    If the security camera offers more memory flexibility with use of a micro sd card would one be able to use a switch instead of an nvr and plug the switch directly to a router? Then use the cameras app to access live feed, recordings, etc.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  10 месяцев назад +4

      If your cameras have the capability to record directly to a microSD card and provide a way to access the recordings remotely, you can potentially bypass the need for an NVR. But please be aware that MicroSD cards may have limited storage capacity compared to dedicated hard drives in an NVR. The amount of footage you can store depends on the size of the microSD cards and how often you overwrite old recordings.

      You should look at the number of channels, resolution, bandwidth and bitrate, compression, storage capacity, recording modes, ONVIF compatibility, remote access, and user interface.

    Wow, that was extremely concise and informative, thank you. May I ask, how many HD or 4K cameras can operate across a single CAT6 cable? For instance, CAT6 from PoE switch to NVR.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  5 месяцев назад +5

      CAT6 cables can support up to 10Gbps but typically operate at 1Gbps over distances up to 100 meters. The bandwidth requirement per camera depends on the resolution and frame rate at which the camera records. For example:
      A 1080p HD camera might use about 4 Mbps (Megabits per second).
      A 4K camera might use around 20 Mbps or more, depending on the codec and frame rate.
      Also, you need to ensure the PoE switch can provide adequate power for all the cameras. Standard PoE (IEEE 802.3af) can supply up to 15.4 watts per port, whereas PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) can supply up to 30 watts per port.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  2 месяца назад

      First, you need to assign a static IP and set up port forwarding for remote access. Then, find your public IP address by searching “What is my IP” on Google or checking your router’s status page.
      On a remote PC, open a web browser and enter your public IP address followed by the forwarded port. For example, if your public IP is 123.456.789.101 and your HTTP port is 8080, you would enter: 123.456.789.101:8080.
      Next, use your NVR’s login credentials to access the live view and settings.

    You said "POE switch support various IP devices beyond IP cameras". Suppose in addition to IP cameras, home survillance system has a IP door bell. How this syatem with NVR will cater this ip door bell?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  Месяц назад

      Some modern NVRs come with the ability to add various smart home devices, including IP doorbells, through ONVIF or custom integration. If your NVR supports it, you can view the video stream from the doorbell directly on the NVR’s interface along with the cameras. Many IP doorbells support RTSP, allowing you to access the live video feed. The NVR can capture and record this feed if configured properly.

    When you keep mentioning civilian in your description, are you referring to civilian vs military which is what that would mean? Or are you referring to civilian as residential as in residential vs commercial? Until, here, I have never heard referenced as you do civilian so often. As if there is some often made choice between civilian vs. military. Which is why I ask if you are referring to residential with civilian. Perhaps the Chinese have to make distinct distinctions between civilian and military? In the US, we do this with military grade equipment referring to equipment that is always more robust with less capability for failure. Of course, that makes it more costly. With some exception, anytime military standards are met by a product being offered to civilians, it gets mentioned.
    Or, perhaps you mention this often due to the US government's ban on certain Chinese made equipment in US government installations? I just have never heard the term civilian used so often integrated into a presentation as you have. And was only curious. You did a fine job, I'm not being critical, just curious as to why so often in your video you felt the need to reference civilian and thus what civilian means to you.
    Had yours been a presentation with a need to make the distinction and often, I could understand. Maybe it is? Thanks.

    What is the best option for Poe camera direct to hdmi monitor. I don't require recording just live view?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  4 месяца назад

      Most IP cameras come with software or apps that might be able to cast or stream directly to a monitor. The computer can access the camera stream using appropriate software (like VLC or proprietary software from the camera manufacturer), and then output via its HDMI to the monitor.

    If I wanted to live stream HD onto RUclips, what internet speeds is necessary?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  2 месяца назад

      If you plan to stream at 1080p (Full HD), an upload speed of at least 8 Mbps is recommended. However, aiming for 10-12 Mbps would provide a buffer.
      Here are the general upload speed requirements for different HD resolutions: 720p (HD): at least 5 Mbps ; 2K Streaming: at least 20 Mbps; 4K Streaming: at least 35 Mbps

    Most Cameras come with its own NVR, with built-in PoE. It's the software, settings that I need for the camera. It's not easy to find stand-alone NVR to match with Cameras and PoE Switch, not compatible for software settings.

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  2 месяца назад

      Generally, the manufacturer will provide compatible software for your cameras if they're vendor-specific. You can also use third-party software such as Blue Iris, VLC Media Player, and iSpy if your camera is onvif-compatible.

    Which is the best method will use with 16channel/16 ip camera

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  7 месяцев назад +4

      For a 16-channel/16 IP camera setup, using a PoE NVR simplifies cabling and power management directly through the NVR. However, if you require more flexibility with camera placement or extended distances beyond what the PoE NVR supports, pairing a standard NVR with a separate PoE switch is the way to go.

    if using poe switch + nvr, it will reduce the processing data burden of nvr (it will not torture the nvr)? or it is the same between poe switch+nvr compare with poe nvr ?

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  7 месяцев назад +5

      The key point is that whether cameras are connected directly to the NVR or through a PoE switch, the NVR's processing load is primarily influenced by the number of cameras, their resolution, frame rate, and the complexity of any additional processing (motion detection, analytics, etc.). The method of connection (direct or through a switch) does not significantly change the processing demands on the NVR.

      It's all up to you! The PoE switch offers greater flexibility as your system expands, allowing you to easily add more devices. However, if you're only installing 2-3 cameras, a PoE NVR is a more cost-effective solution, as it eliminates the need to purchase a separate NVR.

      Yes, it is possible. Connect your cameras to the external PoE switch using Ethernet cables. Configure the camera to use Ethernet as the primary connection for data (to the PoE switch) and Wi-Fi as a secondary or redundant connection.

    Can I connect both together since the poe switch doesn't have a hard drive memory? Or what is the best solution? Thanks. I like your videos!!!

    • @Fastcabling
      @Fastcabling  10 месяцев назад +4

      Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you find the information helpful. Yes, you can connect a PoE switch and a PoE NVR together in a security camera system, but there are some important considerations to keep in mind:
      When you connect an 8-port PoE switch to a 4-channel PoE NVR, the PoE NVR will be able to record video footage from all cameras connected through the PoE switch. However, when viewing live feeds, you might be restricted to monitoring up to four cameras simultaneously on the NVR's interface. So it would be better to connect the PoE switch to a standalone NVR.
      For small to medium-sized systems with a limited number of cameras, a PoE NVR can be a convenient all-in-one solution. For larger systems, or if you already have a network infrastructure, a PoE switch might be more suitable. The PoE switch allows for easier scalability by adding more switches, while the PoE NVR might have limitations on the number of cameras it can support.
