Hi everyone, its been over a year since we installed this Reolink 8CH 5MP PoE Turret & NVR System. This video is an update and review of the entire system plus an additional Reolink 8MP Poe Camera. We wanted to test the Reolink system for a minimum of 12 months before our final conclusion. So make sure to watch until the end of the video for our review. Thanks for watching I really appreciate it.
Since you're looking for tips, a very, very common mistake when aiming cameras is to point them to include something of no security value. You have your patio camera partially pointing at a wall on the left side of the screen when you could aim it to the right a little and include something worthwhile. You have a beautiful house.
You haven't located the cameras in the best location there shouldn't be any obstruction in the field of view. As you can see in the night footage the IR lighting is hitting of the roof and causing the footage to be washed out!
I wanted to say the same! That's one of the common mistakes installing cameras. I think he should rollback the move and put them lower. I prefer to see the cable and a good image than no cable but a black image where there is the most important zone to monitor. Man, who cares of cables?
I checked out two of your videos and they are fantastic and you've convinced me to purchase and install myself. I'm in Canada so usually we have a conduit running to the basement up the attic so fishing shouldn't be too bad. I'm an HVAC tech as well so I do fishing regularly. Thank you for making the time to educate us! Love the drone shots by the way. Clever!
Installatin on the camera at 5:38 is reeeally bad in night. IR is blasting the roof and wall and you see nothing what it's supposed to. That is a bad installation brother.
How many days of footage does it save round about and does it record only the feeds that you're using? I need 2 cameras but need to have at least a weeks footage saved for a commercial property. Also there will be no internet as I don't want to pay monthly for something I might only need 3 years from now. Would this be a good system for that use case in your opinion? I'm actually eyeing the 5mp camera system the offer. Just need to see who's semi truck keeps crashing into my mechanical gate.
Thanks Ray! We tried to put in as much information as possible without the video being too long. I have quite a few videos on Reolink so make sure to check them out. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
Good review and great timing, I'm thinking about doing a similar set up and maybe adding some indoor cams too. Did you use the cat5 cables that come with the kit? Do the cameras have an indicator light when recording? Do they make noise when switching to night vision?
I have these cameras... my main complaint is how easy they are to tamper with... you can literally just walk up to these cameras and twist it to disable/foil/compromise the field of view; these cameras must be mounted HIGH to thwart compromising; the reolink doorbell camera is better... with the doorbell camera you would have to rip it down or cover it with tape to disable... these turret cameras you can just walk up to it and twist it to compromise/disable/ foil field of view unless it it is mounted out of arms reach.
Hi ,not sure but I think the camera recording your neighbor window can get you in trouble.I used to install security system and we were not allayed to point them to neighbors windows.
Yes. For instance we were in Greece and we could view our cameras whenever we wanted over cellular data or wifi. Thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well!
The point of on site storage is that no one can ease drop on your cameras and see when you are coming and going. If someone stole my NVR it would be pretty useless because it's just video footage of outside my house and my footage is erased evey 2 weeks. Cloud storage can be hacked and it has happened with Nest cameras so for me it's a NO for safety concerns, especially since these systems are mostly made in China. Thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well!
@@UltimateTechHub It would not be useless at all. You see, if a burglar breaks into your house and takes the NVR, then you have no way to retrieve the video evidence that could be used against him. That's the easiest way to defeat this security system - steal the NVR along with anything else you want to take.
@@JoyneFreedom That could be true but my video system sends me notices about any outside movements so I would know something is happening in real time and of course my phone keeps a copy of the footage which is stored on my phone and not the cloud. I also have a ring doorbell that sends push notifications and other cameras as well. I'm not worried about someone trying to break in because I'm home all day and night. The large NRA sticker on my windows is the best warning!
@@UltimateTechHub I did not know that you could get the information also copied to your phone in real time! Is that true? Without going through the internet? How is that possible to get the information onto your phone without going through the Internet? Could you please explain?
@@JoyneFreedom I have a bunch of videos on this Reolink system so make sure to watch them all. FYI.. each camera has an additional SD card slot that can store up 128 gb of video so if the NVR is somehow stolen then your cameras have all the video footage which is pretty cool. The reolink app on your phone connects to the NVR through the internet to your local network which your system is connected to. The footage you view is stored on your NVR and can be replayed on your phones app and even stored on your phone and also screenshots too. The client software on your laptop or PC can essentially do the same thing but it has many more features. You can set up your cameras for push notification's when there is movement in certain fields of view which can be customized to prevent false alarms like trees moving or cars. I hope this helps with your questions. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
Why does the camera have recording storage if the nvr records the feeds? What's the difference? Can you easily log in from any computer/tablet to watch the feeds from anywhere in the house?
The camera storage is just extra storage to go along with the nvr. You can view the cameras from your Desktop PC, tablet, laptop or phone. You just download the software and type in your password and you can live view the cameras or review recorded video.
You add 128gb, possibly 256gb, of storage and record from the camera, process the feed and view it without the use of an nvr. Or you can connect to an nvr option for higher storage capacity.
I just ordered a bundle and it did not come with long ethernet cables, whats up with that!?!? Isn’t it supposed to come with long ethernet cables to install the poe cameras?
It definitely should have come with the bundles of CAT5e cables. Where did you order it from? I would contact the company to have then send you the bundles of Ethernet cables. The cables are pretty flimsy though I ended up using some cat6a and cat6 riser cable instead. Thank you for watching and keep me posted if they resolve your issue.

It will save at least 30 days of footage. It depends on how many cameras and the recording video quality.
Owned a Reolink system for 2 years, works great.
I've had mine for about 2 years and love it. Before that I had a Lorex system and it gave me fits.

It's not directly recording it just partially. Can't avoid that because our houses ate so close. Thank you for watching.
you can't get in trouble for that. They should close their blinds or something
awesome review,! question i have is can you view the cameras via the mobile app while your away from home over cellular network?

@@UltimateTechHub what about pc?
@donyx8889 yes on pc.
Can you share the camera feeds with more mobile app users, and if yes, how many? Can you share each camera individually with each user?
You can share the app with multiple users but not individual cameras.
Does the 4:3 aspect ratio matter?
Why does the camera need a flash card?
Does it work without the card?
If I'm recording to the NVR.. why would I need to record at the camera?
It works without the SD if you have an NVR.
@@UltimateTechHub Thank you
Questions how do you set your cameras quality for smooth audio and video for 5mp?
Which is best? Lorex or reolink?
Reolink hands down. I've used both and Reolink is much better. Better software and better quality products.

2 Small screws and 2 small drywall anchors. Here's the install video. ruclips.net/video/lTFnfluyWsY/видео.html
