    Pretty much comes down to if you like physical or virtual sliders. Sure the VST support on the wave link is nice, but the routing table on the GoXLR is so much easier for Console integration

    there are so many variables to this choice. If you have a 15 key stream deck, the Wave Link pages are amazing for volume control and audio adjustment on the fly. The price point of the Wave XLR has me hesitant to hook up my XLR mic since it costs the same as a Wave 3.

    • @Jacqie
      @Jacqie  3 года назад +3

      This is true, but I chose to handle this as a what if you don't have a streamdeck and even some people with a streamdeck don't make full use of it.

      So True! The ease of use of the GoXLR is much better than the WaveXLR. The fact that you have to download and install pluggins to do the same makes it harder and more time consuming compared to setup with the GoXLR.

    I really miss that reviewers would talk about the goxlr mini's phantom power which is only at 24v unlike it's older brother the regular goxlr.
    Yes, there are a few condenser microphones that can take 24v, but that really limits the possibilities.
    And how is it e.g. with cloudlifter for a dynamic on goxlr mini? I thought all cloudlifters were set for 48v? What is the purpose of only 24v phantom power?
    I really want the goxlr mini, but this is holding me back and I can't choose.

    • @Jacqie
      @Jacqie  Год назад

      Most dynamic mics won't need a cloudlifter with the GoXLR mini and if you want to be on the safe side the Rode Podmic and Rode Procaster both sound really good on the GoXLR mini and you don't need a cloudlifter and since they are dynamic you don't need phantom power.
      I would say work around the limitations to be safe. Don't buy Condenser mics to be safe and if you are a streamer then dynamics are usually better since they pick up less room noise and keyboards etc.

    • @Jacqie

      The GoXLR also has plenty of gain I have seen people use gain hungry mics like the SM-7B and it worked although not ideal. I would stick to the Shure MV7, Podmic or Procaster with this interface and you will have amazing audio

    • @Jacqie

      Both will work extremely well with the Shure SM7B as they both have enough gain to power it. It comes down to budget, use and the look you want. The physical faders I like more on the GoXLR mini, but the size and clean look of the WaveXLR is also nice

    I use the Wave 3 with Wave Link and there is horrible audio delay. So since the WaveXLR uses the same software, I can assume there will be the same delay. For me this means anything using Wave Link should be avoided. I bought mine recently to save money and regret it. The delay is horrible.
    Also Wave Link still doesn't have VST support to this date (9/11/2021). Until the delay is fixed though, it doesn't matter, once I find a good replacement I will never use Wave Link again.

      Never had a delay with 3 of my Wave:3's. Sounds like you may have some audio driver issues, or could even be the device driver/wave link isn't installed correctly. You should reach out to Elgato support next time (if you didn't before). They are awesome at helping.

    Thank for the Vid, amazing content. I already own the Wave XLR but I am thinking of switching to the GoXLR mini. I am having such a rough time tuning my MV7 with the VST plugins that are now available. All the guides I come across are SMB7 with Wave XLR or MV7 with GoXLR lol.. I am guessing that the setup is easier with this mic if your on the GoXLR.
    Also I am finding that the reaper plugins are adding a lot of unwanted noise/hollowness to my mic. Is anyone else experiencing this?

    • @Jacqie
      @Jacqie  2 года назад +1

      One thing I can say is that when you add EQ you need to try and EQ specifically for that mics frequency response curve. A lot of people do generic EQ and that could make a mic sound hollow or too boomy. If you are adding plugins like noise reduction etc that could also lead to the mic sounding hollow if you add too much of that or set them too harshly. I would suggest buying the mini and testing it out and seeing if the results are the same and if it is then at least you could still return it. If you are having a lot of trouble reach out on twitter via dm then I could try help
