Everyone should know their blood type. Put it on your phone's lock screen (the one where the time and date shows) along with an 'In Case of Emergency' phone number. It might just save your life and let your loved ones know if something happens to you.
These are great for Remote Medics where crew don’t know their blood types
Nice
Awesome Taylor, I’m so happy to see you’ve brought back this channel...I still watch your other one but this one is my favorite out of the two. Best of luck camping with Eleanor and have fun...teach them and enstill the love of nature while their young...besides you’re making memories that will stay with her forever! Thanks for sharing brother and God bless! 🙏🏻🇺🇸
Tried it twice, got mine from an online pharmacy. O+, the only positive thing about me. :D
One of the best videos. Probably, one of the most important when it comes to helping yourself and others.
Thanks!
I love you videos so much I just keep watching them over and over lol!
When you donate blood they tell you your blood type. I know it for our whole family .
Would be nice to have a video talking about head/spine injury and stabilization as a civilian medic (also showing the new neck brace on medical gear outfitters)
Donate blood. When the red cross sends you your donor card, it has your blood type on it. That's how I learned my blood type.
Thanks, as always, man! I took 2 of those tests and came out as B+ on both but was wondering how reliable they even are (hence why I bought 2).
They seem to be good to go.
I've always wanted to take a blood test and wanted Type O Negative. Like the awesome band.
One heck of a band hate Peter passed though legendary vocalist in the metal scene
It will be good times for you too!
Sara Wilcker
Same here!
Well if any emergency happnes and people need blood they will drag you out to take your blood
I yelled "That's a lot of blood!!!!" a full 2 seconds before Skinny Medic did. My wife was LOL! 😆
Hahahaha
When you go have a physical you can ask the dr. to order your blood type when doing lab work too.
Im type O......... O My God im bleeding......
My mom told me I was O+ before the Army told me. All our children are A+, and my wife is A+ (and very lucky...).
Are these 100% accurate? I just ordered a 10 pack for my family from Amazon.
Do EMTs have blood in the ambulance?
Donate blood!! They tell you for free.
yes I have been s a slacker
Because I lived in England from 1979-1982 I am not allowed to donate blood.
“Bad time to ask for a high five...” 😂
Nice to know and good if you are in a post apocalyptic situation AND have the equipment for a direct person-to-person transfusion. But as a hospital laboratory professional I can tell you they NEVER take your word for it. If a trauma demands immediate blood transfusion, you will be given only type O blood until they determine your actual type. For repeat visitors that need repeat transfusions for medical reasons, we even verify the blood type EVERY SINGLE TIME you come in before we crossmatch any blood units just to insure that someone didn't confuse the records. Some hospitals will even do a bed side check immediately before transfusion (using much the same slide type test you used) to compare with the type on the blood bag that was crossmatched for you just as a double/triple/quadruple check!
Correct
WBT doesn’t require too much equipment at all. But yeah, always gonna check your type.
How cool! A self-test blood type test. I'm going to order a couple for me and the Mrs., oops I mean Ms.
Uncle Sam gave my info: O Neg
Washed out video, guys, Can't see the papers. The black tabletop fooled your camera. Did you check the view finder?
Not bad for a free video.
Is there anything that you know of that can slow down or reduce internal bleeding?
I have a feeling that that might be a necessity for blunt force trauma caused by an accident -( -will- *when* 👈edited here)it maybe days before you can obtain medical attention.
BTW - I am Rh negative
Not that I am aware of, they need surgery.
@@SkinnyMedic I agree with Skinny Medic. That will need the OR and a surgeon as soon as possible.
@@SkinnyMedic
Okay, thank you very much.
Surgery is needed but, Tranexamic acid can help. It also takes 40ish minutes to take effect so, there’s that.
Its good to know your blood type.
But in a life and death situation, like a trauma in the ER or hospital, they will still test you to find your blood type before they transfuse any blood. Even if you tell them your blood type just for your safety.
Working in the hospital, we had a lady that swore her blood type was A+ but hospital protocol is to test to be sure. And good thing we did.
She got so upset we tested her to make sure. Come to find out after we tested her, she was B+.
I explained to her good thing we double checked. Because if we gave her the wrong blood type, that is deadly.
Correct
I’m AB-. The rarest kind. I asked the Red Cross if they were glad when donated. They told me they didn’t need it often so they need the common types. So go donate if you have a common type.
Interesting ...
I would be very glad to have you come to my blood bank! AB donors are in high demand for plasma. It’s a bit too much to explain here, but AB plasma can be given to all blood types (like O negative red cells can be transfused to any one), plus AB patients can only receive AB plasma. It’s true that most hospitals don’t stock AB red cells, but AB plasma can be hard to come by. You are a valuable donor!
Every donation saves lives. So thank you for donating.
Speaking through my personal life experience, being in my 30s I need a life saving infusion every week. So from the bottom of my heart thank you to you and everyone that donates.
I forgot too. I know I’m Rh positive because I was autotransfused at birth. Kinda remember B+ but...
B is usually found in Asians
A mostly in European, sometimes in middle Eastern people.
AB is a mix of Asian and European (often through Mongol or Hunnic invasions for example)
O is found everywhere, Africans and Aboriginal Australians, native Americans have pretty much only O+
Negative is found mainly in European and to a lesser extent middle Eastern people.
@@gusjeazer I'm Lipan Apache on my dad's side, so we're very close genetically with Pacifc Rim Asians. I know I have my dad's type.
@@chassoto that would explain the B type then! :) But native Americans have almost exclusively O+, although all variation do occur in rare cases.
Personally I am not quite sure if native Americans really are so closely related to E.Asians for this reason. Maybe the B variation developed later on in Asia? It does seem that O+ was the 'original' blood type, it certainly is the most common one worldwide, found in all people, and many populations are O+ exclusively.
What i have learnt from this is not to allow @SkinnyMedic to do my BM.
the kit is asking for so much blood
I'm just surprised it actually worked 😂
me too! hahaha
Skinny! Thoughts on medical tattoo. What to include, where? I'm think about EMT/ER if I'm unconscious and no ID. What's most important? Blood type? Age? NKDA? On left wrist? Over heart?
Great Q
EMS can not honor the tattoos
That's a shame, but I understand why tho. Much love skinny !! Huge fan me an my wife watch you all the time have taught us both alot !! Thanks for being awesome
@@SkinnyMedic thanks
Allergies are very important.
Even if you have your blood type tattooed on you or you tell the medical personnel your blood type, in an emergency situation where you need blood, its still protocol to test your blood type first before transfusing blood. Its for your safety.
Because if you get the wrong blood type, that is deadly.
Had a blood transfusion a few years ago.
There is a HELL of a lot more to type and cross matching than just O+, A- or whatever else this test tell you.
Im O-
I will pass bro, I don't like needles
Donate blood lol. They tell you.
Right!
I've broken my bones, gotten stiches, helped in a car accident, kept my vaccinations up to date with no problem but I always start to pass out during blood test.
I can't donate blood but at least I have my organ donation will with me wherever I go.
Ima earn a million dollars
I am AB pos. and can give plasma to anyone and get blood from anyone and the second rarest blood type on the planet two percent
Go donate blood. they will tell you what blood type you are. Both O+ and the most desired blood and neither have given blood....shame.
my blood type is red
haha ... Good keep it on the inside!
I'm 0+
I am O Positive
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Cool...now go see a video about what your blood type has to say about your personality. Apparently the Japanese are really into that kind of thing.
Skinny Medic, love ya man, but this vid is just brutal. A qualled medic doesn't know his blood type??? Don't screw around yourself, just go give blood or ask any time you get a test. FFS.
“Bad time to ask for a high five...” 😂
Right!
