Hi Rere, TOTO is an "Elite" Band that plays, sings & performs at the "HIGHEST LEVEL!!!" Please try reacting next to their songs "HOLD THE LINE" and "GORGY PORGY" they are absolute "BANGERS!!!"
Great classic tune. This song was written about one of the band member's girlfriends at the time, actress Rosanna Arquette. (Not the woman from the video). The drums are epic. The drummer, Jeff Porcaro, said he made a hybrid of drums from two other songs. One was drummer Bernard Purdie's "Purdie Shuffle".
Rosanna Arquette wasn't a star, but was in the movie Pulp Fiction (a movie you MUST watch). She's the drug dealer's gf, that doesn't want Uma Thurman dying in her house.
@@dab_family9405 She was a huge star in the 1980's-pretty big even when this came out-SOB, The Executioner's Song, Baby It's you & the tv show Shirley. She got much bigger after though-After Hours, Desperately Seeking Susan, Silverado, The Big Blue, NY Stories etc. Her star had faded by the early 1990's though.
Damn. This song/artists were all over the radio waves when first released. Originally released on the album "Toto IV" in 1982 and in 1983 "Roseanna" won a lot awards including several Grammys it was also featured on heavy rotation on MTV and VH1 back in the day. Everyone loved this big Toto hit. Liked it then. Still here for it today. Still liking your style a lot, girlfriend. Big shoutout from this old longhaired. wild eyed, southern boy in the mountains of East Tennessee. U.S. of A. Much peace and lots of love to you and yours this Holiday Season. See you on the next. Later, Love.
After finishing Toto IV, these guys helped Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson finish up 3 or 4 songs for MJ’s “Thriller” album. “Human Nature” was co-written by Roseanne’s boyfriend Steve Porcaro, and “Beat It” was basically Jeff Porcaro, Steve Lukather, MJ with a solo by Eddy Van Halen. These studio guys played on thousands of tracks from the late 70s all thru the 80’s.
Ooh-ee, I always get a kick out of Toto. They did many jams/scores for films back in the day. If you enjoy 'em, I would highly recommend 'Hold The Line', one of my favorites. Thanks for the reaction Rere, have a great day!
🇨🇦 Ever notice how music from this period is more upbeat, fun, lighter, not like music today which seems more angrier, darker, over dramatic/confrontational ? 🇨🇦
Like "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" this studio cut we are hearing is the very first run through of the song. Not unheard of given this band was comprised of professional studio musicians who read music and played on albums by artists such as Steely Dan and Michael Jackson. Incredible nonetheless.
Ok, Rere. This song was influenced by the movie and style of WEST SIDE STORY. It was a big cultural hit in 196o. HOLD THE LINE must be the next song reaction. Keep going and enjoy
Hold the Line should be your next Toto reaction. But if you don't mind Ballads, Toto has a couple, I Won't Hold You Back and I'll be Over You. They're pretty famous, so you might have heard of them. If you want some more Bands that are pretty similar to Toto (Jazz-Rock), try Chicago and Level 42. Chicago: 1. 25 or 6 to 4 (Live at Tanglewood) ruclips.net/video/7uAUoz7jimg/видео.htmlsi=8SKsne9QsXsUVISG 2. No Tell Lover 3. Beginnings 4. You Make Me Smile 5. Dialogue Part 1 & 2 Level 42: 1. Love Games 2. Love Meeting Love 3. Physical Presence 4. Lessons in Love 5. Why Are You Leaving?
At least one member of TOTO was smitten with Rosanna Arquette at the time haha. At least we got a great song out of it! Thanks for the reaction, maybe Mushanga?
Toto were a group of the best session players from LA. They were incredible musicians who played with Steely Dan, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Barbara Stresiand, Madonna, Cheap Trick, literally hundreds of artists.
The dancer in the red dress, Cynthia Rhodes, is one of the most talented people ever: She played Tina Tech in the movie "Flash Dance", she was the female lead in the John Travolta film " Staying alive", she was also in "Dirty Dancing", and the female lead in the Tom Selleck movie "Runaway". As lead singer in the band Animotion she had a hit song.
Written about keyboardist Steve Porcaro's girlfriend , actress Rosanna Arquette . The dancing lady in the video , Cynthia Rhodes , bears a resemblance to Rosanna . which is why I imagine she was used for the video. If you're into movies at all , I suggest you give a movie Ms.Arquette starred in , "Desperately Seeking Susan" which also has Madonna's Big Screen debut playing the eponymous role of Susan.
Hey there.. just subscribed to you channel cause of this song.. TOTO are the most musically talented musicians.. they were instrumental in the making of the Thriller album for Michael Jackson, the song human nature is originally written from a Toto member. Don't know why people neglect it, but the companion to this is Pamela, an even better song, IMHO. You really need to hear it, regardless of whether you react to it or not. It features another awesome singer from their lineup, Joseph Williams, son of the great orchestra conductor.
Hi ReRe - AND as is often the case - the bassist is the "most handsome" in the group. I love "MIKE Porcaro", the good-looking bassist has two other brothers in the band who played a major role in his fame. What do you think - as a young woman - isn't the bassist usually the prettiest in many bands? AND TOTO also makes great music - do you know "Hold The Line", "I'll Be over you"
So good. I'm fortunate to have been a teen when this music was first produced. TOTO were very popular and obviously very talented. Hey Rere! ☺ Great reaction!
So fun to watch young people today react to real music. I'm really not overly trying to bash today's music; it's popular and it certainly has it's place. The problem with it to my ear is it's not very musical; it definitely has beat but not much musicality. That's ok if that's what you were raised on but seems lacking to me. Good reaction Rere!
Hi. I want to share this musical artist with you. His name is Jean-Luc Pointy and this is a composition from his LP titled, A Taste For Passion." Link: ruclips.net/video/jttEx4Kdp_w/видео.htmlsi=w8uj79RZaDb6j-Dy BTW, I really like your reaction videos. Thanks. Rob in California. 🎻🎵
Wow. Real people, playing real instruments, with real singers that couldn't lean on tech like auto tune and computer drum loops. WTF happened to music?

Georgy...
@@george217 Thanks for the correction...My badd!!!
Cynthia Rhodes is the dancer in the video. This appearance helped get her cast in Dirty Dancing. Patrick Swayze is also a dancer in this video.
Staying Alive, Flashdance. If it was the 80's and you were making a movie about dancing you cast Cynthia Rhodes.
She became the lead singer for the group Animotion and had a hit with "Room to Move:! She is also married to singer Richard Marx!
Yep! She was also in Flashdance as well in a supporting role.

The guitarist for Toto played the riff in Michael Jackson's Beat It while Eddie Van Halen played the solo.
Africa by toto is being used in an ad at moment. Hold the line is cool too! ❤
I'm a pro musiscian and I have to say that you're spot on about todays music. These days, people with no skills in music are flooding the music scene.
Toto "Hold The Line" and "I'll Be Over You"
0:02 looking forward to the smiles you’re going to make what a great tune🎉😂❤

Saw them in concert with Journey this year. Only a few original members left in each group but still an awesome show
This has been in many polls the top song of the 1980’s.They have 3 wonderful voices in the group.
I thought Every Breath You Take was.

Pamela is another great song of theirs
You Are The Flower and Georgy Porgy are two great song's of their's to check out.
GORGY PORGY IS MY FAVORITE BY TOTO !!
