Too icy for him to get an edge, that had to hurt! Hopefully everyone was not injured. I was involved in a similar incident, and wound up with badly bruised (to the point of internal bleeding) lower abdominal muscles. Ended my season, and the poor kid that hit me was half my size.
I stopped the whole lift in the middle of the ascension. I got a panick attack suddenly. I dangled my son by one arm and dropped him to a man below. Then I fell on the poor guy. My husband came to get my boy and I went down the whole mount snow with my skis on my shoulder. So scared lol.

When you fall like this it's impossible to stop. You will literally slide all the way down, unless Maybe you somehow could get up and ride... but if you could, you wouldn't fall to begin with.
Lol, this exactly happened to me today. I fell from the lift. Luckily the people behind me that was also using the lift doged me. And no one got hurt. And my ski teacher, that also behind me from the lift, helped me get back up again. And he helped me ride down the hill and try to go up the lift again.

Keep your snow board off the ski slopes. Learn to ski. You scrape off all the snow with your sliding turns because you don't have the talent to make carving turns.
I'm sure he could have use the drag lift properly, like the one behind him, in the first instance, rather than just holding on for the duration of the lift. Jeez...
The others boarders don't appear to be having difficulty. And anyway, prior to settling into the T-lift, there is enough time, flex and slack in the line to position it, and yourself, adequately. And yes, I do partake, it can be awkward but it is doable.
