Here is the old write-up for the program. Groups can be all adult, mixed youth/adult, as well as built from Mavericks. We can group individual folks or smaller groups together to make the requisite 8 riders if need be. You don’t have to be a Scout to participate, but I expect you to live by the Scout Oath and Law while on trail.

Hi Bob how much does it cost to take care of a horse for a year.
Also, the Wooded Beardsman will be out later this season for a survival challenge along these trails and throughout the remote canyons and peaks. This is truly an astoundingly amazing place.
Nice. Can't wait to see it
if there ever is an apocalypse I really hope I run into these two , cause I may be able to claw though a week or two in the wild. but with these two leading we all would be a force.
Bob be careful, the Wooded Beardsman might eat your horses...I wish I could come out and ride with y'all but I'm disabled. I was a wrangler for a YoungLife Camp in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina back when I was in college.
Bet you have some stories to tell.
@@BobHansler That was at Windy Gap back in the early 80's
Recently, I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in the Cavalcade program and I CANNOT recommend it enough!
I went in with a co-ed high adventure group during early March before quarantine. The sights are amazing, the horses are awesome, and the history of the surrounding area (especially Circle H) is incredible! We had Bob & Shauna as our wranglers and they taught us so much about the land; they are truly the best! I learned so much from this experience and hope to be able to return in the near future.
In conclusion, this is a phenomenal program that should be preserved, so PLEASE consider participating in/donating to it!
Eagle Scout here and BTSR was one of my first and by-far favorite Boy Scout camps, especially the horse program! My brother even went and did Cavalcade the next year and loved it. The Davis Mountains/BTSR will always hold a special place in my heart for its beauty (even though we had huge flash floods) and I hope that you’re able to keep up such life-changing program. Non-scout people should ABSOLUTELY take this opportunity to experience it themselves!
I went to BTSR many years ago, I will never forget Ranger Dan with his machete, hacking up watermelons and yelling at us kids. I participated in the horsemanship/riding that was provided at the time, I was assigned a Paint named Comanche. I hope we get some good rain here soon, it is a literal tinderbox at the moment.
Back behind the line of death you terrible little troll!
Hahaha, the line of death was legendary! Thank you for continuing on with the old ways and teaching the new generations. I wish you good luck in your endeavors!
As a former scout and wildlife fan I really enjoy your videos @Bob Handler. Thanks for posting all your videos and sharing your knowledge with us.
Best of luck to you and yours,Bob! Those saddle bags are awesome!
Bob you are truly a genuine person!!!! You are the real deal.
Been watching for a while now and I have to say you have my utmost respect. Not only running a RUclips channel, but taking care of a whole program and a large herd. Not to mention the survival knowledge you have. Who knows what else ya got going on but good luck in everything Bob. Stay safe.
That sounds AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just donated, if everybody could pitch in even a little it would help Bob & his family alot... Keep up the amazing videos!
Respect from Canada Bob , you are truly dedicated to helping the young ones see and experience history , never let it go !!! Thank you for you’re dedication !!

Right on man you're doing a good thing here. Sounds like a blast. Keep on writing that good story. Makes me proud to be a Texan.

We do too!
Love your vids bob. Definitely my favorite channel!
Aye I went to BTSR a couple times while I was in scouts. Unfortunately never ended up doing the mountain man or horsemanship programs, but I got to do the climbing program instead. Probably my favorite camp other than Philmont of course. Loved the sunrise hike and trail hikes. Beautiful country and an awesome ranch glad it’s getting some exposure through you.
Glad to see you back making vids they are the best!!!!
Good luck Bob I’m too far away mate all the best good luck 👍👍🇬🇧
Hello from Detroit Michigan prayers for you and your family
Oohhh I wish I could but there’s a loooong way from Denmark and also I cannot afford much. So I will have to dream of this.
Hope all is well for you and your loved ones.
Stay safe and healthy!
I like this channel! ❤️
Good to see you BACK love you
Looks like a lot of fun.
Hope you get your funding.
It is good to work with the hands.
Thank you for the great vid, Bob. God bless you!
This is a great project bro. Id like to have a set of leather saddle bags for my scout bike. 😃🍺
A bit low on funds due to being laid off...but if i am able to find another job in the next 2 months i will definitely try to get out there. It is a bucket list item for me to do something like that
Im just a city guy wanting to experience this. Wish i had these badges and riding time 😣
I would do it, as long there is abundant water for hydration. I'm not in Texas, yet. I live in Tulsa, Ok, but plan on taking a job at Ft. Hood in the next month. I look forward to moving to Texas. I have more family and friends there.
lmao if wheelbarrows and shovels build character i should be in the running for a saint hahaha just kidding. it really does help kids learn responsibility.
Dang wish I could join you. I grew up riding horses in the country side. Unfortunately I can't because of all the stuff going on right now. Maybe Next year.
Dammit! I wanna do this so bad but I'm just a kid in Australia that's never been to Texas or even America. I do hope to do this when I'm older though so wait out Bob! Good luck and be safe all
Your dad was my teacher in yorktown school
I missed out on the rides :( youtube is bad about not letting you know right away when someone posts a new video. Id love to join next year. My wife and I
Wish I could brother.
Man! I have ALWAYS wanted to do this! If my husband and I lost a little weight, we'd get a group together with no problem. We don't live far from the Davis Mountains.
That’d be fantastic. It’s rugged terrain. You definitely want to be light and healthy back there.
It would be cool if those you helped out in the past like Zach Fowler and The bearded woodsman would post this or talk about it.
I WANT TO LEARN OF HORSE!
Hi, I stumbled on you and learning alot of skills from you, heard your eyes are having problems, have not heard what happened but if you have not taken eyebright supplement everyday and higher vitamin e, it's amazing stuff. Any questions just send me message on here, all my best
It seems to be happening regularly. What is your time frame to be there?
Just shared this to Jacksonville, FL.
Really enjoy everything you do.
Any way to donate?
I'm stuck in Jax for a few months, but I'd like to.....oh...you just mentioned it in the video!!!
Even if I can't get away, I'd like to help you keep this going. Keep updating on the PayPal account, or I'll just bank transfer.
I can help quite a few join you that are available.
Just got your E-mail. I’ll work on a gofundme this evening with the needed details and information. I’ll get it all together, one step at a time. Thank you.
👍👍👍👍👍
Could you please please do a vidio on your knife! I'm dieting to know more about it. Looks like it has alot of history behind it.
I’ll do it on the side channel Zbarely Survival soon!
I didnt even know you had a side channel. Heading over to sub now!
👍🇺🇸
Also do you bring revolver to have fun and shoot in the open field?
Bob when you coming back to kenndy tx
I wanted to ask you s question on your rattlesnakes video can you use rubbing alcohol as a substitute for isopropyl alcohol
I am unsure. I had thought they were the same. I might have to look into it, but I can’t give a solid answer other than probablyish.
Thanks for the content Bob. I sincerely appreciate you. I have something I want to give you do you have a post box or something I we can send snail mail to?
Do you charge?
Question for Bob how much does it cost to take care of a horse for the year?
Depends upon the horse and the year. In good years, the grasses can keep a herd healthy with little management. Vet bills vary, but we have some amazing volunteers that help to keep the cost down with that as well.
On full feed on base it can cost 2-3 dollars a head each day to keep the herd fed. We need rain, they’ll need supplements this year out in the pastures. Have to get them fed or many will be auctioned shortly.
Hi Bob I'm gonna see what I can do by end of the month. How can I contact you or mail something to you for the horses without going this route? This way is all new to me. Rather send in the mail. Thank you.
Man, I'm an 15 yo Indonesian, I always wonder how it feels to do this kind of thing, I wish I was born in texas T_T
