sounded different through the same Marshall 50 or Fender Twin than a Strat or Tele (much less each other) when I played. Thanks for doing the video. I have my favorites, but that's just opinion. The AmpLion popped Vox when it hit that sim, and different sims obviously weren't listed.

      Thank you for sharing this. That’s great to know. I know a few people that have been using redcurrant as their main amp now for heavier styles of music. I think if they gave you more options for the skin, it would catch on even more. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Keep creating! .👊👍

    There's some good stuff here, but for me, to truly class something as "freeware", it has to be a completely free product, and not a stripped down version. A lot of these are more like "demo versions" to me.

    Thanks for sharing these. I have a lot of them already and Ignite Emissary is the best sounding one to me - I can't believe that it's free! I'm definitely going to try the rest. For anyone who has the money and is looking for an "all-in-one" amp, pedal, cabinet sim, the Overloud TH-U is incredible. Tons of great sounding sims that are well worth the money, especially if you can get it on sale!

I installed the Amplitube 5 from this video. The standalone comes up, but I really want to use it in cakewalk. The plugins are not showing up in cakewalk. I did a scan in cakewalk and it seems to see it. I installed both the VST and VST3. There was no VST2 option. Could you tell me how you have it configured in Cakewalk?

    I downloaded Boogex when you mentioned it in another video (pretty sure it was one of yours), but it keeps crashing and knocking out all of the plugins because "sandboxing failed". Have you had this problem with it? It's definitely when I run that particular plugin, I've experimented and it's the culprit. On Waveform 11.

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  3 года назад +1

      I haven’t had that problem with Boogex and I’ve been using it since Windows XP days. But all computers are different so maybe it has some sort of conflict on yours.

      @@AudioTechTV Yeah, I just thought I'd ask in case there was a setting I need to change or something. The laptop is a bit limited regarding CPU, and the plugins all crash if I have too many, but Boogex crashes every time, even when it's the only plugin on the only track in a project. I'll try to get rid of all of the associated files and folders and reinstall it one last time before giving up on it, but I thought I'd ask, thanks.

      @@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn I had sandboxing woe when Waveform updated in about February; nearly all the plugins crashed. In the plugin section of the main menu try turning it off/clicking box to turn off enabling sandbox...problem solved (for me, anyway.)

    • @Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn
      @Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn 3 года назад

      @@joolz666 I downloaded it in March, so it's probably the same version. It's easy enough to reset, but I didn't know that you could turn off sandboxing, I'll check it out. When they all crash, it's because I have plugins running on 5 vox tracks, 3 bass tracks, and something like 6 guitar tracks, I just have to watch how many I use at a time. Mostly it's the amp sims adding up, so I just have to make a decision and re-record the guitar tracks with the amp sim, noise gate, Nova (for H/L filters and a little bit of compression), and any other basic plugins I want, then replace the raw track with that. That works, and it's not that different to analogue recording, which I used to do 25/30 years ago, but atm, Boogex is just unusable. Thanks for the tip, I'll check it out. :)

    The exact review I needed!! Is it common to have frequent "static" sounds while using Amplitube? I just installed it yesterday and my daw is Logic Pro. First I thought it was an issue with locked amps, cabinets and pedals that had already been selected but after only selecting the unlocked options I am still getting a static sound every 15-20 seconds :/

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 года назад +2

      You have to check that the amp head, cabinet and maybe even the mics used in the cabinet are unlocked. Also make sure any of the effects pedals and rack effects that might be in your setup are unlocked. I’ve run into that issue and it’s usually the cabinet. Sometimes you’ll select an amp head and it will automatically load with a paired cabinet but it may not be one that you have unlocked.

      If you watch the video all of them in this video are free not demos. Some are limited compared to the full versions in the sense that they don’t have all of the amps that the full version has which is understandable. But they don’t cause weird noises or dropouts. There’s no time limitations or anything. If you need a specific amp that’s only available in one of the higher up versions then buy it.

      I guess it’s a good thing that I say “you get 5 amps and 6 cabinets” in the video. I’m my opinion it’s one of the better sounding free guitar amp plugins. But there are many options out there so if it’s not worth it for you try another one.

      Check out the Blue Cat Audio amp too, that's very versatile, and has a nice clean channel, but also has some pretty nasty settings too, either old school drive or modern metal type sounds. I've used the "Jazzy" preset on bass and that's pretty smooth and rich.

      You should get an audio interface with an instrument input (pretty much all of them have that). If you’re just recording a guitar then you can find some very inexpensive ones that allow you to just connect instruments. Or you could get one that has mic preamps and instrument inputs. There are lots of options out there that range in price.
