- I built an egg incubator to hatch ball python eggs. I want to share some tips with the community. This involves electricity and that comes with inherent risks so please use common sense and be cautious.
Shop STC 1000 temperature controller: amzn.to/2lqnHTp
Check out a past video where I connected heat tape to a controller.
• DIY Ball Python Rack
Skip to 24:00 for soldering wires to heat tape
Skip to 31:10 to wire and install the controller
You can also refer to an older video where I built an incubator out of a styrofoam box.
• Pastel Candino x Albin...
I’m going to start working on an incubator like the one you have.
Great ideas and looks great. Thank you so much for sharing.
I;m in the process of making 2 of those... Thanks for the great ideas and help!
Calissa ObviouslyCannotDecide Reptiles NP. Let me know how they turn out
I will try to remember to do that - I know I will make a video... Good clear instruction on your wiring so I think i can do that part now and not be scared. I learn by videos instead of reading instruction! Your was excellent!!! Thanks again for sharing...
gonna need to build one of these soon, hopefully will have a clutch or two within the next year
Looks good with great ideas.
If you leave the fan that's already on the fridge it has vents on mine that circulate the air but still unsure weather to leave them on all the time because wouldn't they over heat
You can probably find the wire that power the fan, then just add on a plug and a timer. Or rip out the original fans and install PC fans.
@@LucasLandonRoyals I did just that I put a new plug on it and use it by switching the plug on and off but I was thinking about putting it on a timer so it goes on and off every few hours once it's up to temperature
I put a small desk fan in my incubator. It's on a timer. It cycles 3 hrs on 1 hr off.
Smart idea,
Where do I put the probe from my thermostat ? Would I still want it taking direct temp of the heat tape like a rack ?
I had mine suspended in the upper middle area.
Nice brother these things are expensive if you buy one
LKB Pythons can't beat free stuff off CL
Can I use a wine cooler. Or does it have to be a beverage fridge?
It just has to be well insulated. Fridge, wine cooler, styrofoam box can all work.
can it get to 99-101f. wanted to use fire chicken egg incubator
The stc1000 reads in Celsius. I dont use mine for chicken egg incubation. According to its manual it can go from -50C to 99.9C. 100F is about 37.77C
Do you have to remove all the cooling stuff from the back?
Chris you can leave it if you dont mind it.
does your aluminum tape start to turn black after a few weeks with all the condensation?
No. Are you running back heat or belly heat?
@@LucasLandonRoyals back heat vertically
@@Astinsmorphs it'd possible the condensation is causing it. The tape is metal. I use belly heat so I don't experience that issue.
why not just solder the wires directly to the wire from the fan? doing it this way just makes more room for failure
If the fan fails I can just swap in a new one with out having to soldier.
can you plug more then one fan into the connector and just use one plug in?
You can daily chain them.
Do you connect the fan to the thermostat
Or separate outlets
And how do you connect the light to an on off switch I did the same and kept mine attached
Pretty much everything is separate so if one breaks I can replace without impacting the other components. The light is on an individual switch, this switch plugs into an outlet. The 2 PC fans are plugged into an outlet and runs 24x7. The stc100 is on an outlet and controls the heat. 1 small desk fan is connected to a timer that runs 3 hrs on, 1 hr off. Air flow is important and should be at low velocity. 3 thermometer are battery powered.
What is the porpose of fan in incubutor?
Heat rises to the top. It's important to circulate the air and evenly distribute the heat as much as possible.
What is the porpose of light
@@tidztids9498 for viewing. It's optional.
I think it looks great man
have a mini fridge and getting ready to turn into one you still got to get some more parts you know Sans thermostat Flex tape LOL pretty much all the parts still but I'll get it together
