The Meldaproduction plug-ins' look can be made much more appealing with some adjustment to the "style" (or skin) and colors. Unfortunately the default style and color are pretty unattractive, IMO. One of the first things I do when setting them up for other people is switch to the Argon style.

Mike, Thoroughly enjoy your videos. Question: I have had a Yamaha Tyros 4 keyboard for a number of years. Can it be connected to my computer in such a way that, when I want to use a VST in Cakewalk, I can play the sounds of the VST using the actual keys on my Tyros 4 keyboard?
This was a great video, very helpful, thank you! I think OTT by Xfer should have been mentioned as well; it's great for sculpting the sound of a single track, and indispensable as part of an Mastering chain.
Thank you a lot for all these great recommendations. Do you know, if all the plugins you showed support NKS? For me and many other blind music producers this feature is very important, because we often work with NI's keyboard controllers which provide a voice assistant for blind people and over the browser from the keyboard the VSTs and their presets get accessible. So if you know something about that, I'd be grateful, if you shared your knowledge.
The other free Tokyo Dawn plug is a series of EQ, not sure if they're supposed to be channel sims, but they include a "warming" control. They're right up there with Waves imo. This EQ comes in different layouts, such as "USA" "UK" , and the one I like best just bcos it's so funny and crazy, is "Soviet" mode. Who of us don't look up to rock's "Russian Invasion" as one of the eras of rock we derive much influence from even to this day, right? 🤣
Slate Drums, Spitfire BBC, and TDR Nova would definitely be among my favorite free plugins. The Ample Bass is great too, but I'm a bassist and would rather just play my own "real" bass. A few other free plugins I use constantly are Kiive Audio Warmy EP1A and the Kit Burier. The Warmy is a Pultec style EQ. I put it on bass, drums, and the master bus. It's probably my favorite plugin, period. The Kit Burier is an awesome saturation plugin. There are about half a dozen more I could name. I have a lot of plugins I paid for, but I end up using free ones just as often.
I'm using amplitude and it's very extensive for a free vst. The cab section is great, but with sum good IRS it becomes a monster,. I play old school metal, cause I'm old, always used big valve amps, usually Marshall or mesa, but I'm completely sold on amplitude. The mesa pack sounds insanity good. Thankyou #ikmultimedia And thankyou Mike for all the in-depth videos, You have helped me so much, navigate CAKEWALK. And help me produce sum quality tracks. So thankyou good sir,👍
Hi Mike - some good suggestions here - I'm moving onto the mixing stages in Cakewalk so might give the mastering effects a try. Just wondering whether you know of a good free jazz rock flute vst? I've used Ixox which is quite good but cant get the articulations working in Cakewalk. Some favourite instruments I use include dvs saxaphone (gritty tenor sax), DSK range of saxes.TPS Brass, SIM Clav by Quilcom clavichord/clavinet and Ticky Clav and particularly Hanon B70 Hammond B3 emulation and Velvet elect pianos - the pianet is quite useful for a lighter sound. So many to choose from so little time. PS my other half reckons you sound like Jason Donovan.
Hi Mike, great video and sounds amazing. Question though. What about the rhythm guitar and lead? Did you use real instruments for those and then feed them through Amplitube? Are there any instrument plugins that you would recommend for electric guitar. There seem to be so many options for acoustic guitar, bass and piano but I’m always struggling with electric guitar. Thanks in advance for any recommendations (and apologies if anyone above already asked this - your videos are so popular there are too many comments to scroll through!)
Hi Andy. Yeah, they were real guitars going through Amplitube. I have not found a free electric guitar which I find is any good. However, all of the paid ones from Ample Sound are good.
@@CreativeSauce ok thanks Mike. That’s a shame, maybe it’s too complex an instrument for the plugin makers. It’s funny, I was listening closely as you talked through the different instruments and then you mentioned rhythm and lead and I thought finally I’m going to find a great guitar. Not to be! Oh well let’s both keep looking!
@@andyhampton1338 hi Andy there is a Japanese company that has some really good free electric guitars bass and other instruments which run win sforzando. They have some really good articulations and sound. Recently used one in a production and it sounded great. The companies name is Unreal Instruments.
i tried ssd5 but found it too complicated as i am not a drummer and couldn't find a tutorial, so i use MT-Powerdrumkit which is free and still allows you to assign each instrument to a track so you can control the sounds. The standard sound isn't bad either

Thankyou #ikmultimedia
And thankyou Mike for all the in-depth videos,
You have helped me so much, navigate CAKEWALK.
And help me produce sum quality tracks.
So thankyou good sir,👍
I think Klanghelm offers also some great free versions of it‘s paid plugins like Tokyo Dawn does.
Surge is also another great synth to use those not as visual as Vital
Fantastic video. Thanks!

NICE WORK! from an 81 year old Broadcast editor!
Or alternatively I should just cough up some $ for the Ample guitar ones…
@@andyhampton1338 hi Andy there is a Japanese company that has some really good free electric guitars bass and other instruments which run win sforzando. They have some really good articulations and sound. Recently used one in a production and it sounded great. The companies name is Unreal Instruments.

Thanks Mike, You Rock!
A plug in I like on the master is fresh air, slate digital Glass House Edition 😁
i tried ssd5 but found it too complicated as i am not a drummer and couldn't find a tutorial, so i use MT-Powerdrumkit which is free and still allows you to assign each instrument to a track so you can control the sounds. The standard sound isn't bad either
