Hey Matt how can we speak?? I have some questions... I've been talking to Sean Bradley but I want to get info from you, Brian B, and all the OGs... I want to soak it all in and put everything together for when I actually start breeding..
Funny you uploaded this video as I am building my incubator from an old fridge. In fact the same fridge just in white. And it too sat on my porch for the past year.lol I also have the same fan. Thanks for the upload.
Just a humble note, you may have already considered. There is a direct venting between freezer and fridge. You will have to seal that when you start using the upper. A huge suggestion for the diy electrician is AFCI protection. Heaters and water and 120v power can be major fire hazards. AFCI protection is designed to save homes and lives.
and gcfi protection within 6 feet running water or where hand operated tools are utilized. None of them are expensive. They can be implemented at the receptacle level and can prevent major tragedy.
Thank you guys! I look forward to your videos as much or more than anyone. I never miss one, and I've gone back and watched as many as I can. I am informed, I learn, and I am truly inspired each time I watch. S, please, from a true fan, keep it up. I've used so many of your ideas in my racks, in my plans, and in so many other ways. Look at my page on facebook, and you're sure to see some of this. Anthony Harrell Reptiles. So, hopefully this is what you were wanting to hear. I don't know where I'd be if you didn't keep me inspired to keep pushing forward. Especially when things haven't gone as I was expecting or wanting them to. I'm currently building a Coca-Cola incubator. I wanted the clear glass so that I could see inside at all times to read my heat and humidity. Plus, kind of like yours, I wanted to be able to use dry erase markers on the glass to keep notes directly on the device itself. Its Awesome we were thinking on the same wave length. Granted I'm still one season away, but I think I've got a good foundation to build on. If you find the time, your comments on what I'm doing would be great. You guys are great! Keep it up! Anthony Harrell
snakereptiledaddy1 thanks for the feedback! question girl is the one who truly fuels my fire in helping keep me motivated when things get tough. we will check out your page, and love your idea on the coke incubator. my best advice is to surround yourself with people who believe in your dreams. they will lift you up when the journey gets tough.
I would put the fan on a plug in timer so it turns on when ever you want to run as long or short as you need it. just a thought. that's what I did to mine.
I love watching each and every one of your videos, no matter how novice the topic because of the personality you bring to the table. Also, the fact that no matter how many years I've been at this (I think 24 years now since my first BP now) there is always a new little idea/tip to learn from someone else who has their own creative mind trying to problem solve and improve their husbandry and techniques. Thanks so much for doing these videos. I hope to do some of my own some day but I've got a lot of practice to do with being entertaining and enthusiastic to a camera :P
better clean those seals inside and out with chlorine or strong mold killer like tilex. 1 spore can ruin a clutch or a whole season. fridges grow mold well anyway, now we add heat and boom. I have a similar incubator, but used a glass door coke fridge. totally removed the seal and found lots of mold under. better safe than sorry. best of luck this season.
i like ur videos brotha u go in depth on not simple but the lil things its kewl i absolutely love watchn brian from bhb n thats wut helpd find u. keep it up
you guys have an awesome channel going on can't wait to see what you guys produce this year awesome growth and development of your collection big fan and supporter of the "average Joe breeders" love the passion
Awesome job with the incubator Matt ! Question Girl had a GREAT idea by painting the fridge with chalkboard paint also. I bet that incubator would be AMAZING for the Dwarf Caimin as well... seeing how the sex of the Caimins is dependent on temp. You could use the fridge section for incubating females & the freezer section for incubating males... that's a GENIUS idea ...excuse me, now I gotta tear my mini fridge apart Ha Ha Ha... keep up the GOOD work, love the videos.
Sergio McDole oh I agree it is! it certainly takes Crocs a long time to get mature. one in the house is all I really have room for. no way I can fit two without being cruel. now, if I get a separate facility one day, I very well might breed caimans!
I completely understand... although it takes crocks/gators/Caimin longer to mature, they need a lot more space which is one I haven't acquired a dwarf Caimin yet ...also the northwest isn't the best place for reptiles in the winter. Once I more somewhere warmer I'll set up an enclosure.
This is awesome brother... Good job!!! Keep it up, I've been watching your videos for some time now and I have to say, I look forward to the next one!!!
Cheers guys, another inspirational video :p, I had a thought, regarding humidityHave you ever considered putting a fish tank heater into the water? I felt the heat coming off the water at a tropical fish shop and it was quite warm surely 100% humidity too.??
you do know. that if you wanted. you can take off your door Hinges . & . put them on the other side of your door.to make the doors open on the other side in less then 10 minutes & it would make it easer for you to get in & out of
Albert Ramirez valid concern. I don't think we will get condensation inside the incubator. I have been using open water sources to hold heat and humidity for a few years. definitely will be worth keeping an eye on. all the clips are covered with insulation, so we should be OK.
AerotheVampire buy em from tallgrass, lol. no, I am far from a carpenter. if I was going to build I would use a heat cable in a routered channel on each shelf. then set my tub down, place CDs on the corners of the Ton for spacers, add the next shelf. just keep going up like that.
Olympus Reptiles thank you i appreciate the info and advice! i am just getting started so im still learning where to get everything and how to do most of it
Looks great. Id recommend not doing the whole water in the bottom tubs.. Unless all your electronics are 100% waterproof. The high humidity will kill a pc fan faster than it took you to install it.. They do make waterproof fans, something like this thehouseofhydro.com/store/p96/Hydro-Flow_Pro_Waterproof_Fan_Kits.html yes more expensive than a 7.00 pc fan, but the humidity wont kill this one.. There are other brands out there, you dont need to go with this brand.. But again Id recommend you either change to a waterproof fan, or dont use the two tubs of water in the bottom of the incubator.
SDReptiles the fan is just size of a PC fan, but is made for incubators. we ran it empty for several weeks and now has first clutch of the year. egg box temp 90, humidity,99. zero condensation in box as humidity inside box and outside box are not greatly different. it is working like a charm so far.
Shaun Douglass thanks! one day I want this to supplement my retirement but that is aways off. for now, all of our funds go right back to the animals and expanding etc. I literally keep 0 dollars for me. they have their own bank account.
jeremiah tanner not sure what we will do this year yet, really depends on production and time off work. k.c. will be a for sure a few times, maybe Daytona Beach, maybe Tinley (fall). looking into shows in Missouri (other than k.c.), Iowa, Colorado, Nebraska, and Oklahoma as well.
Like and sub people. Help him out.
RockIslandguy thanks man!

You guys rock! The chalkboard paint on the fridge was a great idea!
Denise Dupree thanks!

Going Yooper awesome! this one was white, but everything has to be purple
Man the chalk board paint idea is dope and I'm definitely doing it

Keith Vaccato yes, I am aware of the connection, and do plan on sealing it before using freezer section. probably going to fill with expanding foam.
great update, nice
keishapet thanks!

Sergio McDole thanks man! that would work awesome for gator eggs. however, not sure if I will ever get into caiman breeding.
Yeah, your Caimin is still young also... I was just thinking out loud. It's a great idea though.
Sergio McDole oh I agree it is! it certainly takes Crocs a long time to get mature. one in the house is all I really have room for. no way I can fit two without being cruel. now, if I get a separate facility one day, I very well might breed caimans!

great info
You got me to start looking after ball pythons and breeding them so thank you
This is awesome brother... Good job!!! Keep it up, I've been watching your videos for some time now and I have to say, I look forward to the next one!!!
Walter Hernandez thanks man! we will have more for sure!
No radioactive spider bites? You let me down man. lol
Jay Kayrouz sorry brother,I will try harder
Just busting balls Matt. I love your channel. I'm anxious to see more Sobek vids!
Jay Kayrouz o know, and thank you. currently gathering some Sobek feeding footage.
Cheers guys, another inspirational video :p, I had a thought, regarding humidityHave you ever considered putting a fish tank heater into the water? I felt the heat coming off the water at a tropical fish shop and it was quite warm surely 100% humidity too.??
Seane shiftit honestly not a bad idea.
You heard it here first! Lol ;) ;)
you do know. that if you wanted. you can take off your door Hinges . & . put them on the other side of your door.to make the doors open on the other side in less then 10 minutes & it would make it easer for you to get in & out of
yes, however it is really easy now unless I have a ton of people in the room and am filming, so I haven't worried about it.
take off the inside of the doors and just put a piece of plastic flat tub paneling so you can get the hole use of the incubator
trenton mcpherson not a bad idea! we may eventually do that.
do you like the really bright snakes or the really dark snakes more? or does it depend? if so then on what?
keep up the good work!
Adam Nelson it really just depends on what catches my eye. I enjoy contrast that's for sure though.
How has adding the snake room affected the power demand for your building? Any mods to your panel required to meet the demand?
So after a season of using the incubator would you do anything different? I have my fridge I’m about to convert to an incinerator
Nope, it worked great. If I was making another one I would look for a stand up freezer so it is all one chamber.
I was wondering if there's any concern with the moisture and bus bars on the heat tape? or condensation and the electrical current.
Albert Ramirez valid concern. I don't think we will get condensation inside the incubator. I have been using open water sources to hold heat and humidity for a few years. definitely will be worth keeping an eye on. all the clips are covered with insulation, so we should be OK.
OK cool. I like the idea
i was wondering if you have any tips on building racks?
AerotheVampire buy em from tallgrass, lol. no, I am far from a carpenter. if I was going to build I would use a heat cable in a routered channel on each shelf. then set my tub down, place CDs on the corners of the Ton for spacers, add the next shelf. just keep going up like that.

Sorry but how long did it take for your tall grass snake rack came in
Bruce Wayne I had it delivered at a show.
Can you tell me from where did you get the isolator clips?
Adam Balog the clips came with the heat tape. ordered from bean farm.
Thanks for Your help! I found them! :)
Is this a full time job or a hobby that has grown?
Shaun Douglass just a hobby right now.
Olympus Reptiles good stuff! I'm from the UK and looking to getting into the hobby myself, keep up the good work 👍🏻
Shaun Douglass thanks! one day I want this to supplement my retirement but that is aways off. for now, all of our funds go right back to the animals and expanding etc. I literally keep 0 dollars for me. they have their own bank account.
what rep shows do you set up at ?
jeremiah tanner not sure what we will do this year yet, really depends on production and time off work. k.c. will be a for sure a few times, maybe Daytona Beach, maybe Tinley (fall). looking into shows in Missouri (other than k.c.), Iowa, Colorado, Nebraska, and Oklahoma as well.
Where are you. Do you have any pied
Not right now. In Kansas
so its ok to use clorox wipes to clean it out?
Yup
Test with chicken eggs or something like that. Find if you can get a few fertile eggs from someone with a chicken! Don't sacrifice a baby ball!!
Johnny Julz we will test with empty tubs, making sure heat and humidity is solid. as long as tub is good, should be fine.
I would love to bread can I pick your brain from time to time ?
sure, just message us on facebook.
