    FINAL UPDATE: I've found that it consistently works if I keep the TV unplugged. May not be an option for all of you, and no idea why it works this way...may even be totally unrelated. I dunno. But I've found that if I leave the TV unplugged (the Chromecast is plugged into and powered by the TV), when I want to use it, I can plug the TV in and it will work. Something to think about.

    So, last night, I brought it in the house again, plugged it into the TV, reset it and set it up again. No clue why...but...yea...now it works...
    If you're having this problem, try it on a different TV, I guess. Who knows...lol
    UPDATE: It stopped wording again. I think it's defective.

      Its a big problem while setting it up. My chromecast sets up randomly and then goes digitally invisible. After some days it got connectef again but dint took even a week to lose connection.

      Alright I have the same problem. So what I found is the router does not support Chromecast ultra idkw but I directly put a Ethernet into the Chromecast ultra after factory reseting it and all worked even got my stadia controller connected finally.

      What worked for me is to disable the "IP & MAC Binding", that totally makes no sense! I use a TP-LINK Archer VR900 V3 an some more APs spread among the house and even I had correct WiFi connection, internet access was failing, thus not being able to complete the setup.
      May be that helps others like @Rosana, where even the new gen device had the same issue.

      I have same issue about not able to connect the Chromecast. I have 5 chromecast in my building and I thought it is because my phone is old, then I brought a newer phone, problem happened but not on daily basic. One day, both phones not able to connect that one particular TV and I tried to use the tablet, it just get the connection right away same time, same wifi and same location. Strange !

    Thanks so much for this video. I had exactly the same issue and went and bought another Chromecast. It was the router! I had reset it before and hadn't worked. This time I kept it off for 30 minutes and now all is working fine.

    I found out it’s a WiFi issue I recently switched to spectrum and it would not work at all on spectrum WiFi I also have at&t and I plugged my at&t router back up and reset on to my at&t WiFi network and it works just fine like it was never anything wrong so if you have spectrum and it’s not working that’s why...hope this helps someone!

      I have spectrum also & my Chromecast is not working either, smh. I wonder if it's something they're doing on purpose 🤔❓idk, but it's frustrating. It worked with frontier.

      HI, I recently had the exact same problems. I called Google Support and they confirmed 2 of Spectrums default routers are not compatible with Chromecast (specifically RAC2V1A and RAC2V1K). He said if you can get other router besides those, then it should work. I exchanged my router yesterday and it works perfectly now. Reposting this to help anyone with Spectrum. GOOD LUCK!

    I realize this is three yrs old now, but I was just having the same issue for three days. I finally figured out why and how to fix it. For my self all I did was hit the settings in the app, scrolled down to the bottom, there is a delete button, I continued to delete all that was set up to the chrome cast, and started all over again. 🤷 And vola all set up!!!

    I think I went over these same steps one hundred times each. I'm so pissed off. I had 1st generation chromecast and then thought it was giving me issues because its old so I bought the 3rd generation and still the same thing. Ugh! I'm so frustrated, I did all the troubleshoot steps and still nothing.

    It happens to me when I use Spectrum Router. Apparently Spectrum is blocking Chromecast with theirs routers. I changed my router to a Lynkis and it is working well now

      I bought the google nest router and y’all... I haven’t had any problems like at all. Everything connects and streams like spreading butter 🧈 I suggest y’all get a new router! Unless you in ow to configure a network..

      Lelo M lately my chromecast has been rebooting on its own during streaming. It’s been happening now for several weeks now. I’ve had mine for a couple years so I’ve decided to just purchase an new one which is coming in a few days. I had the 1st generation so I’m getting the slight expensive Chromecast Ultra. When it arrives I will test it out and come back and let you guys know how I got on. I’m hoping it’s not a global problem with all chromecasts at this point, so fingers crossed.

      Lelo M Hi I’m back. It’s been 3 weeks since I received my Google Chrome Ultra and I can say it’s 100% better than my old device. It streams and plays very fast. I’m very pleased with it I can’t complain 😁

    I have three Chromecast, two that work wonderfully but the one I bought for my mom has disconnected since day one. I'm going to try switching them and see if her TV is may be causing a problem because it is quite outdated. I'll check back in

    I must have tired 10 times factory formatting it..but nothing happen..then I tired rebooting wifi and factory reset Chromecast and it work..little a miracle..cheers

      so we have a new spectrum wi-fi router and its my primary suspect. do you guys also have spectrum? what router are you all using? I've got the wave 2 router from spectrum.

    I had a chromecast that had issues for a while. would never show up on my phone as a castable device. I decided to reset it, and god things got even worse. I get the setup screen, yet now on my phone, the device doesn't show. I want to crush this damned thing so badly.

      With mine, on my TV it says it's ready to cast, but on my phone it says it's been unlinked, and there isn't a way to link it back.

    Omg thank God finally I found a solution to this shit, I literally spent probably 3-4 days over the past couple months trying everything under the sun, I only have 3 phones I use to cast and use hotspot from, only 2 of them have service my s21 and 22 ultras and my s8+ I use to actually cast from and use my s22 for hotspot because I use my s21 mostly because it has my main number on it and I only have an s22 because my ex fiancee stole the s21 I got her when she cheated on me and put it in a kiosk for 200 bucks and pawned the 2000 dollar ring for, you guessed it 200 bucks, but smartly shut the line down for the 6 months att allows until after the s22 came, and then paid the 225 for a replacement and bam a brand new s22, and due to the 250 I have asurion att put it toward the payoff and now I'm over 500 bucks so I have an upgrade already and I didn't get my original phones until June or July so I might get a fold 4, so I went from an s21 to an s22, and maybe to a fold 4 in less than a year, only paying like 600 dollars on my installment by the time the fold is out, actually less than 600, anyway nobody cares just the only good thing that's happened to me in forever until this week got a new job, 3 dollars more and hour and now I might have my chromecast back, although I'm about to buy a Google TV anyway, still on 2nd gen, I know, he'll I had an s8+ until last year, I just couldn't bring myself to switch, I still like that phone's formatter better than any phone ever, curved screens, and not so big you constantly drop it and constantly unintentional touches especially on the s22 ultra the s21 not so bad, but omg the drops, on my second screen on the s21, I can't use screen protectors, they are impossible to install perfectly to where it doesn't constantly trigger fuck my ocd,, also the feel and touch sensitivity is just unbearable for me. Ok going to fix mah 2nd gen now, God willing, and by God I mean out overlords Google and Samsung .

    When mine went bad it would just stop casting for no reason and after I talk with my brother in law and he's a computer genius literally he actually builds his own computers but anyway everything electronic goes bad and when I touched the Chromecast it was burning up! So I put a fan on it to keep it cool and it worked great until my new one arrived

    If you're using unifi in the house turn off auto optimisation and turn on multicast enhancement, Chromecast uses multicast to initially connect

    Latest : solved the issue.
    1)Disabled all vpn settings in my router
    2) in LAN IGPM proxy is disabled
    After that it solved
    Am stuck with the same issue. I got 2 Chromecast devices and both are having the same issue. I tried connecting this device in my neighbours home and everything works absolutely fine there. So am not sure what's the problem with the Chromecast to connect to my home network. It's a 2.4 Ghz Freq which is used for this connection as requested. Someone please help me in solving this

    As others have said regarding the Unifi setup (mdns on, auto optimisation off) sometimes I find with mine giving it a kick from the controller allows it to re-establish a connection and then it works.

    I've had this thing for 5 hours and I already had it not connect to the TV when I turned it on and once I finally got it connected the whole remote didn't work. If this happens again tomorrow I'm bringing it back.

    My living room Chromecast won't connect to the corresponding TV and it's a nest router too grrr!!!
    Never had a problem when I was using my super hub 3. But then I don't have the range throughout the property, of course. I can't win. Damn you Google not connecting between own devices!!!

      Yea, I really think mine is defective. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...USUALLY it doesn't. But, I can take the bedroom Chromecast out there and it works perfect.
      Maybe yours is defective, too.

    This is bu far the ONLY way I found out why it wasn’t working. My router was the problem.
    I used a personal hotspot to connect both the chromecast device and an ipad for this instance which were both connected to my phone’s personal hotspot.

      with personal hotspot works all the time, but i want to save data and money so i Hook it up to the house router for the first time but the app on my phone is having trouble trying to find the deanm thing. the app give me and error message that says: router AP isolation is not allowing to connect to my phone.

      It stopped working again after the pinned post. I ended up contacting Google and, after the setup process, they had me turn everything off, plug it in then turn the tv on and it worked. No idea why, or if that would be a permanent fix, but hey...give it a shot. Factory reset, reboot everything, set it up, unplug it, turn tv off, wait 30sec, plug it back in, turn tv on.

    It depends on the chromecast you have, on mine there's a button in the circle thingy of the chromecast, you just need to hold the button until it resets the connection, open the google home app and follow the steps thoroughly.

      I got a new sub yesterday, too. The backbone is starting to get a bit stressed at times...going to hold off on expansion until I can get on the tower and get some real throughput. SOON!

    i have the exact same issue. my pc is directly to my wifi router, and when i try casting my chrome tab from said pc, it worked perfectly! weird that all my other wireless devices cannot cast to the chromecast, even my laptop although all of them are connected to the same wifi router (checked it from my 192.168.1.1)

      i have deducted that the problem may come from the wifi settings (which ive found weird as i did a factory reset on my router, but it still doesnt work)

    fixed my chromecast by brushing the back of the TV Hdmi ports.

    I used it on 2 different tvs 2 different phones an 1pad just stuck in loading screen sayin disconnected device connect device to Wi-Fi if it not connected why is it in the app settings already and I used it on my 5g and it just not work

    If you know the WiFi signal is good in this area. Maybe it's a DHCP Leasing issues (I had a router not give leases until a reboot. idk)
    or Network encryption issues? WPA2-AES is most common for newer devices.

      Yea, Wi-Fi signal is fine out there. I think it's something to do with IP address, too. Really wish the thing gave some info, though! The app doesn't tell you ANYTHING about IP, signal, etc. Nothing. Pretty annoying.

    Is it an older Chromecast? I've had that happen twice. Both to the original Chromecast. Google told me it just happens after a bunch of years. Got a new one and no problems.

      Yeah mine is 1st gen and it seemingly "cant connect to device." Annoying. I bet G home updates and threw my whole life off. Gonna have to get a new one :[

    I suddenly had the same issue that I lost connection to both chromecast devices (living room and bedroom) and kept getting usable to connect error messages. After 1 day and a half of trying everything thing I could possibly do I contacted Spectrum. Of course they had me try everything that I had already tried they did a Firmware Update to my Router. Problem solved.

    I have a problem. When my chrome cast connects my tv has a bug where the screen zooms in too much making 30% of the border screen not visible how can I fix this

      Might be something to do with your TV. Have you adjusted the picture setting?

    My tv is new it has chrome cast and airplay and I have a movie app that it used to let me use chromecast but now it doesn’t it only uses airplay which I don’t like and it says I can use chromecast and dial , and airplay but at the end it can only use airplay and I have another tv which in that one it only uses chromecast which is good but it’s my room tv

    Are all the Chromecast on the same subnet?
    Are you using any kind of wi-fi extenders on that part of the house?

    3:36 untill that moment had everything the same. But it was acsualy working. Only problem what I'm having with it, is that it's breaking up connection. I'm casting from oculus quest and sometimes it might be a minute sometimes 5 minutes. When it breaks up I have to reconnect it again. Very annoying

    I had the same problem I thinks it's the router. If you got spectrum router swap it. I swear spectrum is trash. I'm currently changed my router to netgear and I'm able to cast now from my chromecast.

    UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), also known as multicast, allows for the discovery of UPnP-enabled devices on the same Wi-Fi network.
    It appears that you have UPnP disabled on your router. This makes Chromecast undiscoverable by other devices on the same network. You will need to enable UPnP in your router settings. Please refer to your router manufacturer's documentation to learn how to enable UPnP on your router.

      I've tried to get into the settings for my wifi router but when I put my router address in it says page not available.... Any help?

      @@scottstevison1593 Bring up a command prompt (Google if you need) and type ipconfig/all
      The "gateway" address is usually the address you need to go to to get into the router. Give it a shot.

      So what worked for in the end was doing a factory reset on the chromecast and setting it up on the 5 hz network not the 2.4 hz. It didnt like the 2.4

    I have the same issue and try many different ways to get it working and was not able to fix it. I decided to use an old TP Link router I had as a wifi extender of my main router (even though the signal from the main router reaches the Chromecast just fine) and it does connect to the old router that is used as a wifi extender for some reason. Both routers are TP Link btw. Have you (or anyone) been able to find any other solution?

      some people are saying that the problem was the app and after updating it phone was able to connect to the cast.

      AP router isolation is the error I got when i first set it up, but with my hotspot from my phone it works ok.

    need help my issue is , lets say i use stremio to stream a movie from my pc to a chromecast connected tv it starts loading , and when its almost complete it stops , and i just have the normal chromecast screen on my tv , before it worked fine for me , all of a sudden it doesn't pls help :(

    solved after change my HDMI extention cable and its 100% working now so try to change HDMI port if u have another in ur led then change HDMI extention cable

      I had the same exact issue. Turned off and unplugged modem and router. Did the same for Chromecast by disconnecting hdmi from tv and power supply. Waited a couple minutes. Plugged everything in. Turned on modem 1st then router then Chromecast. Viola everthing works

    I'm having this exact issue on a school with 8 ChromeCasts (v2) attached to Video projectors. Sometimes they work and sometimes they just vanish from the network. I have a Draytek Vigor 2927ac and a bunch of Unifi AP and switches. No VLan's. Can anyone help me? It's driving everyone crazy (me particularly as I'm the school's sysadmin) and it's affecting class dinamics. Help me, please.

      @@rmp5s I don't get it. You keep the TV unplugged from the outlet? Is that it? On my case that solution is not possible as the videoprojectors are setup on the ceiling with energy cable concealed inside.

      @ I really don't think Chromecasts are intended for what it sounds like you're trying to accomplish. I assume the teachers are wanting to cast to the projector but this isn't really what Chromecasts are for. You're probably going to want to find another solution.
      And yea, I keep it all unplugged until I want to use it and it works perfect when I put it in.

      @@rmp5s maybe you're right, but... some of them (2 work consistently) for the last week. The problem started when I intended to add the other 6 to the same network. ChromeCasts would be the perfect solution for replacing long HDMI cables that every now and then break, mainly because of bad handling and misuse.

    Same shit with mine to can't get it to work same shit it was working good. I. Guees. The. Fucking. Chromecast probably caught Coronavirus. I. Guees im thinking we gonna start having to buy something extra to get access it's all about money and if they can make you buy something extra the more richer they get like when RUclips was free now you got to pay for movies and whatever

      I ended up calling Google support and it worked for a while...then it didn't. Haven't messed with it since. Give them a call.

      @@rmp5s When I first bought Chromecast years ago I was able to connect to WiFi in seconds. I then switched to Ethernet adapter to save WiFi bandwidth and it was smooth sailing. Now years later there is certain things I can't cast anymore and they said I needed a firmware update. Found out you can't update firmware through Ethernet. You can't make any device changes through Ethernet. I had to do a factory reset and set up through WiFi all over again. During set up it keeps spinning when I try to connect to my WiFi network. I never get to the prompt to enter network password. Whats wrong with this thing?
