Wish more reactors would start out these songs, directly from the albums. Live performances are fun to watch, but people attended their concerts for the music.
Great rock band from the 70's-80's. They had so many great songs such as "Lorelei", "Suite Madame Blue", "Lady", "Renegade", "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)", "Babe", "The Best Of Times", "Mr. Roboto", "Too Much Time On My Hands", "Show Me The Way", "Don't Let It End", "Why Me", "Borrowed Time", "Rockin' The Paradise" etc.
The lead singer is Dennis DeYoung. When he was a kid growing up in Chicago, he used to sit by the lakeshore of Lake Michigan (which is practically the size of a sea) and daydream while watching the sailboats, making up stories how they were escaping from the confines that he faced.
Yes and a couple other groups who had some love ballads like - "Reo Speedwagon" - Keep on loving you.... another unique male voice. Also, Leo Sayer - "When I need you (I just close my eyes and I’m with you/And all that I so want to give you/It’s only a heartbeat away). Another higher male voice as a Love ballad.
My favorite thing to watch Re, is how your smile gets big when you know you like the music. Then it goes from big to giggle when you really like it. Now this song brings back SOOO many memories. And yes, you pronounced them just right. 🎄🎸🎸🎸🎄
Rere loved the switch up from sad to euphoric other songs by them that you will love are Babe, Lady and The Best Of Times. The lead singer Dennis DeYoung"s song Desert Moon you would also enjoy.
other groups who had some love ballads with a lead unique male singer with similar high voices of the era - "Reo Speedwagon" - Keep on loving you.... another unique male voice. Also, Leo Sayer - "When I need you (I just close my eyes and I’m with you/And all that I so want to give you/It’s only a heartbeat away).
Excellent! My college years, the first album I played on my first proper stereo system. Other favorites from the mid-late 70s... Hall & Oats, "Abandoned Luncheonette" album (1973), the entire fist side, all worthy listens: 1. "When the Morning Comes" - 2. "Had I Known You Better Then" 3. "Las Vegas Turnaround (The Stewardess Song)" 4. "She’s Gone" 5. "I'm Just a Kid (Don't Make Me Feel Like a Man)"... (Blue Eye'd Soul Music) Dave Mason (from the band Traffic), solo "Let it Flow" album, (1977) - "We Just Disagree" Dan Fogelberg - Nether Lands, (from the album of the same name, is my favorite1977), so many greats... "Longer"... "The Innocent Age, released in October 1981, was Fogelberg's critical and commercial peak. The double album included four of his biggest hits: "Same Old Lang Syne", "Hard to Say", "Leader of the Band", and "Run for the Roses".
My greatest experience with this song was hearing it during a Planetarium Laser Rock performance. It was awesome. Incidentally, I am so happy to have just come across your channel. You provide great music reaction selections, have a beautiful voice and lovely facial features. Subscribing to your channel was a no brainer. Thrilled to be here.
This is the song I would listen to after a long hard nights work at the old plant I worked at. It picked me up to carry on for another day. I Love your reaction to the music we've loved for so long.
One of the first 3 albums I bought (on cassette) in 1982 was Styx's Paradise Theater. I was 13 and had bought my first stereo. (Yeah, and actual stereo.) The other two were Billy Joel and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Around 1973 I saw these guys at Elgin Community College outside of Chicago. They played in the commons area as I recall and no seating the audience just stood or sat on the floor. They are from Chicago and this was still before they made it big so still playing in lots of local smaller venues.
Styx has been my favorite band since 1977 - huge catalog of something for everyone. This is a shortened video(for MTV). Listen to the studio/album audio or a live performance(1996 "Return To Paradise" tour). You missed the whole flying saucer/spacey instrumental. Note that this song was released in the same year as film "Close Encounters Of The Third Kind". Dennis DeYoung is the lead singer on this one, but Styx also has 2 other lead singers/songwriters: Tommy Shaw and James "JY" Young. This gives them not only the variety from a songwriter, but multiple varieties from multiple songwriters/performers. Check out "Fooling Yourself" by Tommy Shaw which is from the same album, "The Grand Illusion". Others: "Prelude 12/Suite: Madame Blue", "Crystal Ball", "Young Man", "Lady", "Blue Collar Man", "Castle Walls", "Man In The Wilderness", "Snowblind".
I like the idea that with Come Sail Away, you are actually getting 2 songs for the price of one. 2 different types of songs with the same great voice on both of them. He can serenade you and he can rock you.
Ok, Rere. I have two suggestions for you today. The first cones a fellow Brit. His name is Billy Idol. The song is TO BE A LOVER. You will enjoy the kinetic mixture of dance and blues. Next, a 197o's song from one of the big disco, dance, and rhythm and blues groups. They are known as the O'Jays. The song is GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT. You will want the studio version for this one as it packs more punch. And just for kicks and giggles, listen to Michael Jackson and his brothers, the Jackson 5ive, sing about THE LOVE YOU SAVE. It cones as a television performance from way back in the 2oth century. Enough for now. Keep going and enjoy the music.
Great song from the multi-talented Dennis DeYoung. I saw them in concert in the 70s. Great seats. The piano rose up from below the stage with Dennis playing this intro. The crowd went wild. Sadly he went a little off with the Mr. Roboto stuff and the band split.
I saw them in 1977 and 2022. One of my fave bands. Check out their song, Crystal Ball. I think you'd love it. Also Cheap Trick is another great band from that era. I love your channel. You do a great job. Thanks Rere!
Very Cool!! From a great album I had on 8-Track (Google it) and have the vinyl. Still can't get past the Scottish Starship pilots. Great Reaction Lass and Lads!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
Cool. S T I C K S. Say it like that. This was a bigtime hit for this band. I remember this was all over the radio waves nationwide in the late 1970's. good band with loads of hits. Thanks for the reminder of better days. Peace. Later.
I've had the pleasure of seeing them three times. Twice with the original line-up, including John P.😇 Once after Lawrence McGowin replaced Dennis DeYoung. It's impossible to not appreciate this song. They found their fortune🤑🤑 This is usually their encore song
Another vocalist in Styx is Tommy Shaw, he's awesome. Do yourself a huge favor and pull up and react to Tommy Shaw " Blue Collar Man" Live at Daryl's House. You'd love it.
Fun reaction! Take a listen to the album version it’s a bit different with a central instrumental section and dramatic vocal return. Great talent! Thanks for the review!! Take care
I gave you a thumbs up, but you really need to listen to the studio version. This one cut out the whole instrumental part off the song which is an incredible piece of music. This whole album, “Grand Illusion”, is a masterpiece!!!
From an old-school music lover, always listen to the unedited album versions of the songs you react to. That way, you get the true song the way it was meant to be heard.
Sadly, this is a severely truncated version that leaves out an amazing instrumental section. You owe it to yourself to listen to the album version, which will impress you MUCH more!!!
You gotta listen to the studio version. This one cuts out the bridge which is the most memorable part.
Agrreed!
Wish more reactors would start out these songs, directly from the albums. Live performances are fun to watch, but people attended their concerts for the music.
This *is* the studio version. Some idiot thought it would a good idea to edit the guts out of it. And, yeah, it's pretty jarring.
I've never heard this edit before, but it cuts out the most exciting part of the song. Not good.
Both are the same recording other than this being the cut single 45 rpm version
So much talent in this band Three legitimate lead singers excellent musicians Pieces of eight my personal favorite Thanks Re

"Lorelei" and "Suite Madame Blue" are very underrated songs. When those come on my playlist, it's always a treat.
I really like the song Castle Walls
Crystal Ball and Grand Illusion would be a couple more good choices. Good reaction.
The lead singer is Dennis DeYoung.
When he was a kid growing up in Chicago, he used to sit by the lakeshore of Lake Michigan (which is practically the size of a sea) and daydream while watching the sailboats, making up stories how they were escaping from the confines that he faced.
Great reaction. This came out when we were juniors in High school, we were all in with Styx.
Dennis Deyoung has a very unique voice so when you hear him you know who it is.
This was from the first album from Styx that I purchased back in 1977. Superb.

Love Styx. My favorite band. Another song to react to is Renegade.
They are amazing. "Babe" needs to be your next reaction. His voice is so awesome.
Should do s Tommy rocker next to see both sides of the two headed snake
Rere loved the switch up from sad to euphoric other songs by them that you will love are Babe, Lady and The Best Of Times. The lead singer Dennis DeYoung"s song Desert Moon you would also enjoy.
Great Song one of my All Time Favorites, now you need to listen to the full version, even better!!!!!
Please listen to the studio version. This live version is missing a cool synthesizer solo right before the change up.
This song and "Lady" are both great songs !! Great reaction !!!

My God, Dennis De Young. What a voice. ❤👍
It's been 46 years since I saw these guys the first time. It was during their "Pieces of Eight" tour in the summer of '78, in Asbury Park, NJ.
Excellent! My college years, the first album I played on my first proper stereo system. Other favorites from the mid-late 70s...

Allman Brothers Soulshine. Itll change your life. God bless you.
Without a doubt!
This is the song I would listen to after a long hard nights work at the old plant I worked at. It picked me up to carry on for another day. I Love your reaction to the music we've loved for so long.
Great Choice, Fantastic Song from the late 70's
Loved the reaction and the Band!! It's been years since I've heard them!! Thank you, great music and band!!❤
I just saw them earlier this year and they still put on a great show.
One of the first 3 albums I bought (on cassette) in 1982 was Styx's Paradise Theater. I was 13 and had bought my first stereo. (Yeah, and actual stereo.)
The other two were Billy Joel and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Their entire "Crystal Ball" , "Equinox", and "Grand Illusion" albums are great. "Castle Walls" is a noteworthy track.
So much great music to choose from!!!

Keep going and enjoy the music.
STYX are awesome. No matter how high they are ranked, it's not high enough.
Dennis DeYoung is the singer in this but the blonde dude Tommy Shaw is also a good vocalist. Styx is a great band.
PART II 😁 SUITE MADAME BLUE 💙 is probably my favorite though LADY the original version is very nice as well!! ☯️☮️
Great song from the multi-talented Dennis DeYoung. I saw them in concert in the 70s. Great seats. The piano rose up from below the stage with Dennis playing this intro. The crowd went wild. Sadly he went a little off with the Mr. Roboto stuff and the band split.
You'll love their song Babe. Hi from Texas.
From tall ships to star ships, straight and steady helmsman
Glad you enjoyed the song! By the way the name of the band is pronounced Styx!
Hi Ri.
A very, very, very good song by Styx is "Sweet Madam Blue" .. you will like the music !!
Merry Christmas 🎄 to you
Styx was a lot of fun. You might also enjoy their song Renegade. Thanks for sharing this one!
Renegade or Crystal Ball are really good. Mr. Roboto is different. The river Styx is from Greek mythology.
First favorite rock band.
😅
Other songs will be 'Suite Madame Blue', 'Renegade', and 'Crystal Ball'.
The studio version of this song is fire !!
I saw them in 1977 and 2022. One of my fave bands. Check out their song, Crystal Ball. I think you'd love it.
Also Cheap Trick is another great band from that era. I love your channel. You do a great job. Thanks Rere!
Nice to see thought provoking music from the past versus the debauchery of today's music
Very Cool!! From a great album I had on 8-Track (Google it) and have the vinyl. Still can't get past the Scottish Starship pilots. Great Reaction Lass and Lads!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼
The River Styx is the river that you cross into the underworld. And, yes, it is pronounced like "sticks".
The Stranglers-Golden Brown,,, Iron Maiden- Hallowed Be Thy Name,Live 1982
You got it. Sticks 😂
This was the short version... there's a instrumental break in the center.
Cool. S T I C K S. Say it like that. This was a bigtime hit for this band. I remember this was all over the radio waves nationwide in the late 1970's. good band with loads of hits. Thanks for the reminder of better days. Peace. Later.
There is a more complete version of that song. This was the short version ...
I've had the pleasure of seeing them three times. Twice with the original line-up, including John P.😇 Once after Lawrence McGowin replaced Dennis DeYoung.
It's impossible to not appreciate this song.
They found their fortune🤑🤑
This is usually their encore song
Dang radio edit.
Rabbit hole🎉😂❤
I meant during the change up. Right before he discovers the angels are actually space aliens.
If you ever listen to A More relevant song it would be ( The Grand Illusion ) by Styx Yet they have Many fantastic songs 😊👍
Another vocalist in Styx is Tommy Shaw, he's awesome. Do yourself a huge favor and pull up and react to Tommy Shaw " Blue Collar Man" Live at Daryl's House. You'd love it.
It is So Good! He still has the voice @ 70!!
Lady and Babe are 2 good ones RND
Fun reaction! Take a listen to the album version it’s a bit different with a central instrumental section and dramatic vocal return. Great talent! Thanks for the review!! Take care

Great reaction . Check out Castle Walls by Styx.
Are Angels actually Aliens? "In Greek mythology, Styx, also called the River Styx, is a goddess and one of the rivers of the Greek Underworld." Wiki
please do Styx lady next
More from Styx! Or Zeppelin. Or Dire Straits. Or Bob Seger. Or Queen. Or Rush... 🙂😁😂
What instrument do you play?
Renegade 👍
Next Styx song -- Crystal Ball
I gave you a thumbs up, but you really need to listen to the studio version. This one cut out the whole instrumental part off the song which is an incredible piece of music. This whole album, “Grand Illusion”, is a masterpiece!!!
If you liked this one I suggest you go back to their 1st Radio hit "Lady" for a listen. 🙂
listen to the audio studio versions of grand illusion and light up by styx and read the lyrics first and let us know what you think of them !
your right its pronounced "sticks"
When playing a video, turn off annotations under settings to avoid the annoying white banner from repeatedly appearing.
You choose the short version, the long version is way better
the band wanted to rock - the lead singer wanted to be more theatrical . the found a happy medium for quite awhile
From an old-school music lover, always listen to the unedited album versions of the songs you react to. That way, you get the true song the way it was meant to be heard.
Radio play single version is not bad but the album track is far better ... Chek out Styx Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man )
Sadly, this is a severely truncated version that leaves out an amazing instrumental section. You owe it to yourself to listen to the album version, which will impress you MUCH more!!!
They cut out a big part
Just do you; there is no need for guests. You look lovely
Before you react, choose the better version.
The original is much longer
STICKS
Styx stynx.
Hopefully theyll be more fréedom and safety with Trump. Lock em up.
