    What I find most fascinating about this video is your abilities to work with Electronics. Where did you pick up that Skillset? Later

    I have a wine cooler I have opened and called or dealers for help in rewiring the cooler to stay but they won't rewire it for me...Go figure so I will rewire the heater and fan only to a thermostat for now.... Enjoy you videos and watching your family join in..Hope your off grid living goes well for your family..

    Nice work converting that into an incubator, those things aren't cheap to buy new. Hope it works well for you.

      I hope it works too. Hopefully we can get our quail setup ready and test it out soon. Thanks for watching!

    Great idea!!! It should work well, can't wait to see what your hatch rate is. Thanks for sharing :)

    I'm in the process of figuring out what to do for next year chicken egg hatching. I'm so sick of styrofoam incubator's, my hatch rates are terrible and am looking at ideas for next season hatching. In a previous comment you said you were going to be hatching chicken eggs, was wondering if you have done it yet? Also what was the hatch rate you encountered? Please an thank you

    Super great video. Would cutting and flipping the wires coming from the Peltier have the same effect as separating the heatsink and flipping it over?

    • @diyfferent

      Yes, it would reverse the effect, but I have heard that it shortens the life of the Peltier device. Not sure if there is any truth to that.

      One more thought process validation. The circuit board on your cooler appears 100% match to mine. I measured 22VAC coming off the +/_ of the circuit board going to the peltier. I think you cut the jumper to the right of C10 for control. If correct my thought, in reference to the heating connections on the STC-1000, I should be able to connect one leg of the peltier in series (port 5&6)?

      I'm sorry for missing this. I'd have to open mine back up to take a look at it. It should be a 10.5v DC going to the peltier, at least I thought it was. I did do some modification to the board but overall I remember grounding out the white wire that leads to the thermostat to make the heater always on. Then I took the power line for the peltier and sent it through my thermostat to switch it on and off. I changed some things around so the outer fan would come on with the peltier but the inner fan would always be on.

      Got mine up and running. For humidity I drilled a hole and ran a hose for a chicken waterer. Will see what happens in 22 days!

    Awesome video! I just picked up a used wine cooler to do the same. It's been a while since you posted the video. Have you tested it with quail eggs?

    • @diyfferent
      @diyfferent  6 лет назад

      Yep, we tested it with quail eggs and it did work. We did not have a great hatch-rate, but that was probably due to the fact that most of the eggs arrived in the mail cracked. But it did work great otherwise! We will be using it to hatch chicken eggs at some point. I have a video showing the quails hatching here: ruclips.net/video/nYcSEyT3Ja4/видео.html
