- At the end of the long list of HIS retro packs is this retro pack, pretty much like the other retro packs. Retro Pack.
The Southern Railway R E T R O P A C K essentially built for the Saluda Grade route within train simulator (by the same devs) with some rehashed retro package and 10 scenarios.

I remember watching train simulator videos when I was in elementary school before I had a computer and I remember seeing all the shit in this pack in those videos and they were uploaded at the time 5-10 years ago, something like that. Holy hell we need new rolling stock this is absolutely ridiculous.
For real. It's like taking a 13 year old car from the scrap yard, putting the same old goddamn parts on it, and painting them with a fresh coat of paint, while applying the same damn horn to it, and selling it as a brand new vehicle. DTM is the fucking Stanley S. Squarepants of Train Simulator Classic. He literally ruins every goddamn thing he touches and when he doesn't, he's busy finding a way to do so. It's like he just doesn't understand what quality is in 2023.
At this point, DTM needs to be taken out of the picture, or he needs a team of competent third-party devs who know what they're doing.
The weird shadows are caused by the light going through the back side. they are semi transparent the "shadows" match the framing on the other side.

Since the B&O Mountain Sub release HIS has been going downhill with everything that release. You would think they would want to make a name for themselves within our community for releasing top quality packs! Most of the best best stuff for TSC is freeware

Warmed over garbage is worse than hot garbage.
GP7s/9s were rated for 1500hp, so the GP18 adds 300hp, not 50. The SD9 was rated at 1750hp.
Both the route (Saluda Grade) and this retro pack are on sale (50% off) right now, so I wanted to revisit your reviews of them; do you think these are worth buying while on sale? I've hardly touched TSC for several years now, but am considering buying these even though I've re-created the W line/Saluda Grade, the S line/Old Fort Loops, and the Murphy Branch in Trainz over the past several years.
Theyre def not top of the line and sadly theres not much choice out there currently. Simply for rolling stock of era roadisms, sale would be worthwhile

Can't wait for diesel workshop to put their gp9 out so I can run that on Saluda instead.

As a big Southern Railway guy this is very disappointing to see the representation of this road in train sim. I'm not paying the $25. I'm just going to buy the kit bashed SD40 and download the free radio far and find repaints for everything else. What makes this even worse is that its retro pack 01, which make me think were going to get more of the same shit again.
We should have donated my sounds to them, but knowing DTG and DTM they wouldn't have used them. Lol reduce reuse and recycle typical DTM and DTG fashion. 😂
Hm, I very good idea to make a retro pack, but that's the best you can say about the pack after 25 minutes, sadly :-((
I kinda feel like High Iron went from High Quality Content to Mediocre Content after these last few releases. Don’t get me wrong, the Saluda Grade route itself was good, just the rolling stock flopped. I also feel that Trainz ‘22 has started to get on the heels of TSC, but I could be comparing two different beasts.
They've never been too too good with rolling to stock to be completely fair. The CSX Hannover Sub wasn't too bad, but the SD40-3 they made was a joke. I'm not sure if it's the pressure of DTG or HI getting comfortable with the profits they are making, but it is a bummer to see their stock quality this way
@@ColeMHusky I have a feeling the corpo pressure might be coming from Focus Home Entertainment. They pulled the same line of “We need DLC to keep this product going. Do the bare minimum if you need.” This also happened when Giants was under FHE too.
@@Goldeneye48 That's a good point. Sabre Interactive (devs of the Spintires/Mudrunner/Snowrunner series) is also under FHE and they also suffer from this issue
Let's not forget Rockstar Games, basically pulling the same shit in a different format for the last decade now. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here, but you have to admit there's some similarities.
When was the last time a good quality American dlc came out? It feels like it's been ages :/

I have to wonder why you bother to review products from this dev. You seem to religiously give negative reviews for them across the board. Do you do it just to put the boot in? It seems like it to me.
Having said that, your reviews of Diesel Workshop's RS3s finally got me one of my favourite locomotives - in New Haven liveries to boot. For that I thank you.
Not so much, the turbines weren't half bad. Its just rush job half hearted attempts lately and i generally look at everything thats NA

I'm so disappointed with this... the paint jobs are very mediocre. Inconsistent lettering and logo sizes... just gross.
I rather wipe my ass for $25. This is kind of a rip off and over priced.
